    I was devastated when I spent hours on an Ultimate Warrior Poster when I was 12-yo (in 96) and he no showed the house show in Detroit. Sid replaced him that night. However an interesting twist to that is two months later at a house show here in Canada Sid held up my *Sycho Sid Rules the WORLD!* poster after he defeated Vader.

    I was enjoying this educational video until the portion with Owen was mentioned. Seeing that visual of Warrior, Vader, Owen and Bulldog seemed off. Then I realized its because all four are deceased. The world is cruel. RIP to these legends. Thank you for entertaining us over the years.

    The warrior quote on HHH is so seething and it was true for at least a solid amount of time.

  • @LostInOhio75
    @LostInOhio75 5 ปีที่แล้ว +66

    Here's how I view the whole HHH thing at Wrestlemania. It was a squash designed to build up a returning Warrior, & what we got was HHH working it the opposite way of how he would use influence to step on the necks of many other guys once he was established as a top guy.

    • @acewillingham
      @acewillingham 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      That's how I see it too looking where Triple H is today he didn't get success on his own he basically leached off of other guys success not only that he also buried a lot of people just to get himself to where he is now which is one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of his and never will be now I see why Ultimate Warrior had a strong disdain for him

    • @MrBeardsley
      @MrBeardsley 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      HHH wasn’t the only person who buried Warrior in the Self-Destruction video, he was just toeing the official company line the same way he did years later when he started praising Warrior ahead of his Hall of Fame induction.

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      HHH was also the guy who reached out to UW on getting him into the WWE Hall of Fame. After Savage died, that was when HHH started to open lines of communication with many Ex-WWF/WWE wrestlers to get them in. Unfortunately, Vader was one that the company ignored when Vader himself contacted them about his health issues.

      Looking back on it was his punishment for the Curtain Call really that severe? I mean the Curtain Call happened in May of 96 and he became IC champ 5 months later. 97 comes along and he's IC champ to start the year, wins King of the Ring in june 97, then gets to be in DX with Shawn in oct 97. Not much of a punishment if you ask me lol. With the way he looked in 96 and 97 there's no way he would have ever been wwf champion anyways. They may say he was in line for a main event push in 96 but let's be honest hhh wasn't main event material until 99 regardless. I've heard ppl over the years act like hhh got buried for years because of the curtain call when in reality he got a bunch of opportunites prior to 99 that a lot of other guys didn't get.

      Lol, I remember hearing about it on the podcast and on Warrior's first DVD. I remember seeing it as a kid and thinking he doesn't want to get hurt, and they confirmed I was right. Ugh, it was terrible. Warrior was never the same after he won the world title. It was because he was over, and accomplished being the man, and made money. His ambition was never the same, not that he loved the business anyways, but now he didn't have to work hard.

I remember he had this nice old custom car and it was the same thing. He would put his ring gear on. Sometimes hed even play his entrance music and then he would run out the garage to the car and work on it with his music playing on a loop. Weird guy.

    Way I see it, Warrior just did not fit in WWF in 1996...mainly because they were pushing new talent like Ahmed Johnson and Marc Mero, the new generation. Warrior was just a relic from a bygone era. I also find it funny at the time that Vince kept pushing the message that this is the New WWF Generation and washed up old has beens like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage couldn't cut it in today's WWF..yet he brought back Warrior who was from that very same era and later Jake Roberts..it only made McMahon look like a hypocrite

    That match went the way it did, including the stuff with the bodyguard, because Dustin was legitimately injured, and couldn’t work.
    They opted not to just squash Goldust because they were trying to get him over. They felt that if hey squashed him, then he would have been dead and buried.

    Jacked. Extremely charismatic in spite of having real promo ability. Known more for his entrance than his wrestling ability. Rarely loses. Always wins in quick power burst matches to hide his wrestling skill. Wins the mid card title and unifies it with the world title in a match against Hulk Hogan. and then is constantly dragged back to WWE for big money in spite of a lack of wrestling talent. Warrior and Goldberg just might be the same man.

    Say what you like about Warrior, no matter how much he messed up he was a draw for WWE and WCW. Even when he came back for his HOF induction his pop was huge. He looked and acted like a cartoon hero that came to life. Even while he’s gone WWE is still try’s to get money off his name and style.

    Warrior looked great in 96, it was the last time his body held together, from then on he was never the same. Much smaller in WCW even though it was only two years later.
    Steroids only work for so long, muscle tears and palumboism set in by 98.
    Still loved him to the end, he was an awesome guy when I met him in 07. I’ve met virtually all the big names over the years and Warrior was the coolest.

    Probably the most misunderstood wrestler in the entire business from what ive read and heard he was so passionate about leaving his mark on the world and he did.What so many people dont know was while he was suspended in 91 he was in Germany doing a rivalry with the warlord the promotion didn't pay any of the mid and under card wrestlers so warrior and warlord held up the promotion for 300,000$ and he paid all the guys plus they all got a bonus hogan would have Probably kept it for himself RIP Warrior 🙏

Seems to me that midgets with great "in ring ability" that don't draw flies actually have NO in ring ability and ANYBODY who does draw by default has enough "in ring ability" to make people believe in what they are doing and want to see them.

      I didn't even bought it and I was his biggest fan in 89-90-91-92, nobody couldn't beat the ultimate warrior for me. I ask a friend to see the DVD and then I realised no they're bringing in all of warrior's real life enemies to bury him. To me his gimmick worked just Hulk Hogan didn't want Warrior to shine just like Bret Hart, Hogan told Vince this is who you want as champion but this is your company and is not going to work.

      One of the few WWE DVDs/ biography I've never watched. I can understand many of the wrestlers frustrations towards Warrior. He was a difficult guy to work with and he wasn't much of a team player. But bashing him like they did was wrong. He will always be an icon in the wrestling business. Fans loved him. I'm glad they worked it all out in the end before his passing.

    • @bobblueford

      The Self Destruction DVD was produced by McMahon at a time when they were enemies. Everybody in that doc was an employee of the WWF. So who's side were they gonna take anyway? Plus even Jericho said later that he was forced to trash the Warrior even though he was a fan.

    I have that Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD. It was the first DVD I’ve watched where wrestlers buried the hell out of someone. Jesse “The Body” Ventura’s commentary being removed (due to royalties) kinda took the vibe out of the DVD combined with them burying him. At least the 2007 DVD they did on D-Generation X was meant to be (somewhat) satirical. This wasn’t. At least they made a second one of him giving his own thoughts on the situation but they overdid it with the third one.

His returns in 92 and 96 both filled me with huge excitement but both times I felt like Santa missed my house at Christmas. Like Jake “The Snake” Roberts return in 1996,The Ultimate Warrior’s return was great (in my opinion) but was very underwhelming compared to their original run. Warrior was remembered for squashing Triple H and Roberts was remembered for putting over “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. 1996 Was the best time to bring them back (especially since WWF and mostly WCW were starting to get really good) but they failed to do them justice and Warrior’s attitude didn’t help.
