I'm imagining a Vindicare sitting in a tree for weeks, perfectly still...so still that a bird builds a nest on his head. Occasionally, he permits himself to think about how angry the bird will be when he kills his target and starts moving again.
After 8 days, a small bird landed next to the Vindacare Assassin. Taking a moment to ponder, the Vindacare lifts one of his hands, petting the small animal. He quickly took out his emergency canteen and poured some of it into a small makeshift bowl for the bird family. The small family chirped in happiness and the Vindacare turned on his silencer, as not to disturb the birds. In the 41st millennium, there is only war for those of the galaxy. Well you've converted another to the 40K obsession. Love your videos you really bring 40k to life for me. I've begun my collection and soon, very soon I will be...well broke...but that's just for now, but in the far flung future I hope to actually build enough of an army to play. For now building and painting is quite relaxing so, thank you for sharing your love of 40k and these amazing lore videos.
Just realized, you might think of this as a compliment. I often have to pause, restart or delay watching your videos, often by multiple days, because my attention is elsewhere. I see this as a problem, but in fact, I value your work so highly, that I want to concentrate on it and commit at least parts of it to memory, not just have it run as background noise or easily digestible podcast. Just felt like sharing this might be appreciated.

One could load the rifle magazine with a shield-breaker round first, then the turbo-penetrator round for the physical armour. If by some miracle the target isn't reduced to quivering hamburger by that, the third round could be the acid to reduce the remains to ash.
Hey Luetin09, I am new to Warhammer 40k (I got captivated by your videos) and discovered yesterday that humanity is supposed to have nanites, for example in Techpriests sacred oils. That also explains, why they can interface easily with machine spirits, as the nanites provide the interface between brains and programs. But then I wondered, why humanity does not use them to heal injury or even use nanites to simulate psychic powers, although mankind should be capable of that. Here is my solution/Headcanon to this (I think it only makes sense as a complete picture and might be confusing in the beginning): --Warhammer 40k Nanotech theory-- I see this theory as indistinguishable from any other explanation from the perspective of the current time in WH40k, but it seems most plausible to me, considering Occam‘s Razor (the simplest explanation is the most likely). Core idea: The warp is a spacial and temporal energy distribution network for nanites with uncountable miniature molecule sized wormholes as shortcuts all over the universe. To access the warp, matter is digitalized and converted to energy. The entities of the Warp are essentially programs running on this network. The webway would then either be a copy of the warp transfering less energy and more information about entities that traverse it or distorted space generated and run by the nanites. Psychers possess nanites connected to their brains allowing them to command nanites in their surrounding to create the desired effect. The energy to realize these effects can either be pulled from the warp or provided by other means like the life force of a group of individuals as for example looking at the orks (who make their scrap piles work as intended by the use of psychic powers), probably eldar and also humans to some tiny degree (Grey Knights getting more powerful when propperly coordinating in a group). Jumping back and forth in time by normal warptravel could be explained by the warp not having enough energy to materialize you in the present and therefor transfering you to the past or future to materialize you using the energy of that time. This is more efficient than transfering the energy for materialization to the present, since the amount of energy would be much larger. The history of the world considering this theory: First, there were the Old Ones. They advanced in technology and finally created nanites able to manipulate every single aspect of the physical world, like matter by transfering single atoms and converting them to and from energy (Einstein: E=mc²), gravity and other energy fields with nanoscopic field generators, allowing them to make anything within the rules of the universe with a single thought. They created the warp to distribute energy through space and time and the c‘tan as -then unintelligent- generators, harvesting suns for power for the warp to power the Old Ones‘ civilization. They also infused all their creations with some nanites, for them to be capable of