    2:06 It's really impressing how the director pays total attention to his breathing and singing to take the final slow-tempo of the song, and gets it perfectly. Those are things you don't see nowdays

    Only Sinatra could have a monster hit like this late in his recording career. Others have sung this song it but only Frank gave it life. I think he liked it to end the shows with this as My Way was a bit more demanding on his voice.

    I never realized how old he was when he did this song. I assumed it was something he did in the 50s

    • @linkodude43
      @linkodude43 6 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      No he didn't. The song wasn't even written in '57. It was written in 1977 for Liza Minelli. That is either just a slightly sped up version which gives the illusion of his younger, slightly higher pitched self. Someone in the comments on that video also said that is from 1978, before he recorded it at Reprise, which I suppose I could believe, but I think it is just sped up from the classic 1979 Reprise recording.

    • @maintoc
      @maintoc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      My mistake. I copied info from a TH-cam link where it said it was from 1957. I should have done more checking into it. Wikipedia says, in part, "Theme from New York, New York is the theme song from the Martin Scorsese film New York, New York (1977), composed by John Kander, with lyrics by Fred Ebb. It was written for and performed in the film by Liza Minnelli. It remains one of the best-known songs about New York City."

    • @borood1188
      @borood1188 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    My Great Auntie, Uncle and Mother loved this. My Uncled moved to NY in around 1959 and this was his song to my Mother and Great Aunt. He made his home in New York in the Heyday and later met some of these Stars when he lived and worked in California. His wife my Auntie used to see Victor Mature and Douglas Fairbanks in Pacific Pallisades were they lived and caught Franks Concerts many times. California was in its Heyday in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Good memoroies for my Family in Europe and the USA

    I want to be a part of it
    New York, New York
    These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
    Right through the very heart of it
    New York, New York
    I wanna to wake up, in a city that doesn't sleep
    And find I'm king of the hill
    Top of the heap
    These little town blues
    Are melting away
    I'll make a brand new start of it
    In old New York
    If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
    It's up to you, New York, New York
    New York, New York
    I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps
    And find I'm a number one, top of the list
    King of the hill, a number one
    These little town blues, are melting away
    I'm gonna make a brand new start of it
    In old New York
    And

    Quando uma música se torna muito mais mítica que o cantor e mais ainda que a própria cidade que dá nome a ela.
    Apenas Sinatra seria capaz de fazer uma proeza destas!

    I'm 11 and I really like old songs like this. I've been really shy to tell my friends that I love old songs because they all love some "K-Pop" groups like BTS so I also act like I listen to some K-pop stuffs. I've been really proud of my music taste because there are only some people who loves like old songs. I wish people would listen to songs like this once in their lifetime. I wish kids like me would also inspire me because I want everyone to know that without the "legends" our world would be a lot of crap musics. I'm not pushing everyone to love old music, I'm just sharing my words to each and everyone of us who really wants to change their lives because old musics really changed my whole life❤️ Thank You💜🙏 (PS: I'M USING MY SISTER'S ACOUNT)
