    I think the best course of action is to start a new by creating your own private army and doing contracts across the Byzantine Empire in order for you to regain your status. By having a private army of men at arms, it would be easier for you to gain territory. I suggest not to try and go back to Crimea but instead try your luck on the mainland. I think Antoninus would be the perfect person to carry out such an endeavor. Michael should focus on this and by the time his done he should be a governor of a prestigious province. Keep up the good work. I love the content so far.

    @16:52 Making Antoninus your martial will give him a bonus to his Martial lifestyle gain, so that will help him to get better faster over time. Once he gets into his early-mid 20's, he should be ready to be a Governor perhaps? With his Logistics trait, he may also possibly make a good Caravan Master?

    Wow! What an episode! All the highs and lows! And now, the Crimean Peninsula is unified, but... not as the House of Sebastopoulos had hoped. Still, you're the Basileus' brother, and that ain't nothin'. Hope the story can continue!

      Yeah, I loved how that worked out too. I'm trying to get the save back up with the help of a wonderful subscriber. Hopefully I can get it working again this weekend!

    To quickly see if you (or who in general) is on your liege's council, go to the far right of the screen, and click on the button to bring up YOUR council. At the top of the box that displays your council, there is a tab for your liege's council. That will show you who is on your liege's council at any time.

      Hopefully… the save is currently bugged and the game just crashes on the same date :( I’ve submitted a report on Paradox CK3 forums. There are a few others that have the same issue, so we’ll see if it gets resolved… :(

    Now that you have a family member on the Imperial throne, you should have access to the Estates feature. You should look into building up your family's estate. You should also look into seeing if you can get yourself a Theme to govern, raising your own status should make it easier for you to negotiate things with your brother.

      @immersioneer honestly, I don't know. I haven't played with the estates mechanic yet. From what I can tell, they are constructed in a barony? So maybe you have to open a barony tab?

      I recorded 1 episode today, but at the end of it, unfortunately, the game crashed and keeps crashing 5 days after autosave… I’m trying to find a way to fix it, but I’m afraid it’s not looking good :((( Will try to reinstall the game now… otherwise we’ll need to wait for a hotfix… if that will fix it…

    this was a very interesting campaign, you managed to get your dynasty on the throne which is considerably better than i did.
    I think paradox came out with a few patches in the last few days so the saves may be less compatible, alternatively it may be a problem with becoming un-landed without a family estate.

      Yeah, I've submitted a report on their forums and saw at least one other person having the same issue. I've uploaded my save file there, so hopefully this will be fixed. Probably the best CK3 game I've ever had - so gutted we might have to abandon it :((((

    You are getting so many heathens in your court because they are wanderers. Wanderers travel to a court, stay there for a couple of years, then wander off to another court hoping to get an appointment somewhere (given a council position, made a knight, get a marriage arrangement, having a claim pressed...). Wanders always wonder from their current court to nearby courts. Since you are a borderland court, you will get most of your wanderers form the steps. You could always ask these heathen wanderers to convert. But either way, they will move on to another court all on their own if you do nothing with them.
    If a wanderer comes to your court with a claim, then under your casus belli tab, you will see an option to declare war to press their claim. If you press their claim, and the title you pressed is lower tier than yours, then they will become your vassal.

      Good to know, but I wish I could turn away any heathens from my court :) none of them even liked me :)

    • @spamfilter32
      @spamfilter32 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @immersioneer you can, but your traits meant it cost you to do so. You could have demanded conversion instead of just blanket kicking them out.

    @1:01:17 After unsieging your capital, if you went over to Crimea where the flag with the red background and 4 gold diamonds, and sieged that, that is the capital of the person who is attacking you. Sieging that down, is likely the only hope you have of winning. Maybe you get lucky and get a valuable hostage. None of the territory in Alan has any war score because that is the attackers ally, not the attacker. Only land with war score is yours (because it is the target) and the Kazarian controlled Duchy of Crimea (because that is the attacker). And Constantinople, because that is the capital of the person being attacked (Cyrus, not you).

