I've just got back into mtb at the ripe old age of 41, just got back on my feet , lost my wife ,kids , job , car , house , ended up in the hostel system here in the UK. I got clean and see my sons loads. We bond over bikes , bikes with pedals , and bikes with motors. Not having much money , I managed to get a wrecked voodoo wazoo, fixed it up with the help of my sons, and absolutely love it. Thanks for the content 🙏

Be interesting to hear ur thoughts on upgrading the forks as i also have a Bizango and i am considering the same thing (instead of the cost of a new bike with better parts as i thnk the frame is great) also changing the rear rotor to a larger size possibly 180mm to match the front. cheers enjoying the videos!

I’ve got the bizango done a lot to it here are my component upgrades: rockshox Judy forks,200mm front rotar,180mm rear,shimano mt500 front wheel with maxxis 2.3 high roller 2 ,slx rear brake,deore front brake,renthal bars (gold) 760mm , wake stem,dmr v6 pedals,odi black grips and planning to get the same dropper in this video 👍

I'm at a point where im going to upgrade my bizango. Rear wheel is on the list, but im unsure of the compatibility of wheels on the market. Hoping you could shed some light on this for me please?
Great video. I just ordered a Bizango and will be picking it up on Friday. Very excited and really useful upgrades to know for the future. A suspension video would be a great future addition when you get round to servicing yours.
What forks does it come with because his do not look like rocksock

First thing I changed, pretty much within the first week, was the brake discs. I didn't like the lever feel on the ugly Shimano discs so I swapped them out for SRAM discs 180/180 feels and looks much better. Bars, grips and dropper post soon followed.
Love the channel🤙.I also love my bizango, bought it second hand last year after reading the reviews and wanting a bit of a bike build during lockdown.
It was in quite good condition frame wise but the components had been neglected.

Yeah the breaks are in my list to do too. Good work on the hope wheels and hubs. I think they are a super reliable brand.

Great video! Its amazing how much difference some little upgrades can make, although you are correct - most important thing is to just get out and ride!
We all love buying new bike bits, but sometimes we have just got to get out and ride.
I'm 5ft 11 3/4 and I couldn't feel much in it between the 18 & 20. As I was buying for fun and trails I decided on the 18. However I've ended up recently doing some long road miles with the seat post on max limit which is spot on height for road riding for me and rode 36 miles in total comfort....other than a very sore arse.
Like your content mate. Please get a bolt up seat clamp, if only for looks! Dropper and qr don’t marry.
Good video can really change the feel of the bike with upgrades. Iv done similar to mine tyres bars etc but also brakes. A good cheap upgrade is putting a 180mm rotor on the rear. Be interesting to see what route you go with forks, the standard radion forks can adjust to 130mm I just did this on mine last week
Yeah the feel of the bike definitely changes once you tweak it to the way you like to ride. Breaks are high up on my upgrades list at the moment. Taking my time with the forks, but want to get something a bit better suited to my riding.
@@bikeandbeyond yeah I’m on a xl bazingo and weigh 105kg that and living in scotland I found the standard brakes not up to the job, the rear rotor upgrade makes a difference but ultimately I ended up putting 4 pot xt brakes on it and upgrading the rotors for sintered pad use. The derore 4 pots are good value but I couldn’t find any stock of them. Great videos by the way help me to decide on getting the voodoo last summer.
should look into x fusion their value for money on forks is insane especially for a used set. you should be able to fit an external headset cup if your steerer tube isn't already tapered. that's what I did to my voodoo hoodoo to fit an xfusion velvet

I know what you mean. All bikes seem to still be out of stock everywhere. Really annoying!

Just got the last 16" frame this week! There's a few 18 and 20" frames in stock now!
@@rooberry-music I was wondering what size I should get, I’m 5’8” it says the max for the 16 is 5’9” or should I get the 18?
@@DanEscapes so I'm 5'8" too and when i dismount onto the front (heels to the floor) my crotch is barely an inch off the top of the frame. I have a 30" inside leg. I'd say go for the 16", I haven't tried the 18" but I have a feeling I won't have enough clearance if I have to suddenly dismount. Ouch😅
Great video and to a very high standard, as usual. I'm 6'6" on a 22" Bizango and a bit ahead of you on the upgrades front: DMR V8 Pedals V2, 120mm Ascend dropper post, Tubeless Conversion, 60mm stem, XT BB, SLX 32 Tooth Cranks, SLX 11 speed derailleur and shifters, 11-46 SLX cassette, DT Swiss X1900 wheels, Maxis Minion DHR II up front, with Ardent remaining on the back, RT76 discs and metal pads Raidon forks serviced with oil for extra smoothness. Sounds a lot, but much of it driven by things being worn out. Headset also gone and about to replace with Hope headset, but just waiting for headset removal tool.
Sounds like you have been busy! I agree that it is a case of when something wears out it’s time to upgrade. I have a few more bits and pieces that I have my sights on.
@@bikeandbeyond I know a lot of people are annoyed about some of the standards used on a Bizango, but with a little research everything is upgradable. For example, DT Swiss, Hunt and Hope wheels can all cater for the 15mm non-boost front and the Boost QR rear. My wheels were just under £300, which I consider a v. good price for decent wheels with good hubs.

