  • A tough multi-day hike into the heart of Southern Lamington National Park, exploring the upper reaches of Running Creek including both Magic Flats and The Running Billabong. With beautiful waterfalls, incredible cascades and lush green scenery this has to be one of the best creeks found in Lamington.
Our first night was spent at the top of Running Creek Falls followed by a night in the remote stretches of the rainforest.
We walked sections of the Strecher Track, which is long considered a "classic" walk in South East Queensland. The Strecher Track was originally cut for the rescue of two survivors from the Stinson plane crash in 1937.
Shot entirely in S-Cinetone with the Sony ZV-E1 (16-35mm F4 PZ), DJI Mini Pro 3 and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Some of the gear I used (not sponsored) is as follows:
    Tent - Slingfin Portal 2P
Backpack - Wilderness Threadworks 63L Ossa (Custom)
Quilt - Tier Gear Quenda Quilt (-4c, Wide/Wide/Wide)
Gaiters - Tas Gear Gaiters (Large)
Sleeping Pad - Big Agnes Rapide SL
Gear Storage - Orange Brown Packing Cubes
    Get inspired -

Beautiful, i know the area well. However, you appear to be camping in areas that are not designated remote camps which is not a good look if promoting care of the bush and appropriate walker behaviour (not to mention illegal!)

How do you guys navigate your trip?

Hey Peter. I generally do a fair bit of research and looking at topographic maps prior to the hike. I use my compass and phone mainly for navigation (Gaia maps) and carry a backup Garmin as well. I hope that helps.

Wow what a spectacular walk! Do you know the exact trail you started and ended at? Would love to visit myself.

Thanks. It' starts at Gap Creek and initially follows the Stretcher Track. Please note, that the majority of the hike is off-track.

Awesome little creek! And way more water than I was expecting, especially over the waterfall. You're right, that waterhole is the place to be in summer haha.

Sure is. It’d certainly be taxing to attempt in the summer but that waterhole would be gorgeous to relax in!
