It really did hurt me as a music theory student when you said root note is 0. You should've taken the root note as 1 cuz it's essensial for understanding, major or minor 3rd intervals and other intervals including that of extended chords. If you see this comment please let people know.
I 100% agree but I've encountered a lot of confusion with people that only make music in DAWs because of the semitone transposition. A perfect fifth is 7 semitones above the root and if you call the root "1" and start counting up, you'll end up with 8 which is incorrect.
Also, majority of people would then assume 8 is the amount of steps they need to count and would end up with the wrong note. When it comes to music theory I totally agree with you, but when brought into a DAW 0 actually makes more sense in my opinion. Creates less confusion!
Just learn the # system
For example at 1:26 he mentions 0-3-7. If you know the G minor scale G A Bb C D Eb F and number it 1-2-b3-4-5-b6-7 you would know a G Minor chord is G, Bb, D = 1 - b3 - 5 = b means flat and this works in any key
A Minor A B C D E F G = 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7
Aminor chord is A C E = 1 - b3 - 5 =
Same formula
SIMPLE
Again learn the # system. Dont have to count half steps or do all of this 0-3-7 11 i know alot of youtubers teach it but universal music is more known with the number system and when it comes to chord progressions like 1-5-6-4 and so on you will think me later
