    Lol! No valve adjustment or compression release on the old opposed twin flat head Briggs. Upper bearing on the starter is notorious for failing and causing the starter to drag on these.

    Hey nephew. Not sure if it's the same problem on the Briggs twins as on the single cylinders. But, check your valve adjustments. They get out of wack or the rocker bolt backs out of the engine. This makes too much compression and keeps it from getting over the top, like yours is doing. Jumping even a dead battery from the car should be enough to crank it fast enough. Also often overlooked is the ground wire connection to the frame.

      Those are some great tips, after i drop the topped off batteries in it tomorrow if that doesn't work ill try your other suggestions. Thanks for the tips!

    The little sticker that says 2-11 means feb 2011 , battery is 6 years old, check your ground wire make sure its good and clean. And try a new or known good battery also the starter may be wore out, seems ok with no load but will ne sluggish when the plugs are in

    Too much compression take the spark plugs out and crank it over there is no adjustment for the valves because it's a flat head
