That is a good point. There is a problem with your idea of using voice control. If your in an area where the car don’t have Cellular connectivity then voice control don’t work. I also found if you look at the car screen to cancel Navigation you can get a FSD strike with no warning if your in area with no cellular connectivity. That is what happened in my first ever FSD strike. I was on a straight area with no traffic glanced at screen to change route and instant take over immediately symbol came up. And I had my first strike. Before someone say use voice control, I tried and it failed because I had no cellular connectivity.
So if you find your in area where there is no cellular connectivity maybe cancel FSD before you try screen adjustment.

Interesting! I don’t use the phone at all because I am hard of hearing. I usually get off the road to parking lot and read messages or read the map. Cheer girl! 🥂

Hmm, i guess that makes sense. I got a strike out as well while FSD was disengaged. Had my left hand on the wheel and my right hand was using my phone on a phone mount next to the screen.. My car started notifying me about paying attention and it didn't want to stop notifying me. After maybe 10 seconds it gave me a strike out screen just like what you showed in the video @1:26. Weird thing is... I've been doing it for years and I'm still doing it but for some reason, that one time it just gave me a strike... I wonder if it's because of a bug in one of the updates. Thanks for the video, very informative as always!

Voice control is under appreciated and should be used more.

Great video Joy. I use the phone feature on my M3P but I have never synced the contacts. I'll give it a try.

The Tesla voice control and phone sync functions are key as you point out. I actually prefer to use Siri on my iPhone for phone calls as I can start a call before I get into the car and continue it once I'm in the car. I also find that Siri is better for initiating group iMessages as the Tesla voice control doesn't yet handle group messages well. Cheers!

Hi Beautiful, yes having your contacts synched is a good idea…but I don’t like doing it because my passenger can see the names and phone numbers of my calls; I believe that information should remain private.

I agree your friend should sync her contacts to her Tesla screen, but I thought that feature was only available on the recent update. So I assumed it wasn't available before Dec. '2022.

      It’s always been there. 🤭

Joy, I have been trying to find out why my calendar and my texts are not synced with my car. I go to it nothing comes up and I don’t have a setting on my Tesla app to sync my calendar.

Thanks but it’s not a specific address, only the general area. 😉

    1) syncing contacts is fine, but it does not emulate exactly what you have set up on iPhone. First and last names are sometimes inverted, etc
    2) voice command to search for contacts is spotty at best, and often returns wrong contact, probably due to #1 but also poor voice analysis in Tesla. Siri does a WAY better job. (Hopefully, Tesla will improve with AI)
    3) syncing messages is VERY limited. It only syncs “new” conversations during drive and clears it all when car is parked. Additionally, it does NOT sync group conversations, but treats them as individual streams. (Dumb).
    4) syncing calendar is also very limited as to what it syncs. It only syncs today’s events.
So, your video is fine, but also mention the limitations in your reviews, as the “non-tech-savvy” people will be looking for something that is not there and then get frustrated and just give up.

good info but you didn't go in to how use the voice control and way too long of a discussion. I follow many people and if I watched all of their videos at normal speed I would spend all day watching. I try to limit my time to 1.5 to 2 hrs. a day. Thank for the work you do. I do watch.

English is my second language so I don’t talk fast. Feel free to skip forward. That’s why I put chapters in this video.
