  • Well with rumors swirling that dealerships wont take your Tundra in on trade if it is affected by the recall, we find out. Join me as I contact several local dealers to me and see if they will take my 2023 Tundra in on trade. I specifically mention the active recall with no fix. What will happen?

This video proves nothing! If you show the same amount of dealerships that give you a written appraisal of your trade in truck, that is compared to the expected value of the truck. That may show you something!
I have several Toyota dealerships that are dropping priced on new 2024 Tundras but are giving current owners nothing on trade in Tundra value due to the question what is the full repair of truck and who is going to be holding the ball on the repair. Yes toyota will do recall but the cost of repair and time to do repair will be the Question that needs answered?
Cannot sell new trucks and you think dealerships will take a problem truck in to sit on the lot and be a possible lemon?
Also, if or when your engine takes a dump will you show the video of it?

no reasons to trade it in just because of the recall. on your next oil change, take an oil sample of the old oil and send it in to the oil lab for analyst. if it comes out bad with bearing material in the oil.. that's when to get rid of it before the engine completely fail.

    • @LivingwithCable

  • @dcl97
    @dcl97 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

The sales departments will always tell you they will take it, but once they actually throw it to their buyer it's a different story. And they might well take it, but all dealers finance these purchases, and they are going to need enough overhead to cover their holding costs, so your offer is going to come down significantly. While they can't sell the car to consumers they can still sell to other dealers, so they are going to offer based strictly on auction prices, which are already tanking on Tundra's. The best way to get a good trade in price is to have a vehicle that will sell on their lot and turn a profit, that's not going to happen with these. Dealers will take them, but it will be bottom dollar unless they have so much profit on the front side of the sale they don't care to take a bit of a loss of the Tundra.

drive it like a rented mule, and, if you are the 1 in 100 tundras that go belly up, you'll either get a short block, or a new engine. or, if it doesn't go belly up, you'll possibly get a free extended warranty. from my perspective, i got no complaints.

This guy "Living with cable" is about as honest and informable as the "Mainstream Media".
Like the mainstream media often does, he leaves out a very important point.
How much are these dealers offering?
Dealers know some buyers may be in "Semi panic" and are more than ready to take advantage!
Well, I'll offer to buy his truck. How much you ask?
    Three cents!
Now how's that for telling the "whole story"? (and NOT skipping the most important part, $$$'s).

Well lucky for you, I spent my Saturday getting numbers from various dealers not just Toyota. You obviously missed the point that people were saying dealers were not taking them in. Call me crazy but I still think I would walk in and buy another right now. Several years ago I bought a F150 new. Actually it was election night. I hated that truck. I regretted buying it. It towed a trailer like crap.
Luckily I kept my 07 at the time for a work truck. I ended up selling that truck the following April and just drove my old tundra all the way up until December of 2022 when I smashed a deer.
That's when I bought this one and haven't looked back. So many are worried about the "what if"

There ain’t no way that a proud Japanese maker who invented a complete philosophy would suddenly turn into an American company. Toyota didn’t hire a non-Japanese running the show. So the big picture is they’d still die trying to maintain their philosophy and reputation. The engine issue is a muuuuuch greater issue than the Tacoma frame, but they replaced the frame anyway.
