I'm actually very interested in these. They are a little pricey but they seem like they could drastically improve the drawing experience on the iPad without diminishing the quality of the screen.
@@Edinburgh1000 You're right, of course. They are a small company selling an accessory that only a fraction of iPad users are going to be interested in. Plus, if I already spent a bunch of money on an iPad (and a Pencil) I'm not gonna be too bothered spending a bit more to alleviate one of it's more glaring flaws.
I’m glad someone is making this, but it’s kind of ridiculous that Apple functionally requires using a third party accessory to not make its $120 pencil suck on glass. I mainly use my styluses for writing with occasional drawing, and the two big iPad competitors (Samsung and Microsoft) don’t have this problem.
@@Edinburgh1000 and as a result, everyone who wants to use the device ends up needing to destroy the screen quality with a matte protector, or make the pencil dirty with silicon covers/ tips.
I hope this goes as popular enough as the Paperlike so Apple would consider changing to rubber tips with the next gen Apple Pencil, they really have no excuses to especially with Samsung who's been using rubber/silicone tips just fine.
@@Kogami at the end of the day it’s a matter of preference. i actually wouldn’t want this tip by default. the original one is better suited for ALL pencil users and a wider range of use cases. people don’t universal think it’s sucks on glass - maybe that’s only a popular opinion amongst illustrators. there are many different ways people use the pencil, from drawing to photo editing to note taking or simple pdf markup. it’s not a requirement to buy this accessory at all. i’ve used ipad pro since 2017 with the 1st gen pencil with no problems. but it’s always nice to have some options to customize how you personally want to use your products with some 3rd party accessories.
Thanks for reviewing this, Teoh. I'm planning to get an iPad Pro soon, so feedback on accessories is important to me. You just saved me from trying to go to the trial and error route of trying out matte screen protectors, when I can just get one of these.
I tried both. First generation I like due to the quality and durability, but hate that they fall off so easy. With Pentip 2 I only managed to work (write) for one hour before they were broken, and I tried with two of them. I do not use a screen protektor, so Imo they are not worth the money. I had really hoped they were better, cause I hate the tapping noise with Apple org. tips.
The original pen tips which are just a fine layer of silicone usually last for ages, so I think the ones that are solid silicone are likely to last a really, really long time.
I bought something similar from another third party but the silicone friction is just a smidge too much still. Its almost on the opposite spectrum, stock tip is too slippery but the third party tip with intergrated silicone is abit too grippy. Samsung still has the formula down in this regard their tips for me always have just the right balance, it doesn’t feel like an actual pen but the resistance and ease of movement are just right
after a while, my hand just got used to drawing on the glass screen so not sure I need something like this. maybe there is a cheaper version on aliexpress.
Great review. Thank you. I don’t like how the matte protector changes the clarity of the screen so this tip will be nice to have. Also enjoyed the doodling.
May I ask, how does this compare to the leather pen tip from PencilLovers that you reviewed a while back? I found that much more enjoyable to use compared to PenTips 1 as I disliked the “rubber dragging on glass” feel of the first gen PenTips, but i’m curious how PenTips 2 holds up against it.
Thank you. How does it compare to their gen 1 tip in regards to writing notes? I have the gen 1 tips and find the grip a bit too much, really slowing down my writing. Is gen 2 improved on this?
What about using this on a mat screen protector does it increase the friction further? What about the cheap silicon tips that cover the pen do u think they will feel the same?
I am a traditionally trained artist who is well-versed in most physical tools and media and I have also been working with digital wacom pens since 2002. And I also bought ipad pro and apple pencil and i am one of those people who have no problem with the slick gliding on glass by apple pencil. And i specifically don't like rubber tips feel on glass. I would suggest that you can use butter paper or architect paper taped to the ipad for that authentic scrubbing feeling and sounds. Or a notch of double sided tape on the tip (a few millimeter ) and stick a similar tiny notch of paper on the tape. That might give the old school pencil feeling. (disclaimer: i have not tried it yet myself 🤣) Will update in few hours.
Thank you fro the review of the pentips 2,very helpful. I really like the line quality you’re getting in the concepts app. Using the unpredictable nature of the pen pressure in the app to your advantage. I think I’ll download it myself and try it out. I just started using the pen tips original tips or lite as they call them. Not sure quite what I think yet, early days. I like that they remove the hard plastic against glass tapping sound and that they give you more control but there’s something about the drag of the rubber/silicon that I’m not so keen on. Hopefully I’ll get used to it. I see pentips have or are bringing out a removable magnetic matt screen protector. It looks interesting. Will you be reviewing it perhaps?
@@GabePickles3837 Since I no longer use matte screen protectors, I go with non-screen protector options. Actually, I just draw with the default Apple Pencil tip. Got used to it already.
Oh, that looks interesting. Pretty expensive but better than a matte screen protector that lowers down the quality of my beautiful ipad screen. Might consider buying them.
I ordered the pen tips 2, took more than a month to get them and took less than 3 hours to wear them down. The tip of the tip rubs off exposing a metal part inside that scratches your Ipad screen. Do not buy it...!!!
I don’t recommend the Pen Tips 2, they took 2 months to ship, and less than a month into owning them, 2 out of 3 of them are dead. One of them rubbed down to the metal without my realizing, and scratched the screen of my iPad. Definitely do not recommend.
No compres el pentip 2. Se gastan rapidísimo, exponiendo una punta de metal que rasga la pantalla de tu Ipad. A mi me duraron 2 a 3 horas cada una, volví a la punta original de Apple.

I had the exact same thing. These pen tips wear our extremely quickly
This is a very thorough and informative review, thank you so much!
I prefer the covers. I got those and one only lasted a day, as I have a rough surface Screen Protector. The covers are pretty resiliant.
I think it's not meant to use it with paper like films. The point is using it without a film to reduce the sound and sliding
How does it feel compared to Samsung's default rubber nib on their S-pen?
S Pen tip is more smooth. This has the rubbery resistance
They should release it in felt like material or whatever Samsung uses on S pen tips.
I wonder how long these rubber tips would last before it gets worn off, with regular use as an artist?
Not sure about that. the rubber seems quite thick
