The Red Line is the first metro rail line built and opened in Washington D.C. and connecting the adjacent areas. Opened in 1976 and extended in both directions for many times, the line has a current length of 32 miles with 27 stations opened. Within the entire WMATA rail system, the Red line is the only line that runs individually and does not share any segments with other lines, and has a shape of "U", such that the middle section is in downtown Washington D.C., and the two ends are located in the relative suburban areas.
The line connects up several cardinal areas of the United States' Capital City, including but not limited to the President's Park, the downtown tourism areas, business districts, transportation terminals, university towns, and resident areas.
There are several models of cars running on the line now. The 3 older series are 6-car trains, which are: Breda 2000 series / Breda 3000 series / Alstom 6000 series. The newer model, which are 8-car trains, are made by Kawasaki in 2015. But due to their derailment happened by the end of 2021, they were pulled out of service, and did not return on the Red Line when the video was taken.
Therefore, as the older series' announcement systems are fully-manual, while the newer series' announcements are consisted of "nonchalant" machine-generated voices, I decided to dub the station announcements by myself.
Please correct me if any of those pronunciations are wrong.
The video was taken when I was traveling in D.C. Generally, WMATA left me with an awesome impression. Especially, I love how they treat rail fans with a nice and friendly attitude. For instance, the operator of the train that I took the time-lased video on realized that I am a rail fan, and poured special passion while making announcements. Special thanks to him!
    Thanks for watching!

It’s a minor nitpick but the “t” in some of the stations listed such as Gallaudet is silent (French). For Gallaudet, that’s named after Thomas Gallaudet who founded the first deaf school in the US.
(Sorry about the brief history overload)
Other than that, it’s sharp and solid. WMATA workers are amazing most of the time as I’ve always grown up around DC as I flew out there often to see family ever since I was 1. One even gave me a Metro Token when I was young.

Since you specifically asked, MARC is pronounced "Mark," not "M. A. R. C." VRE, however, is pronounced "V. R. E." so that one's good. I'm also not sure if the metro mentions transfers to Amtrak or the streetcar, would need to double check.
      Thanks for the neat vid!

You can thank the closure and demolition of the White Flint Mall for that! When I was a kid, going there was a VERY special occasion, and it was pure magic for a variety of reasons!

      @@dragondancer1814wait, that’s why it’s renamed?

@@elevatingaroundtown Yep, the mall was closed and demolished in 2015, and in 2021 the Metro Board voted to rename the station North Bethesda since the mall it was originally named for no longer existed.

How you never got caught filming is beyond me, the operators don’t like it when people film the front view.

You should do the green line from end to end or the orange line from end to end on a time lapse. Blue from end to end would be cool too

Based on the description it sounds like you had a great operator. You mentioned they poured special passion into their announcements, any shot you could upload the original footage with the original audio so we can hear some of that?

Hi Kevin, over the holiday this past week my nephew introduced us to the MBTA POV video you made. We were so pleased that we found this one from WMATA. Will you be doing the rest of the WMATA lines? Please say you'll come back to complete the whole system! Thanks great videos!
