Fitting mine at the moment. Looks really sleek and discrete compared to the Oxford grips, but they are also a bit more expensive. A bit of advice. Use compressed air and a "pistol" attachment with a long thin tube to pull the old grips off. Just blow under the grips and see them lift off.
Just adding some tips to all this. I bought another throtte tube grip on eBay. Took it to the wire wheel on grinder. Zipped rubber right off. The issue came with the ribs. Used exacto to slice them off. Sanded with 220 whole tube. Tried to slide grip on tube as a test fit and broken the locating pin in the switch housing instantly. Drilled hole and screwed housing to bars from inside on the saddle clamp for drive by wire. Very solid now. Back to grip - I ended up beating it on with a rubber mallet on the bench. It’s never coming off again. Left side I just glued and beat on. Looks perfect. Oriented just like yours. Now I was hunting the wiring. Took a break and found this vid. I can’t use the one up front as it’s used for the led ring on the ftr1200 led headlight. So to the back I go I guess. My garage needs air conditioning...
Just a follow up. She’s all cleaned up and together again. Works great. Little female spade was right where you said it was tucked and taped with harness plugs under seat. 12.7 volts switched. Removed tank and went along left side rail. Wasn’t a hard project but damn it was time consuming. Now if it wasn’t so humid and hot here in PA, I could use them. Haha.
Andrew Clark that’s awesome! Glad it worked out. Any and all tips welcome. Some guys did it way quicker than I did. I really like then grips. I even use them on low durning late summer nights. Sometimes it gets cool By the water and it just takes the edge off. Thanks for the great write up!
Great video BTW. So I've been reading many comments on other sites about these grips. Peoples biggest complaint is that during summer months or even warmer days that the button can easily be pressed. Did people not see how the connections were made? just disconnect the 12V positive wire during extended periods of no use. Pretty simple.
Rion Frawley i haven’t found it to be an issue. Even if one did occasionally accidentally press the button. I think the odd accidental press is a fake trade for a clean install and not having to look at a dashboard panel like the Oxford have. Plus at the price point. These are hard to beat.
Jay Fast I order mine earlier today with some hand guards to keep the wind off. I’m good at keeping the rest of my body warm the only issue I have is my hands on cold rides
Rion Frawley nice! Ya same for me. I can keep my body warm. But the hands were tough. These grips are so nice. Even in mid sept or late August at night. Just on low to take the edge off. They are great. My Corbin seat i also ordered with heat. So now I’m really stylin.
Well I was able to get the throttle tube and grip removed from it without any damage. It takes a little time but worth saving the stock grip in case you ever need it. Small screwdriver and WD-40. Slow worked the rubber loose and squirting WD-40 in to keep it releasing from the plactic.
I wish that was true! Let me put it this way. Get your hair dryer, put it on high, and blow it in your face. That's AZ in July, going 60! LOL But its a dry heat!
Joe Davis ok. I’ve put some serious thought into this. Buy one of those hard hat beer holder things. Mount to your helmet. Put ice water into it. And instead of the hose going to your mouth. Run it to your handlebars. At speed. It will work like a venturi tube in a carburetor. Spritzing you with ice cold mist. Maybe add some tropical tanning oil to it and you would look bad ass! All glistening and shiney, chest hair flowing in the wind like the motorcycle god you are!
Dexter x nice. I think you’ll be happy with them. I don’t think so. The left side is wicked tight! I used just a drop of glue. I twisted them on. Two hands. The throttle side just takes time and patience. You pretty much have to scrap the rubber off. Or peel like a carrot. I then used the blade to scrape the final bits off. It was an easy slip on and off. Wiring was a sinch. Pretty complete kit.
Anibal J. Sarotto best colour out there. Ya. They are inexpensive and work really well. Plus they look stock. Avon makes some that are large and more decorative but I wanted something subtle
Frommageface 1,000,000x yes For $160 Canadian you can’t go wrong. Heck I was even using them on low in sept. I can’t even imagine riding without heated grips anymore.
Jay Fast was wondering if heated grips keep your hands completely warm. I have non heated gloves and it seems like my finger tips get cold the fastest. Does it work well enough to keep the fingers from going numb?
Jared D yes. Obviously there are times when it’s just so cold that nothing helps. I am a generally warm guy. I don’t chill easily. But these grips allow me to wear and all season / summer leather glove year round. When it gets to just a few degrees above freezing we’ll there isn’t a hole lot you can do with out some extra heated gear. The thumbs can get cold. That’s the only thing. But this puts off a lot of heat. Even if these one shit out next week. I’d still buy another set.
No. There a ground lug in the bike. Use that. There will be many other grounds on it. But yes. You can ground to your battery. And positive to the switched wire.
Jeffrey Moat the whole thing took about 3 hours. Getting the rubber off the throttle tube was the worst part. It took the most time. Other than that the kit was very complete. All I added that didn’t come with it was a spade connector
Jeffrey Moat ya they will. I ordered them online. www.kimpex.com/en-ca/home You’ll be happy you did. Or the Oxford. I just didn’t want the little control panel.

