It really is sad that Rivals is manley known as the Ronald and 100% accurate Fox game. If Rivals was just a mediocre platform fighter with subpar character design, nobody would care about it. The workshop would not be nearly as good if the base characters were mediocre.
Living in a Post Adam Carra World makes this realization hurt. Especially after his countless vids. Worlshop in other games are cool... but with rivals actually focusing on character traits... it made characters unique. Fraymakers workshop just cant compare
I agree with what you said about Alpharad. It feels like a lot of these youtubers and twitch streamers love to pretend that they care about other platform fighters when they secretly just see them as nothing but Smash clones. What's crazy is I remember way before NASB 2 came out, I commented on someone else's video watch all these influencers pretend to like this game and then quickly drop it and youtuber Choctopus responded to my comment. He said that's not true and that he's been anticipating the game's release. What's ironic is that I don't even see him playing or talking about the game anymore. He pretty much proved my point. Where tf did all the support go lol ? Hungrybox does the same thing. Hype up other platform fighters, play them for a little while, and then go right back to playing Smash. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Good convo overall. And I agree, and commented earlier not to advertise and focus too much on the smash crowd and instead general audience. I'm willing to bet money even if NASB 2 was a much better game, many smashers would drop it, but it still have a bigger community. At this point, Platform Fighter devs that rely too heavy on the smash crowd are like a battered spouse; at some point its time to move on. Also not sure if you pay attention to monster taming games, but the comment about Nintendo fans rings true. A lot of the insults/dismissing that is done from Smash fans to Platform fighters is done from Pokemon fans to monster taming games. -Clone/knock off -Fall off. -Will(insert here) sue? etc. Its amusingly and eerily similar. Anyone who's been around both spaces will know what I mean.
Alpharad can do whatever he wants with plat fighter content. I just think its disrespectful that instead of having a retort... maybe helping out the genre that helped you grow... we just use reductive statements. Idc is he likes excaliburn and is doing stuff in rivals 2. To me... he hasnt learned anything since adam carras workshop video.
Nasb 2 Is a Good hell even great game i play it occasionality offline with the rougelike story it's when i play online the game just hits the fan the game exposing it's many exploits and bugs. But in the rare chance i face someone on my level it's incredibly fun
Seeing this after the reveal just reaffirms my belief that no one makes heavies like Aether Studios. Loxodont looks crazy and Kragg already looks pretty good for what he was in Rivals 1. I hope they do just as good a job of keeping heavies viable
@@garf6748 wait now that you mention it that sounds familiar. I think I actually did see that I had just forgotten all about it. Makes sense for that to be on a sai character of all things
"We're gonna get to Fraymakers soon in one of our discussions." Sobbing and crying as they proceed to indirectly mention it in the no need for IP based platform fighters section... Not even the Workshop Cringe section either.....
