    Have heard or ‘some say’ that the Toyota Land Cruiser was possibly the best overall vehicle ever made. The Japanese people seem to care about attention to detail. Their engineers appear to build things to last. Looks very clean underneath but inevitably you’ve got a few things to sort out. Looking forward to seeing the next phase 👍

    • @brkbtjunkie

      They consistently go 500-600k miles if maintained properly; Toyota designed them with a 25 year service life.

    Just stumbled upon your channel, and you can count me among your subs! Last month I picked up a 199kmi 100 series (2006), and I’m now beginning the sorting out . Yesterday, I replaced the front axles etc, and now it’s time to get after the u-joints. Thanks for this! I will learn much from your experiences, and I’ve no doubt we will both have fantastic rigs when we’re done. Over the years I’ve had a 40, 62, 80, and 200 series. All were amazing, but the 80 was the best…so far. Cheers!

    • @billtang1739
      @billtang1739 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the 80s are the best. My brother's lx470 has too many options like backup dropdown mirror, hydrolic suspension... that frequently break.

    • @bearvonsteuben9675
      @bearvonsteuben9675 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@billtang1739 Oh, yes. Give me fewer gadgets, build it like a tank, then let me drive it for a few decades. The 100s were just crossing the line into silliness. The 80s had none of that. Akin to your brother’s LX, the owner of the local dealership wanted to sell me his ‘20 200. I spoke with the service manager…that fancy suspension had failed in its first year. No thanks!

    I inherited a 1998 Land Cruiser from my father. The odometer is more than 500,000 miles. The engine, transmission, or any of the basic parts have not been opened. I roamed my desert and stony country with all my might. Now, when I am on the highway, my car is always the oldest in the road, but what I say is that After 10 years, most of these cars will break down or be sold for scrap, and my Toyota Land Cruiser still roams the roads.

    The only problem with the 100 serious Land Cruiser is the rot underneath,they can look immaculate on the outside and inside,but check the underneath if your going to buy one

    Doug de Mouro got a "NEW" Range Rover. Everybody was like get rid of it. Check engine light. Then and that. He now owns a used Land Cruiser. I got limited 4runner cause it fits in the garage. Get ready to get your hands dirty. Fuel filters, cleaning throttle bodies, vacuum leaks but it feels great working on your truck. I got two 4runners.

  • @brkbtjunkie

    The seat memory, I thought they were broken in mine, you have to hold set and then press 1 or 2 with set button held down.
    Toyota builds these cruisers in one single factory in Japan. All they do is cruisers. They MRI every engine block for uniformity.

    • @vPerformance

    There are like four Land Cruiser.’s in all of the UK. It’s like the least popular SUV in the UK. Here in America the roads are bigger than a football field so it’s just considered an average size SUV. Congrats on buying the best car ever made. I know it’s hard to make categorical statements but indeed the land cruiser 100 and 200 are the two best vehicles of all time.

      It seems that we have lots of the V8 petrol in the 2nd hand market, but the diesels are harder to find. So either there weren't many sold in the first place, or people just aren't selling them! I certainly intend to keep this one forever

A OME lift kit new steels and tyres a 3" exhaust and various other upgrades, snorkel etc. This is my forever car as it's a genuine 83,000 miles and it's what I've always wanted. My gen 3 surf was amazing after being fettled and cash thrown at it. My mate runs that now and it's 25 years old, I think it'll do another 25 after the full refurb. Toyota all the way.👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Mate, this is such a valuable vid. It's so rare to get a rundown of 100 series in the UK and the sorts of wear and tear they get here (ie rust).
    Did you keep the hydraulic suspension or swap it? If I do take the plunge, I would rather spend the funds to keep the AHC going but seen mixed opinions if that's possible in the UK due to rust.

      @@vPerformance basically it was damage repaired on the rear quarter undeclared. Audi sold it to me with full warranty. Wheel bearing went. That got fixed eventually under warranty
      Then found the paint fading. Got it fixed twice as the messed it up the first time. Then it started to rust. I said the car had a 5 year corrosion warranty. Most Audi's do. They refused to honour it as it had been repaired to a non OEM standard. So I took them to motor ombudsman. Took about 9 months to get sorted and even then it was just hassle after hassle.
      Ended up selling the car as it just ruined it for me
