Tons of muscle cars came with small blocks. Realistically, the difference between big block and small block depends on the manufacturers. In the end I just wanted to let you guys know that I barely just found out about a pony car and just did a quick Google search and now I'm here because I want people to know that I'm a real car guy even tho no one talks about "pony cars"
Pony cars are legitimately just smaller muscle cars. Pony car examples being: obv the mustang, cougar, camaro, firebird, challenger, and the Cuda. Muscle car examples being: Galaxie, Fairlane, impala, gto, charger, and polara. Notice how every single car I mentioned came with an optional big block, as well as a small block except for the firebird. They actually never had a big block option. And absolutely none of them are known whatsoever for turning until their 90s iterations if they made it that far and that only goes for some of them. The appeal of the pony car was that it was smaller, lighter, but had all the big engines the bigger cars had. Everybody back in the 60s and 70s were speed freaks and really only cared about stop light racing. Thats actually how the gto was born.

the thing you are slightly wrong about, is that muscle cars are really actually not that big, the whole idea was that they’d take the smallest chassis they had in their lineup and stuff their biggest v8 into it, they may be comparatively large when side by side to newer cars, but compared to the other cars available at the time they were small. also they were commonly used in all forms of racing not just straight line speed
What makes them "musclecars" is that they are designed and built just like your average family car. With a huge engine, lots of power. But nothing done to the rest of the car to make it able to handle all that.
Muscle cars dont necessarily require a big block V8. There's been cars back then that have been equipped with small blocks and were under the mucle car title, ie the 327/350 novas, 340 darts and other bigger ones like the torino with the 351c. Just wanted to point that out since you specified big block only.
One cool thing that I can't really hate on anymore is the fact that the pony cars of today offer 4 cyl turbos and v6s that are actually quick. The Ecoboost mustang is pretty cool and the 6th gen v6 camaro is actually almost a dead even matchup with the 5.7 liter hemi Mopars
So I drive a 1970 bronco with a small block in it. By its chassis size, it would be qualified as a muscle car, but it's engine would qualify it as a pony car. What would you say it is?
Whether its a muscle car or a pony car doesn't dictate whether it has a big block or a small block. Impalas could have big blocks, small blocks, or even I6s. Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers could all come factory equipped with a big OR small block.
You know the 65 gto was considered the first muscles car and had a 389 which is a small block so either your disregarding that lots of muscles cars have small block or you don't know the difference between small and big blocks
I personally say: V8 = muscle (for camaros, challengers, mustangs) and V6 or less = pony car. Unless we're talking 3/4th gen camaros or Equalivent for mustangs/challenger/chargers (idr if it's an 80s charger or challenger) then it's pony.
The muscle cars were when in the late 60s and early 70s they became longer, wider and the engine size got ridiculous you had 440cu and 450s. So an original pony was the Mustang, Camaro, challenger and Firebird. Then the barracuda, roadrunners, chargers and later Firebirds became muscles. But they are the same

Mustang hell ya
Tbh bumble bee from transformers kinda saved the cam
One cool thing that I can't really hate on anymore is the fact that the pony cars of today offer 4 cyl turbos and v6s that are actually quick. The Ecoboost mustang is pretty cool and the 6th gen v6 camaro is actually almost a dead even matchup with the 5.7 liter hemi Mopars
Pretty much the same thing, except one can crash into crowds
Yep, the challenger
😂
So I drive a 1970 bronco with a small block in it. By its chassis size, it would be qualified as a muscle car, but it's engine would qualify it as a pony car. What would you say it is?
Just a small block classic suv I guess
Dam the muppets looking more realistic
Whether its a muscle car or a pony car doesn't dictate whether it has a big block or a small block. Impalas could have big blocks, small blocks, or even I6s. Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers could all come factory equipped with a big OR small block.
You know the 65 gto was considered the first muscles car and had a 389 which is a small block so either your disregarding that lots of muscles cars have small block or you don't know the difference between small and big blocks
I want a Muscle Pony Car
Why does he look more related to faze rug then faze rugs actual brother
I like track cars like Viper or Vette. Even a Camaro is good.
But they are the same
Will it is kinda true there cars in the first place but good cars
Well actually, a pony car is a muscle car, but with a long hood and a short back, unlike older camaros and challengers.
So my v6 mustang is a muscle car, cool😁
