    Scott, nobody does it like you and I mean NOBODY. I have watched all your Affinity Photo tutorials and have now started with Capture One. You have such a wonderful way of explaining every adjustment you make. Thank you for these and……. more please!

      Thank you very much Ann. I try to explain in a way that I would like to learn. More videos are coming but at the moment I am very busy working on a super top secret photography project.

    Really good lesson - illustrates a great many Capture One adjustments and tweaks in a very easy to understand fashion.

    I first started watching your videos for Affinity then graduated to Capture 1 - for a struggling learner this is the ants pants I followed every step editing my own project it is immensely helpful for learning the tools and developing a workflow in a complicated program at last I am getting the hang of it thank you so much

      Thank you very much George. I am editing a video showing an edit with Capture One and Affinity Photo together at the moment. It should be out either today or tomorrow. Hopefully that will be of help to you too.

    Thank you for the video, I'm trying to learn Capture One and it was very helpful. Would it have been possible to create a luminosity or color mask to more precisely prevent the trees from being darkened by your work on the sky?

    • @ScottWilliamsPhotography
      @ScottWilliamsPhotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome Lance. I tried playing with luminosity masking for the trees but it didn't want to work. It looked very messy. I think maybe the luminosity values at the edges of the trees were too variable. Or maybe I just didn't quite get the settings right. It is always worth giving it a try though as you never know.

    Thank you for your video. I'm thinking about changing to capture one and wanted to get some information about it. Capture one looks much more difficult at first glance compared to LR but I think it's only about getting used to a software.
    I was impressed when you darkened the gras and I would like to see how this photo would look like if it was developed with LR.

      Capture one is different to Lightroom but not really more difficult. It's just a case of getting used to it. I used Lightroom for years. It took me a couple of weeks to get the hang of Capture One. Now I use Capture One paired with Affinity Photo and could not be happier.

    Thanks for this!
    I am wondering: why not use Luma Range for the sky layers?

    • @ScottWilliamsPhotography
      @ScottWilliamsPhotography  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Norman. I tried using the luminosity range but I just couldn't get it to look good enough, no matter what I did with the radius and sensitivity. The luminosity masking does not play well with very fine detail like tree branches. So in the end I had to find another way. Sometimes you have to just go with what is working for you.

    Great tutorial !
    Beginner question - why did you prefer to use the curve for contrast and not simply the contrast slide ? If you wanted to darken the shadows without affecting the highlights you could have used the shadows slide as well. Would you have gotten different results ?
    Thanks !

    • @ScottWilliamsPhotography
      @ScottWilliamsPhotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using the curve gives more tonal control. I usually increase the shadow slider to add shadow detail, which the contrast and curve controls do not do.
