Talking about alignments. For me, i use toe plates and tape measures. Then for camber i just use one of those magnetic angle finders used for fabrication. It is qucker than setting up strings, at least for me personally. I did it that way since no shop wanted to touch my car after i put coilovers on it. And now i can get the car to handle exactly how i want, on my own

Veterans of HPA will remember that Ep2 of the podcast starts out by discussing strings for wheel alignment. 👍

Good man! Even I didn't remember that! Mr Kojima also gets a little into the weeds with alignments in general I think - Taz.

what might be interesting is to modify the car itself to have a place on each side to stick a rod in, that was the perfect length to hang the strings from.
going to look into welding something like that to the car frame. Then the rods can be super tiny and fit in the car when you go to the track

need a string alignments setup that folds down into the smallest footprint possible for taking with you to the track, when you don't have a support vehicle along with you

You can fit this one in the boot. Goes into a rectangle travel bag 😎
If you have the room it is a bit quicker if you can leave them setup, but I would consider them portable when packed up personally - Taz.

Random question, the Q7 in the intro, whats the project going on with that? Have some 3D printed lower intake runners for the 3.0T that I would love to see another group using!

The Q7 was going to be used for some WinOLS content but we've gone in a different direction (still a Bosch EDC). The Q7 was borrowed from a friend so we don't have a good home for that intake either sadly! - Taz

In rallying having the ability to lock wheels has saved the moment through a sort of controlled spin / slide when all goes pearshaped . Are there any disadvantages in being unable to lock wheels in racing

Rally doesn't have a choice as the rule book doesn't allow it, noting they do have a handbrake. ABS has pros and cons which will change according to the type of racing, surfaces and budgets rather than being the best and only solution for everyone, everywhere, ever.
Traditionally ABS has generally suffered on unsealed surfaces but it's also come a long way and is still improving as a technology. Motorcycles for example integrate an IMU into ABS control these days, although I am not an expert on exactly where things were at with ABS in the WRC before it was banned or if it was tarmac only or always in use sorry - Taz.

Bloody inconsiderate to have a wedding day on a race weekend. The # of people of known over the decades that have postponed their own wedding, one even used the wedding gift money to buy a new set of tyres🙂
