Thanks, I hope they're enjoyable enough for you, I can't promise anything good from them though.

That is all pretty understandable, I do enjoy working on videos, but I have to consider the amount of time it takes to make them and the possible reception. It is just more economical on a timescale to do videos that are more or less off the cuff, maybe do a, Teleprompter type reading or something of that nature for a more controlled experience, but still attempt to maximize views and engagement for the time that you allocate to it. After all, it is well established that the algorithm will punish you if you don’t regularly release content for viewers to engage with. So the only channels that can really be successful with highly editing content, would be ones that do it as a full-time job and I ideally have more than a single person working on them.

Yeah TH-cam's Algorithm has killed hobby channels that actually put work into their content.
Nowadays it's either the low effort hobbiests or the full time trend followers, there's no middle ground.
Content wise, there's more garbage on TH-cam than ever before and it's making it harder to find good videos.

That’s sounds like a good idea, TH-cam for me has changed significantly and growth is something I don’t strive for anymore either. I also want to make a less edited and click bait videos, don’t really care much anymore. I still want to do this because I enjoy it but I’m starting to realize how I want to move forward and I like that.
Looking forward to your future content

Yeah I think it's important to leave the algorithm behind if you aren't already caught up in the TH-cam game (doing TH-cam for a living). It's time to go back to 2000s TH-cam back when we used to use Hypercam to record stuff... ok maybe not that far but those vibes need to come back methinks. Just recording stuff for fun.

That's fair Terry, I too will be stepping back from TH-cam in 2025 which I'll address in a video that'll come out on the 1st Jan. I think things change as time goes on, sometimes slow and sometimes fast. Hobbies change, priorities change, people change. I hope the next chapter in both your TH-cam channel and blog is a positive one and enjoy yourself with your newly acquired interests, I know I will. Look after yourself 👍

Yeah I knew that you were in the same boat as well, which is part of the reason why I'm going my own way as well. I feel like the community is fading and everyone is going their own way and it's the community that keeps me doing this so I feel that it's time for me to change things.
TH-cam just hasn't felt the same this year.

    Keep experimenting, my friend.
But I dig all the different stuff you do.

There will still be content, it will just be unedited stuff mainly. I'm going to try to cover topics as I play stuff like I did with my ridge racer videos on top of the let's plays so hopefully it will be entertaining enough for you.
I just can't promise anything amazing.

@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309 nah I check out the channel because i like your thoughts and style. Just do what you feel like doing.
Growth is tricky really- I’ve been at this for 3 years now and I feel like I am still in the dark for which videos are going to catch on.
But I stick to it because I enjoy the process.
Just do what works for you

Well that's good. Ultimately my biggest concern is the viewers I already have. If they're happy then it's a win for me.

I will still have some discussion videos, they'll just be more rambly than usual.

Its a shame, but i cant really see many oldschool youtubers from 2008-2012 sticking around for much longer either. those communities are slowly but surely closing smaller in size. one thing that can be frustrating is adapting to the new landscape. peoples attention span today on average is roughly 5-7 seconds, which is pretty pathetic to say the least. now its about shorts, click bait thumbails, rage bait entretainers, and/or being an absolute clown. gone are the days of cable telivison, news paper, playing a bad game cause thats what you paid for. my point is i can see how its frustrating for you to upload a video and pour your feelings on it about games youve mastered and some random with no subscribers randomly posts a short of there cat meowing and instantly millions of views.

Yep times have changed, TH-cam is a shell of its former self now. wasn't always like this. People also don't seek out information on games so making video reviews is pointless because people don't care to watch them, they just want to buy what the influencers tell them to buy.
The whole point of reviews is to inform people as to whether or not a game is worth their time and money but people don't seem to care about that information now, they'll still bitch about the game if they don't like it but they never heed the warnings, they can't even be bothered to take a small portion of time out of their lives to do research on what they're buying but will still bitch about it being a disappointment. A review could have saved them the hassle.
It doesn't help that game reviewers aren't on a level playing field, those who kiss the publisher's asses get early access to the game for free so they can finish it in time to drop the review the moment embargo lifts, meanwhile us honest folk have to actually wait till the game releases and buy it with our hard earned money and get like 200 views.
Meanwhile the people who got the game for free and got 20K views day 1 are making money out of it... but I'm not.
That's when I realized that I'm a mug for doing all this.
      It's all corrupt.

Low effort content? Sounds like my channel. I actually don't mind a new Let's Play in my feed every other day. I'd rather deal with that than have to scroll past a bunch of Shorts that I will never watch.

I don't know what's up with the shorts algorithm, it only recommends the popular stuff and not interesting stuff to me.

Not sure if I'll watch the Let's Plays but you don't seem to upload that much in general.

    • @CynicalGamingBlogTerry309

That's because videos I used to do take time to make and I don't do this as a full time job so I do everything in my spare time whenever I feel like it, that's why my uploads are so spaced out.
