I backed Scythe, and then later found out that the same company made this, Euphoria, and Viticulture. I've only played Euphoria, but watching your descriptions of the others, I'm thinking that Stonemeier is going to be one of my favorite developers. They just knock it out of the park, every time!
Excellent! My brother is getting this game tonight for his birthday. I figured that an extra bonus to his present would be to teach him the game to avoid having to read the rulebook all night! Thank you!
We picked this up as a promo copy from our shop's distributor at the last games night on Saturday. I vaguely remembered it had an interesting concept from your video but couldn't remember much. Thankfully, the included rules are concise and well written so we picked it up easily. Obviously certain strategies we should have followed only became apparent at the end but you get that with any game.
One small point you'll notice looking at the scoring for parks - while "bigger parks are more grand", once they reach a certain size, the returns rapidly diminish. Having one park of size 5 is worth far less than having one of size 3 and one of size 2. Even two small size 2 parks is worth more than on size 4 park. The rules explain that multiple medium parks can serve more residents at once than a single large park. I'm fast becoming a fan of Stonemaier, having played Viticulture and now this gem.
1:32 I think those tokens are landmarks! I took a closer look at the game's page and I think I see the Colosseum, Eiffel Tower, Pyramids and the Golden Gate Bridge (?) Did I make a mistake or am I missing something? Also, Gateway Arch, Big Ben and I think the Taj Mahal?

What is the exact order of things happening in the "open negotiations" phase? Is there another simultaneous reveal of which of the 2 buildings goes on which side?

I believe it would be accurate for me to say that the spirit of the game is that you are just discussing with both your partners and in the end, you'll make a decision which is not a secret, but a collaboration. Already love the design based on the random seating cards; this is what Secret Hitler needed badly. The open negotiation is very cool but sounds like it can get crazy; in a 3-player game, how is it not one player waiting while the other two players negotiate? Seems a bit stop and go... also the tie-breaker of "lowest seating order goes first" for tile placement seems unfair. It means that the lowest seating order player gets priority over both the person to their left and their right the entire game. Love the drafting mechanic though, and quite interesting that it's "interrupted" by placement turns and then resumed after; definitely altering what a player would take. Strategically, feels a lot like Honshu (or vice versa). Anyhow, looking to get it on the table tonight, I think! Question, Rodney, why are the unused tiles placed on the score board if they are just going to be discarded later? Is this merely to not confuse them with undrawn tiles in the box?

You have defiantly helped me make some purchase decisions. Now I am considering, between two cities and wingspan. Example: Scythe.
How do you think it compares to 7 Wonders? (That game was the reason I first started watching your videos, btw.) For my group, it sounds like it'll be the sweet spot - more interesting than Sushi Go! and not as complicated as 7 Wonders.