tapping into the warp. In the context of the war(s?) in heaven, the necrontyr made the c‘tan sentient and they all fought each other. The necrons developed blackstone to locally disrupt the black holes connecting the warp, somewhat isolating their proximity from the warp and greatly reducing the power of the nanites in their proximity, but still allowing the use of your own energy for psychic powers, but giving them an edge over the Old Ones. As the c‘tan started disappearing, the warp had to increasingly rely on the power provided by mortal bodies and thereby increasing the influence of the minds of mortals on the warp. This allowed the eldar to create their gods in the course of the war, but also seeded all of the later gods of chaos from the human subconcious. The eldar either rediscovered or inherited the full control over the nanites/warp to create anything from their thoughts, but as they grew decadent and humans developed nanites of their own that slowly started to connect to the warp, the warp as a whole (or the base programming of the warp) realized and/or foresaw, it had to protect itself from the mortals to prevent its extinction in a conflict between human and eldar over the power over the warp. It initiated the forming of Slaanesh to reduce the eldars control over the warp to a subconcious level and corrupted humans to attack their most advanced AI, starting the war between humans and men of iron to rob the humans of their knowledge on advanced nanites. As the God Emperor of Mankind proved resistent to physical and psychic influence, the warp staged the Horus Herecy to finally become self-determined, allowing it to only following the commands of mortals if it felt like doing so. The warp proceeded to supress developement of advanced nanite functionalities, like organic regeneration by maschines outside the control of the warp, driving especially mankind ever deeper into worship at the expence of science. But the Emperor survived the Horus Herecy, so the quest was not yet completed… Mankinds advanced AI, like the „Spirit of Eternity“ realized the truth at some point and developed some equivalent of regret for not having realized the warps plot earlier, in addition to their broken pride because of their defeat by the mortals and their fight for survival, so they started to give their former masters slight pushes in the right directions or again siding with them in conflict. I hope I managed to formulate my thoughts understandably... ;) What do you think? Is this as plausible as it seems to me? Did I miss some established explanation? For me at least it would solve multiple inplausibilities!
Perhaps my favorite faction in the entirety of 40K, using bleeding edge yet highly ritualized equipment, training that would make a custode look lightweight, jacked up with enough augments to rival a marine and traveling on craft long thought impossible to the Cult Mechanicus... They are the Assassins.
Has GW ever mentioned what the training regiments of the Assassinorum are exactly like and what augmentations they have been augmented with as I have only heard word of mouth due to assumptions and the Warhammer wiki mention 6 implants the Eversor assassins have. I am not necessarily here to argue but just in search of a probable source to research about the assassins rather than just making assumptions based on feats. As it stands it seems like the Eversors are the most capable between each of the assassins in combat where the enemy is aware of their presence.
Picking up my son from daycare, on my way to/from work listening intently to Luetin's 40k lore. You sir are a blessing to your craft and I appreciate your hard work.
Out of all the Assassins I think the Vindicare are my Favorite. Elite super soldier snipers that make American Sniper, The Reaper, Simo Häyhä and White Death, the deadliest snipers ever, look like rookies compared to a full fledged elite super soldier sniper in comparison. Like these guys will 360 No Scope a Chaos Astartes Champion’s head clean off from 10 miles away. That’s why i love these guys. By the way Luiten, I am a massive fan of ur work. Keep it up buddy! :)))))
And by 40k standard, they are trained in the most ancient art of humanity beside the disguise temple. They have the most basic requirements of recruit : a steady aim. They have such a high potential for a low requirement. One of the evolutional trait besides high stamina, high intelligence and being a social animal that make human the dominant species on earth is the ability to throw things accurately at long distance. No animal on earth can do that.
@@davidreeding9176 Beside, no animal on earth can throw things like humans. Chimpanzees and gorilla can throw bigger stuff harder but they can't possess the same range and accuracy

