6 months and 3000kms in, i found these big block paver tyre's to be very slippery on wet roads. More scary moments in 6 mths with these than in 10yrs of riding.
Hello, sorry to here about your disappointment. In our 80/20 ADV tire testing we found the Shinko 705 and the Michelin Anakee Adventure tires to be better all around tire. Here's more info on our tests: www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/
I came here to see if I was the only one. Just rode this rear tire in the rain and was like riding on winter roads. I even pulled some pressure out midway through my ride and didn't help much.
Thanks for the review! I just got a DR-Z400SM. I'm coming from many years (40+) riding liter super sports. I thought I would downsize into something I could have fun on the road still, but have a bike I could trail ride on as well. With that in mind, I realize that there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all tire. I enjoy hard cornering on the street, so I'm not going with a knobby tire...just won't cut it for me. I'm OK with some drifting on the road, as long as it is predictable. If they did as good as the stock Dunlap K208's, I would be fine with that. I also need to have fairly good traction on logging roads and such. I'm not planning on getting too crazy off-road. I would likely get a new set of wheels if that was the case and get a good set more for that purpose. I'm also not planning on long trips...just not the bike for that! From what I saw and from a price point, the looked like they performed well. These are only $85 on Amazon! To get a better tire, you need to spend twice as much...at least. Not sure how long they will last when compared to a better tire? I also have not seen much evidence that the 'better' tires are sticking on the pavement much better. I'll keep looking, but not writing these tires out.
Hello, there are a lot of options out there and it can get narrowed down quickly if you don't want to spend a ton of money. Have you taken a look at our ADV tire shootout review video and the accompanying article? They may help shed some light for you: www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/
It was such a tough day out there on this tire... I had to make a more raw video of it on my personal channel. Take a gander: th-cam.com/video/oO8S3ACGzGU/w-d-xo.html Cheers - Kyle
Ha! Ha! Yes, the street orientation of these tires did cause some problems later in the day... Not an 80/20 as was recommended by Kenda ;) Thanks for watching. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Longevity? I have run the Kenda Big Block Paver on my XR650L (mostly street, 140/80-18) and I have to say the mileage isn't that good. Wondering how the the longevity is on a KTM 1090 Adventure-R... mostly pavement? Thx, everyone
Hello, interesting insight. From our testing on the Africa Twin, the Kenda Big Block had one of the highest estimated mileage scores (9,500) as a 80/20 tire in our ADV Tire shootout. www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/

@@chaparralmotorsports i see. A friend has a pair of Anakee 3s and loves them. I most likely replace the Kenda for the Michelin.

Thinking about getting these for my ktm 690 enduro for on road use only and keeping my stock mitas 07 50/50 for light trails and offroad.
Go for it!
One tyre ticked off the list. Nice review. It hurt seeing you dropping the bike. Definitely not a good option for off-road
Yeah... It's off my list too. This was the toughest day out there testing. Whew! Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Those tyres are death wings only street tyre rated by your review
Paul Montagner Kenda says it’s an 80/20 but I call BS. 95/5 at best ;)
Oh, I also have a A41 review coming up shortly.
Soooo if im riding mostly on road I should be good?
Yes, it is a good road tire.
Except in the wet...
Man, that hurts to see. Thx for your dedication testing tires under these conditions. These tires seems not for me. :D ;)
