When you got a front man like Corey and a top guitar genius like Vernon, the bass and drums get overlooked. But damn, it's hard to overlook those two. And the baseline to this song! I mean absolute fire. You know how confident Vernon is when he's willing to have unbelievable bass players like Muzz and Doug behind him. It's got to inspire him to constantly raise his game. One of the best bands in rock and roll history. Up there in the top 10 imo.
@Chris Paul No doubt, didn't mean to leave Will out, I'm just such a bass head. And yea, as far as talent, maybe even the top five. And with all that, they are very entertaining and a lot of fun to listen to as well Just one of my all time favs that always float around in the top five to me.
You ain’t lying , Christ, imagine the heights they pushed them to when truly LIVE. I think the Apollo almost always canned the music but ran vocals live.
I’m a Black guy from the burbs. I love these guys and I got hip to a ton of Chicano bands on college including War, Malo, El Chicano and Santana!!! Vernon Reid says his biggest influence was Carlos Santana!! Respect, brother!
This song prompted many a suburban white kid to consider what life for others involved. It also prompted a number of my black peers to explore a different genre of music. Gifted musicians and songwriters who left a way bigger mark then they are credited for. The real deal these dudes.
I've seen Corey sing this to a 900-capacity room, having walked past the mic because the sound was playing up. Everyone amplified but him. He blew the doors off. Never seen the like. Fantastic band, *astonishing* vocalist. Stuck around to meet the crowd afterwards, so my friends and I had a drink with him. Legend doesn't even begin...
I dont think the music was live ..for whatever reason.. but Glover was definitely belting out that vocal .. and still doing it just as great 30 years later... respect !!
The RRHOF is a lame sham and all who are ignored by them are actually better off. To paraphrase Chaucer, to receive their blessing is actually a curse.
I remember watching this performance live on the air. This is the first time I've seen it since that I can remember. If you could win the Apollo crowd over you could win anyone over. They would not hesitate to mock and heckle any band that didn't bring it. This type of music obviously wasn't their thing but they recognized and respected the talent.
This song is so baddas ..my brothers of living color band are so great ..these dudes, are the real deal ...im an old white dude ..but i appreciate the struggle and the heartfelt lyrics. Makes me smile ..love this tune
I remember jamming this and the Cult of personality in Seaside heights in New Jersey , yup still kicken it , 80's and 90s were the shit... Always props to these boys...👊.. much love dudes.. Thanks for the memories..🤙..
Which really sucks because I would have preferred to see Vernon tear it up live on his classic ESP, not play along to what he wrote and recorded in the studio.

unreal... they are bad ass
I just saw Living Color August 2023. I'm telling you they sounded this good!
One of my bucket list 💋
They only got old...Still burn the house down.
@@Babybugex Corey is my age & I ain't old 😘
Im a mexican dude from the barrio and always loved these guys! Powerful music from an outstanding band... 👏
Right on man!!!!

That had to be one of the best live performances ever at the Apollo. That was insane.

Can I like this comment twice? Put into words better than I ever could have.
And they're still relevant to this day, there's hope still...✌️
WoW..so talented....We were spoiled in 80s and 90s in ALL GENRES
For me, the stars of this song are William Calhoun and Muzz Skillings. That rhythm section is pure fire.
In the pocket for sure but Vernon wrote the riff ..without a sing theres no rythym section ..song first
100% truth!!!
Truth!!!!
@@davida6889 Without a sing?
Muzz was soooooooooooo good on the bass and the mic
Loved it in my teens. still loving it at 67
You're 67, but 35 years ago you were a teen?
I'm no math wizard, but that doesn't seem to add up.
I dont know if a more powerful set of lyrics could have been sung to this crowd at the Apollo

Fantastic band, *astonishing* vocalist.

Legend doesn't even begin...
Fuck his voice is off the hook man. So good
That was a GREAT performance!

This has the wild styling of the 80s and 90s wrapped into one ❤
One of my favorite Living Colour songs. Powerful lyrics
They were a really big deal. Always loved this band.
Saw them on their 25th anniversary tour of livid...i kid you not, they sounded just as good, if not even better, as this.
I think Glovers voice actually got better as he got older. The level of talent here was insane.
Rock and roll hall of fame better recognize!
Need more than 1 album. A great one for sure. After this nothing even came close.
Love ‘em, but that call ain’t coming anytime soon. Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest aren’t even in.

I was watching it now i am old. Wont forget ever how good they were and still going

this performance was incredible

I have to say it...this is a backing track with live vocals. This is the Apollo and it's like a Soul Train performance.
Which really sucks because I would have preferred to see Vernon tear it up live on his classic ESP, not play along to what he wrote and recorded in the studio.
amazing...
still get goose-pimples when I experience this song again
excellent
This is a perfect song. They are a phenomenal band.
🤟
One of the greatest bands of all times.
A band of incredible musicians.
They are great to watch live so into the songs saw them back in 89 atlantic city.
They also kicked ass on saturday night live too
This was beautiful living colour playing the apollo everybody was feeling this group heavy
Good stuff! ❤️🤘
If you look at the neighborhood near the Apollo and how it has been gentrified today. Right where they performed this.
Crazy energetic bass line man wow!!
I was 18. I'm 50 now. ❤️
I was 30. I'm 71 now....the last band I'v seen - live - in Austria ~e~💓
I love these guys So much talent for sure
👏👏👏 DAMN!!! LUV & MISS these guys!!! 🤘🏼 ✊🏼
That bass is the best riff in music today
Awesome!
Lot of the audience just didn't get it maybe it was the genre of hard rock which they were definitely not use to at the Appollo
The baseline is fire....just sayin'
Badasses.
Corey is timeless
Will is the best drummer in the world !
👍🏻❤️👍🏻🎤🎸❤️
🔥🔥🔥
Che reazione il pubblico!🇮🇹👍migliore della versione in videoclip.
My favorite video 90s
Greatness at its best
Award.
Chapelle was so right. Living Colour was the embodiment of the John Mayer sketch.
Buen rock
Live vocal, album backing track. It's a shame, they're one of the best live bands ever.
The Best 4ever
Wow--great tune! Turn up the lead vocals though...I can still hear the instruments!
They should've been bigger.
I love you guys and that song doesnt touch your soul and make you feel sum...im sorry you don't . .u 'll nevet know what your missing
Voglio la chitarra colorata di Vernon Reid!
Chi presentava?
He definitely used the studio guitar in this performance. Still sick song
...Sound track of my Life..... One of the most Underated bands.. Nope, don't think so.. Vernon Reid is da Shee-ot!!... 🙏.....
Don & Rudy gave Thumbs Down👈
The ppl in the crowd did not deserve this performance
is this a playback? (not the vocals)
Yes....Vocals only are live....
No drum mics? Damn! Only thing live is the vocals.
Canned music, live vocal... which is a shame, because the true power of this band is their live shows.
Legends blacklisted for, well............you know. Racism and stuff.