stoissdk yes. I believe there are about $25 more. At least here in Canada.

Thanks for the great write up!
These are definitely something I would be interested in. Thanks for the video.
Photo Biker do it. They were inexpensive. I’ve never owned a bike with heated grips before. I am a huge fan.
Our weather doesn't get quite as cold as yours, but the damp cold we get is horrible. My heated grips on the GS get a lot of use.

Jay Fast yeah I bought the Memphis shades hand guards too. I’m looking to keep the frigid winter winds off my knuckles at highway speeds.

Another good one Jay Fast! I don't think ill need them in AZ! Let me know if you find a Air conditioned grip! lol. Thank you for the vids!
Joe Davis 😎I think you just go faster

You Sir, ARE THE MAN!!!!
Joe Davis 50/50 when you sell it on dragons den.
Thanks Jay
Dexter x 9 months and these have been a life saver!!!!
🤘🏽on the videos.. Any suggestions about buying and or installing the heated grips..
Miguel Brown I like these the best. They are a bit understated design wise. I like the low key control panel. Inexpensive.
Has calipers, uses tape. Thanks for the vid just about to install mine.
Philip Parana hahah. Ya. It’s a digital read out. Dead battery. What can ya do.
Mine just arrived, I got them base don this video...I will be fitting them soon, any tips you didn't cover in the video?
Dexter x nice. I think you’ll be happy with them. I don’t think so. The left side is wicked tight! I used just a drop of glue. I twisted them on. Two hands.

Dexter x how have they been treating you?
Hey Jay, Great Video! The rear cable that works with the ignition can hold up with the consumption of the heated grips? Thanks!!
Anibal J. Sarotto yes. Going a year now. No issues. Still loving the grips
Jay Fast Thanks man!! I will folow your steps on my bobber (Same colour as yours) 👍
Anibal J. Sarotto best colour out there. Ya. They are inexpensive and work really well. Plus they look stock. Avon makes some that are large and more decorative but I wanted something subtle
Awesome Vid.
Lee Gener loving them still!
Another killer video. I'm saving so much $ on therapy watching your vids. 😉
casey roskwitalski ha. Well I’m spending so much on parts :)👍
Nice video. I notice that you had a saddlebag on your bike, where did you get that one from? And for you know if it will fit the 05 Indian scout?
Alberto Munguia it’s a genuine Indian accessory. Got it from the dealer. It’s was extremely over priced. I’ll be doing a video on it too.
Nice install vid!
yankeewhite thanks. They seem like a good product
Now that you've had them 8 months just curious if you still like these and do they work well? Worth it? I've thought about getting them.
Frommageface 1,000,000x yes

did you attach the negative (black) wire directly to the battery? and the positive to the ignition sourced wire?
No. There a ground lug in the bike. Use that. There will be many other grounds on it. But yes. You can ground to your battery.
And positive to the switched wire.
Excellent video, Jay. Professional install. Wanna do mine? ;)
Jeffrey Moat the whole thing took about 3 hours. Getting the rubber off the throttle tube was the worst part. It took the most time. Other than that the kit was very complete. All I added that didn’t come with it was a spade connector
Jay Fast - thx. Ottawa Springs are cold. These would do the trick. My first project to tackle!
Jeffrey Moat ya they will. I ordered them online. www.kimpex.com/en-ca/home
You’ll be happy you did. Or the Oxford. I just didn’t want the little control panel.
Was the keyed ignition source taped to your of the harness under the seat?
It’s loose. It can be tricky to find as it’s such a small wire. But it’s there.