    @spamfilter32 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    @50:24 It wouldn't matter if you had an alliance with the Abkhazians. This isn't your war; it is your liege's war. So, Cyrus would have to be the one with the alliance with the Abkhazians to call them in.

    • @immersioneer
      @immersioneer  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, to be honest, I didn’t quite understand how the Admin govt worked. I think the right way to roleplay Byzantine then is just to gun for good governorships and ultimately the Emperorship, not really investing into “your” land… although, on the other hand, we could have made a name for ourselves in Crimea and used our influence to retain that governorship while putting our dynasty into positions of power - which is pretty much what we did… it was a very narrow loss for us in the end…

    @44:30 How do you expect this war to ever end if you refuse to send your army to help fight it? Don't forget that fully half the Athenian army is your army.

    • @immersioneer
      @immersioneer  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How is the Athenian army my army? I didn’t send anyone there because at the start of the war Athenians were way stronger, so I thought they would take care of it. We couldn’t really afford to send troops all the way to Sicily and leave ourselves exposed…

    • @spamfilter32
      @spamfilter32 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @immersioneer it's not that their army is yours so much as the total listed army is yours. There was (if I remember correctly) 2000ish men, of which you contributed approx 1000. Since you never sent your army over there, they were fighting with only half the total army. Luckily, they seem to have gotten a stack wipe on their enemy to basically end it.

      I don’t think we could have done better though? We had the Emperor and the Abkhazians, the two strongest allies we could get that were close, reliable, and had their interests closely aligned with ours. No?

  • @Huntanor
    @Huntanor 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    You must hold a hplding to raise troops. If you are totally sieged out of a war you cannot raise armies. If this was your war it would be a loss as well. This is the Basilius' war so it continurs but all of your resources are under enemy control. The game maybe should not have let you buy mercinaries but if one of your holdings was going to unsieged (say it was two wars and one was about to end removing the siege it would let you raise again.

    • @Huntanor
      @Huntanor 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This is the normal gameplay of the game as a vassal under a higher title. You get protected by the troops of the empire because they decide to attack you based on the highest liege's power. If you were independent, this would have happened years ago because you've never been stronger than them independently. Your personal power is weak compared to your enemies. Eventually, they would try your liege and you'd have to depend on the AI to win. This is why Maa trumps all. Because it increases your personal power at the most efficient rate.

    • @immersioneer
      @immersioneer  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I should definitely be able to raise mercenaries in an allies territory though or summon them to unsiege my own holding - they are not drawn from men in my county. That should definitely be possible, I think…

    • @Huntanor
      @Huntanor 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@immersioneer I don't really agree about the ease your implying to raise on an allies territory. A great example is The King of Ruthenia in the 1066 start date historically a rebellion put someone else on his throne and removed all of his holdings. He had to spend years in poland convincing allies and mercenaries to get his lands back. He didn't just cross over to his brother, raise instant mercs and continue to fight. Many times rulers are unseated and have to work very hard to convince other rulers to help out because they already lost once. Holding all of a target is the win condition of a war. If the defender still has land they can fight on but war score ticks up. Once you lost your last keep you were occupied, effectively limited by the enemy troops outside your keep. In real life you likely would have fled with what you could carry to your brothers army. The game doesn't do that because it wants to give you some agency. But realistically you would have no access to your wealth and most people would see you as already diposed. Your brother and liege has the power to fight on until eventually everyone accepts the territory is lost (ticking score in game). This is why I believe the more accurate way to show this is to not let you buy mercenaries. Why would 1000 sell sword join a nearly lost war were they would be fighting an army that is still a quarter bigger than your brothers. This is the kind of thing in real life that notoriously lead to sell swords flipping sides for a bribe.

    The Kagan of Kazaria's levies are not really an impediment to you. It is those Horse Archers, 800, and you have no counter to them. Thankfully the Kagan died and the new Kagan's army is not as strong. Hopefully you are able to act quickly before he can replenish those armies. Too bad his other brothers didn't take some of that empire for themselves. Kazaria has to be an empire tier title to hold together like that.