@@jamesgoatcher5397 For anyone interested I have replaced my 2020 Bizango headset with a Cane Creek 40 series ZeroStack 1 1/8 Inch Black x Tall, upgraded the crank to a GX Eagle Dub 175mm with a Sram Dub BSA BB 68/73. Bike feels like new - v pleased with result.
I've just bought a Bizango and my first purchase was the very same dropper post: got it for £50 from wiggle! Just about to buy the same grips too. Some of the other features (like wider bars and more tyre clearance) have been incorporated into the new version of the bike. I've also swapped out the existing brakes for a set of Shimano SLX from my old bike and I'm fitting mudguards. Maybe one day I will actually get to ride the thing! Future upgrades will be the headset bearings and wheels/hubs and I might fit a larger chainring as I will be using it more for gravel/XC than steep climbs. Tyres too once the OEMs are worn out a bit.
Awesome. I made some similar upgrades soon after I got it and it has been running really well. I was thinking about the brakes but the bizango breaks soon to work better than the ones on my endurobike, so I have t touched them (apart from the occasional brake bleed every now and then).
@@bikeandbeyond I changed the brakes purely on the basis that it didn't make any sense to leave better brakes sitting on a bike that will probably not get ridden all that much ever again.

I have heard mixed reviews about the bizango going tubeless. A few people said they had issues. My local bike shop converted mine a while back and I personally didn’t have any problems.

How freaky are we talking? A super mullet with a 26 inch jump bike wheel on the back, a fat bike tyre on the front and a set of DH forks. Now that is a build ride video I would definitely watch!

You may have done this already but when you install deathgrips they don’t slide on completely so you’ve got to hit them to get them on all the way.
Yeah that's right, I had to give them a couple of taps to get them on properly.
A tip, if you spray hair spray inside the grips they slide on like a knife through butter, just have to wait for them to try before riding but saves the risk of a) hurting yourself b) damaging anything :) hope this helps

I converted mine with no issues (and know a few people who have done the same), however a couple of people have contacted me saying they theirs didn't work.
Just fitted the 125mm version of the brand X dropper but I’ve noticed about 2mm of rotational play in the internal section so my seat rotates very slightly. Do yous do the same?
Hey fellow Bizango owners! I’m after a bit of help, I have the bizango which i purchased last summer and love it. My only gripe is that I cannot get the front of the bike sorted, it just doesn’t feel safe. When I get to any descent, and build up some speed, I can feel a judder/vibration through the fork which gets worse under gentle braking. I’ve loosened and tightened the headset many times but find I end up with stiff steering when eradicating the judder, so I start to loosen off but re-introduce the judder. I don’t know what else to do, it ruins the enjoyment whilst out riding as I can’t enjoy the downhill parts. Anyone had the issue? Or know how I can fix it? Also, any adjustments I can make to the fork as it just doesn’t feel soft enough?!

How did u know ur bottom bracket was knacked? Mine has started to make a creaking noise on every pedal. Thinking it might be buggered.
Thanks man. I found out that it was knackered because my cranks felt loose and clunky when riding. I inspected the cranks and found no issues, so took the BB out and found that it was wobbly.
Creaking is a pretty good sign the bb has had it to be honest.

Just the dropper post added to my Bizango so far, also went for the Brand X Ascend. I wonder why? ;) New bars next I think as I do find them a bit narrow.
Nice work. The dropper is the hard one because it is the most expensive. The brand x bars I got were just £20. They are just as good as any other bar I have ridden with.

I’m 187cm, would a size L bizango fit? I have a carrera vengeance size L who fits okay but the seat has to be quite high for long rides and it causes me to lay forwards quite a lot and gives back pain. Wondering if someone could advise, I’m interested in either the hoodoo or the bizango, for cross country riding, and the covid makes it not possible to try before buying. Not sure what’s size I should go for
Great video. Just after a quick bit of advice as I’m planning to order a Bizango this week. I’m just under 5ft10. So according to size guides I could fall into either the M or L frame.
Is there any pros and cons you can offer as to which to go for, as you’re a similar size to me.
I’m more tempted to go for the M.

