- Took the DC metro (WMATA) Red Line (RD) From Glenmont to Shady Grove. The red line is like a big U. At first you head Southbound the it turns up to head northbound. Couldn't get a front window again but that was ok. Went to the back and did the usual rear view , side view, inside the car and videoed each station along the way. We stopped a few times for train traffic and construction. We by passed the NoMa-Gallaudet station. Not sure why because there were people on the platform. One thing I did notice on the red line compared to the other lines. There was a ton of graffiti along the way. Some of it was very good there are some great artist out there. Other than that it was a smooth ride on the Kawasaki 7000 Series Train.

That was a lot of fun hanging out with you on the metro. You got to get some shirts made so people did recognize you can come up and say hello
That was a fun day. Not sure about the shirts. Thanks for watching.
Great videos. I used to stand behind the front cab every time I rode the MARTA in Atlanta. Was great because I got to see which direction we were turning in the tunnels. (Speaking of Atlanta, if ever you’re there, you should make a video on the trains there.)
15:34 doors opening step back to allow customers to exit, When boarding please move to the center of the car. This is a red line train shady grove the next stop is Brooklyn-CUA. *Chimes* step back doors closing.
thanks for this video !
MarkTheLostTraveler, those two stations on the WMATA Blue and Silver Line, Arlington Cemetery and Addison Road will reopen back up a week and a day before Memorial Day which is on Sunday, May twenty-third.
Thank you for the info. I Just need to ride the blue line and I will have done all six. Thank you.
I think i saw you in the train but nice vid
You might of next time say hello. Thank You For Watching.
I might have seen him also in the green line ( College Park prior to its being closed for repairs) I think. Heck I was smooching with my wife😅
I think I’ll do this today, instead of staying in all day. 🙂
Have a good time and stay safe. Thank you for watching
MarkTheLostTraveler, I really liked your video. Could you hopefully next month after Addison Road and Arlington Cemetery stations are reconstructed could you kindly do the WMATA Blue Line Franconia-Springfield to Largo Town Center Full Ride?
Getting ready for that one. Thank you.
Wait a minute here! I thought that on the WMATA Blue Line WMATA Blue Line trains bypass Arlington Cemetery which is the only station that closes.
Not sure on that one. I think there are only a few station closed. But im not sure how many are closed on the blue line. Thank you for your comments and watching.
I used to think the line color would change the color of the light on the floor (the ones that make you stand clear of oncoming trains)
That would interesting. Another clue to tell you what train was coming. Thank you for watching.
No problem
15:00 This is fort totten transfer is available to green and yellow lines on the lower level.
Thank you for watching.
Used to ride the Breda cars at the back of the trains with the rear facing seats to enjoy the rear views. I personally think you wouldn't be able to do that kind of railfanning on other Metro systems, but I could be wrong.
Not sure about that one either. Thank you for watching.
It's unfortunate that wmata didn't consider building express stations and tracks. The system really needs it.
I agree with you, William. Thanks for watching.
Of course, that would be more costly, and really, D.C. isn't really dense enough to warrant it...
@@jayo1212 transit ( especially functioning and excellent public transit ) is an expense. Many Americans seem to be more willing to pay for another mile of freeway instead ( now that can get expensive ). I also think that the delays experienced during rush hour are illustrative of the need for express infrastructure. The population density is definitely there. Much of the discussion about any solution is about political will.

Yes it does. Thank you for watching.
Why would the WMATA Red Line train bypass NoMa-Gallaudet University station?
MarkTheLostTraveler, for some reason, I apparently like being on the last car of the Washington DC Metro so that whenever the subway train enters and exits the tunnel, I cannot hear the driver honking the horn. That uncomfortable noise of the horn is rather bothersome and annoying to me.
Agree on the horn. Thanks for watching.
Same here
I've never really understood why they do that. That's not done in New York
@@WillsJazzLoft they use to do that just in case of workers on the roadway. Not really necessary anymore.
Why would the WMATA Red Line mention "Next stop Judiciary Square" when it is at Judiciary Square
Not sure why they would do that maybe it was a glitch in the announcement system. Thanks Will for watching
It sounds to me like the system was glitched since it's programmed to stop at NoMa-Gallaudet and the train bypassed it so it didn't default to the next which was Union Station