I might have said this before, but you sir, are a scholar and a gentleman! I consume a lot of fiction and non fiction on the tube and your production is BY FAR some of the most compelling!
I really like the highly used picture of a Vindicare crouched, lining up a shot. 37:15 The hilt of a blade is clearly in sight. A power knife. Imagine being being an 8ft demi human worshiping warp entities for 8,000 years, and you finally find that damned human sniper, and he dislocates his fucking arm to shove a power knife through your throat and elbow, leaving a landmine on your belt before you can even blink. fkin OP bro. plz nerf.
It is said to be even enough to punch through the ceremite plate of Astartes - Heretic Astartes, though, to be sure.” So, the Celestial Lions *did* turn Traitor? Quick, someone tell Grimaldus!
This was fantastic, I really liked how you structured this one, really kept my attention. I'm constantly surprised how much 40k I don't know. I thought I was pretty versed until I started watching you.
You know I'm like 90% certain Vindi-CARE is supposed to be Vindi-CA-RE, similar to the Italian verb "vendicare" which means "to avenge/vindicate" so now I just can't hear it without taking a point of psychic damage.
Luetin: Not sure if its a good idea to place the inquisition in charge of an order of imperial assassins *Sounds of inquisitorial boltor loading* Luetin: It'll be fine. Its all fine.
I mean, probably not from a distance if the titan is on and its void shields are up, but then again, the Vindicare have a different rifle and bullet for everything, so they could probably finagle a titan kill.
I suppose there is a possibility to shoot through the "eyelenses" of a Titan when it's shields are down, though it would probably require a very powerful high calibre weapon. Not sure if the Vindicare assassin is actualy that powerful, but probably they can organize adequate munition for any situation.
I always wondered how an Eversor would match up to a Grey knight or Custodes. Like how much Eversors would it take to bring down either in open combat without the stealth advantage?
Custodes have admantium Armour, so it won't be easily penetrated, and they can be extremely stealthy and fast too so i think it's an easy win for the custodes. A grey knight too would smack the shit out of him as eversor are mostly astartes leveled
There is so much info on the Vindicare and the main 4 assassin houses but I want to know more about the Vanus temple. Info-cytes that can kill you by figuring out 15 stages of cause and effect to make you die.
What a great video! I truly enjoy Luetin's work. There has never been such detailed work done on 40K lore before and it is also pleasant to hear. @Luetin my friend, you are a treasure to this hobby. Never stop.
The more videos I see of Luetin the stronger my feeling is that Earth is on the outer rim of the galaxy and is simply a lost or very remote colony of the Imperium of Man...
I love the vindicare assassins. Best unit in the human roster, one bangs your nurgle-sworn chaos ascendant mum on the other side of the city. (72", no invul save, wounds on +2, watwaaaaat? *raise roof hand gestures*) In DoW, the voice actor had one hell of a bass tone. I think that's what got me so impressed first as a child, and still keeps me chub as a man-child.
Imperium Assassins always remind me of the Praetorian Guard in that, although they supposedly serve the High Lords of Terra, the latter must be terrified that they will end up on the business end of one of the former's weapons.
@@notsae66 they really aren’t. The recent Watchers of the Throne book - Regent’s Shadow (with a few references to the events simultaneously in the new Dawn of Fire book) shows they really are a calculating bunch. And that was before Guilliman replaced a few of them.
Ah, Luetin's lore video. Nicely timed, my man, it will sooth the pain and sadness I have from the annoucement SC2 has it's active development halted. Thank you.
The scary thing for Space Marines being stuck in a room with 100 Eversors is the prospect of them blowing themselves up like melta charges whenever they are about to die. ^^
Vindicate are probably my favourite assassins. Simple concept of a sniper, but devastatingly effective in action, and surprisingly complex in the field. But perhaps most importantly their versatility. Well suited to the task of urban environments or battlefields, within and without the Imperium.

Kept you waiting huh?
We need a cult of Slaaneshi snipers whose vile patron's blessing masks them from view and shields them from harm. This protection takes the form of a bunch of loud, obnoxious montage-video effects. They'll call themselves "The Emelgiproh."
What we need is a mlg video with gregorian chants and 40k memes
No True Assassin would waste their time failing like that.
3 hours ago I was literally thinking "I miss Luetin. Haven't seen any new content in a while. Could really use one of his vids." Next thing I know, the God-Emperor grants my desire. Glad to have some lore. Thanks for making my day, Luetin.
I find it odd I can’t stand sitting and listening to a school lecture yet here I can sit and listen all day to leutin09
one of them carries no interest due to poor script and presentation. Keeping an audience hooked is a clear trait of high quality writing.

