- A tour of what remains of steam trains in China. Part 2 deals with the complex of coal mines in Fuxin (Liaoning province). A number of steam locomotives (SY class) have been seen hauling coal trains, but also hot ash from the neighboring power station up to the heap. Quite steep for a steam locomotive. Only service trains are shown, no charters. Part 3 is here: • China Steam 2013 - Par...

Brilliant footage! Great to see so much steam!
Great Video!!
Awesome video can't wait for the next one!!!
So atmospheric, clever editing, super video
a tip : you can watch movies on Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
grate vid again, steam dream ,you did a good job.
Very interesting and enjoyable to watch, well done they are excellent.
Very cool video
My sincere thanks and appreciation
I am from Egypt
steam engine made in China lasts for centuries, awesome!
Superb reminder of this great location. Thanks.
Are the people fuxin around ?😊
6:47 just a little sulphur dioxide, thanks .😢
very nice vid!
very nice vidéo and trains.
Steam locos with air horns seem a little wrong..
I noticed your "pollution" comment. When graduated electronic engineering in the late 1980s, a couple of my mates first jobs as graduates, was working for a local company building control systems for sustainable/renewable energy systems in China. While China is obviously a significant polluter, it was clear the Chinese govt was already thinking about this sort of thing way before it was a thing in our neck of the woods.
They uses air horn for far distances!
Super Film
Thanks for sharing the video. What is it with Chinese steam locomotives? Except for a few "antiques" they all seem to burn ridiculously clean compared to even preserved American locomotives.
German standardized locomotives (Neubauloks) pioneered the principle of high power/weight ratio. American locomotives were extremely inefficient.
Damian Yoss Yes, but the efficiency is nothing to do with the amount of black smoke. Most of the US locomotives are oil fired, which can at times produce a heavy black smoke. Even for coal fired engines, the amount of black in the exhaust depends on the quality of the coal used and also to a certain extent the competence of the fireman. To be noted: the Chinese locomotives shown on my videos are all copies of post-war US locomotives.
KochersbergTV Thanks for clearing that up! I know nothing of these Chinese locomotives, only that their country tends to mimic pre-existing technology, so I assumed they used super-heaters, and were designed with power/weight in mind.
Damian Yoss They do use superheating and the JS shown in my video from Sandaoling have pre-heaters as well. The SY shown in this video are relatively light engines, with about 17 metric tons/axle. Hence the fact that they can be used on the heaps temporary tracks. For heavy duty work, the Chinese railways used the famous QY (2-10-2), which are unfortunately no longer running but may come back into operation for a short while end of this year.
Does anyone know what component(name or function) the mechanic at 1:18 to 1:23 is winding?
This is the mechanical lubricator. A device used to feed a special oil into the different parts of the machine that enter into contact with steam: the main cylinders of course, but also the steam-assisted reversing gear (the pipe that goes to the right). This device is normally actuated by the valve gear, but after refilling, it is always a good idea to run it by hand for a few seconds.
Wonderful vidoing! I assume it's al gone now?
Yes. All of this is gone...
@@KochersbergTV I thought as much. Thankfully, ,your filming is a great memorial.
How do you get access to these sites?
You need a permit, which is not free of charge. Impossible to cheat: there are cameras all over the place and the police is very quick. Anyway, nowadays steam locomotives have disappeared from this place. Replaced by diesels.
piękne!
Schön das im 21ten jahrhundert so unter "dampf" stand👍
You mean steam engines are still used in2014?
Actually, my video was recorded in March 2013. I cannot guarantee that steam is still in use in 2014, even though I believe it is the case.
Yes
it is used even in 2016 .after that is never be used
Wonder why their air quality is so bad over there? 😲😭☻