That's a tricky one. The risk of going to big is that you will find the bike tough to handle and you will be too overstretched when riding. If you go too small you could feel too cramped. If you are used to a 27.5, a 29er can feel a bit big just because of the larger wheels, but you will get used to that. I had the same dilemma when I was looking to by my Bizango. The bets thing to do is go and sit on one (which I know is tricky when the UK is in and out of lockdowns all the time at the moment). Sitting on it will give you the best idea of how comfortable you feel and see how appropriate the bike is for you.
These do run larger, Im 5'8", had an 18" hybrid bike (carerra subway) before, but had to downsize to 16" frame on the bizango. 18" didn't have enough top bar clearance for me, my crotch was hitting the bar when standing. 16" felt just right however. So if you're 5'10" I would recommend going for the smaller of the two frame sizes the website puts you at, so go for M.
In my experience 5’10 is borderline on sizing, the 20 was too big to have the dropper (externally routed off my old bike) I exchanged for size 18 which was perfect
Thanks for all the comments, really useful. I had a nip out earlier and tried the 20. Too big for me. I’ve ordered the 18 for delivery this week. Pretty sure that’s going to be perfect.
Would the voodoo bizango fit 2.4 ardent tyres?
I got this bike and I love it. I’m wondering if I can change the 32t crankset with 34t or 36t? I feel that I need more speed on flat terrain.
I fitted a super star components 36t to mine. I use it mainly for winter when I convert the bike to more of a hybrid with faster running tyres as the trails just get too wet and wild in deep winter. It is perfect as the original would not have enough pace to match the tyres even on the flats. I did use it on my local trails(Friston forest, south downs) but found I preferred the original as we have some very steep climbers.

Hi. Can you help. I took my final bike check with my bizango at Halfords owning it less than a year and they said the rear wheel is cracked. I'd noticed a sound for a while but had no idea it was that serious. Anyway they said I need a new one as too dangerous to cycle. Not under guarantee either which is very annoying as 'moving part''. I don't ride that extreme so very disappointed - have never had a back wheel crack before. Could you recommmend a replacement back wheel and where to buy it? I've got a 20 inch 29er. Desperate to get back out there! Thanks

Hello mate. It will depends what style riding you do. I am 5”10 and ride a large. It seems fine to me, but I was new to 29” wheels and thought it felt big at first. I always advise sitting on a couple of sizes first. That way you know it will be right for you.

Does the renthal fat bar fit this bike?
Best thing to do is check the size of the renthal against the sizing of the bars I fitted in this vid (sizes are in the video description). If they don’t fit you may have to change your stem.

Hi, will a 150mm dropper be ok on an 18 Inch frame, I'm 5ft 10. I noticed on one of your earlier videos it said you did 150mm but on recent videos it looks to be 120mm. Any advice would be great.
Hi Adam, I have only ever had the 120mm on my Voodoo Bizango. It fits well on the 20'' frame. People have told me that the 150 will fit on the 20'' frame but I am not sure how much shorter the seat tube is on the 18'' compared to 20''. The worst that would happen is that it would stick out the frame an inch or so. That is not a huge issue for dropper posts, as we rarely have them all the way in the seat tube anyway.

Will a 2.3 dhr ii rear & dhf 2.4 front fit on this bike? You say 2.3 or 2.4 but which is which?
Both of mine are 2.3 which are good. Chain Reaction Cycles and Bike Radar say that a 2.4 will fit on front and back, but it will be pretty close.
I have a 2.6 on the front of mine! Ridden it all year and no hiccups.

@@scottedwardhiggins7823 I couldn't find anything official but 2.6 on front is working fine for me. I kept the originals on the back so I wouldnt know about that. I went for the Maxxis Minion DHF Wide Trail 3C/EXO/TR Tire - 29 x 2.6in on the front.
@@scottedwardhiggins7823 Clearance is fairly tight, just over 1 cm perhaps? You can't fit a mudguard on it no.
What fork does the bike come with

Great video, thanks.. after much research I bought a Bizango and collect next week. My first MB! All things to do with maintenance and upgrades will be completely new to me, but is sounds like common upgrades are relatively straightforward?! Dropper and tubeless seem the first two to look at?
Nice work! Yeah all the upgrades in this video are pretty straight forward. The dropper post can be a bit awkward, but lucking you get instruction with them :)
I considered this bike however, alas, I couldn't possibly ride a bike with such a preposterous name.