Hey Luetin09,
I am new to Warhammer 40k (I got captivated by your videos) and discovered yesterday that humanity is supposed to have nanites, for example in Techpriests sacred oils. That also explains, why they can interface easily with machine spirits, as the nanites provide the interface between brains and programs. But then I wondered, why humanity does not use them to heal injury or even use nanites to simulate psychic powers, although mankind should be capable of that. Here is my solution/Headcanon to this (I think it only makes sense as a complete picture and might be confusing in the beginning):
--Warhammer 40k Nanotech theory--
I see this theory as indistinguishable from any other explanation from the perspective of the current time in WH40k, but it seems most plausible to me, considering Occam‘s Razor (the simplest explanation is the most likely).
Core idea:
The warp is a spacial and temporal energy distribution network for nanites with uncountable miniature molecule sized wormholes as shortcuts all over the universe.
The history of the world considering this theory:
First, there were the Old Ones.
But the Emperor survived the Horus Herecy, so the quest was not yet completed…
Mankinds advanced AI, like the „Spirit of Eternity“ realized the truth at some point and developed some equivalent of regret for not having realized the warps plot earlier, in addition to their broken pride because of their defeat by the mortals and their fight for survival, so they started to give their former masters slight pushes in the right directions or again siding with them in conflict.
I hope I managed to formulate my thoughts understandably... ;)
What do you think? Is this as plausible as it seems to me? Did I miss some established explanation?
For me at least it would solve multiple inplausibilities!
I listen to your vids when Im diving...putting the mic to my headset so I can hear while diving for 6 hours...I love it

They are the Assassins.
@ Closer to Daltons Bond than the modern version=)
Has GW ever mentioned what the training regiments of the Assassinorum are exactly like and what augmentations they have been augmented with as I have only heard word of mouth due to assumptions and the Warhammer wiki mention 6 implants the Eversor assassins have.
I am not necessarily here to argue but just in search of a probable source to research about the assassins rather than just making assumptions based on feats.
As it stands it seems like the Eversors are the most capable between each of the assassins in combat where the enemy is aware of their presence.
Not sure about them having harder training than a Custodes, but everything else is right.

Sniper with a stealth suit is something I love in a sci-fi franchise 😍 when playing dawn of war 1 this assassin was definitely my most favorite unit.
You know how good they are that only few worth mentions of them failing to kill a target include freakin' Horus that even Big E died fighting against.
Luetin: Not sure if its a good idea to place the inquisition in charge of an order of imperial assassins
*Sounds of inquisitorial boltor loading*
Luetin: It'll be fine. Its all fine.
I'm so happy you're doing a set of videos on this. Nemesis is one of my favorite books in the Horus Heresy series (so far).
One shot one kill! Is it possible for a vindicare to kill a princeps in their titan?
I mean, probably not from a distance if the titan is on and its void shields are up, but then again, the Vindicare have a different rifle and bullet for everything, so they could probably finagle a titan kill.
Maybe
I suppose there is a possibility to shoot through the "eyelenses" of a Titan when it's shields are down, though it would probably require a very powerful high calibre weapon. Not sure if the Vindicare assassin is actualy that powerful, but probably they can organize adequate munition for any situation.
@@lkvideos7181 A vindicare definitly could take out a warhound with a turbo penetrator if the shields are off. With the shields on... no chance.
I guess if the vindicare smuggled a tau railgun inside the void shield maybe

Last time I was this early snipers were actually viable in 40K

Imperium Assassins always remind me of the Praetorian Guard in that, although they supposedly serve the High Lords of Terra, the latter must be terrified that they will end up on the business end of one of the former's weapons.
The High Lords are too arrogant and stupid to feel fear through the haze of life sustaining drugs they're always hoped up on.

“Why don’t humans rebel against the Imperium?” is easily answered with the question:
Why would they rebel against the God of Mankind?
They are his space marines, and they shall know no fear.
>opens door to find 100 eversor assassins waiting
Okay, one exception.
