Love your videos, I always carry my bounty hunter tracker I I in the back of my truck so I can use it for my outdoor plumbing work to find buried pipes and lost tools, After work I use it at the beach parking lot in central California while standing around with friends, I found $12 in nickels, dimes and quarters in less than an hour in the sand between the parking lot and the beach. This beach has an inlet where they used to repair Spanish explorer ships 100s of years ago, They found several Spanish ship cannons 30 years ago. I went out on the beach and found very old fishing spear heads and several square shank nails that were giant like they could have been used in wooden ships, also a pair of very rusted scissors that looked like they were from the 1800's Also lemon snipping shears. I'm am going to get a real hi tech metal detector and all the equipment and go back out there now that i have spare time.
Gin, with my F75 I still get massive depths with the smallest of football coils. Ive skunked all kinds of trash can lid size coils people use. The only time I put on the 11 inch is in a fresh plow field, with high and low spots. With the smaller coils I can crank up my machine and go deep in soil. The thing here in East TN most targets stop at red clay, unless the famer has deep plowed. So most of civil war relics are 10 inches at the most. Plenty in range with my 6 football. Would be neat to hit a field with you and compare results with our F75's. Your always welcome here.
Gin you need one of those small hand-held battery powered jackhammer to break up that hard soil so you can shovel it out of the hole! You really worked for those targets!!
Gin Great video and really tough soil there! For that kind of dirt you need a really pointy shovel. Like one of the ones from Predator tools. Love your tenacity!! More clovers for luck on your next hunt Lady! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🏆🏆
I do the same thing. I always detect near the road. I have found civil war bullets doing that. I have detected in Virginia in Culpeper. You can use a VLF machine, just is more challenging. I did well enough I'm not buying a pulse induction machine. Great video 🤗
The 1863 indian head penny was awesome!! Real nice find in that hard soil. I was thinking you almost need a mattock or pick axe to break up the soil, but I don't metal detect. Great show Gin!!
I have still yet to find an Indian head penny here in North Idaho..! Nice find in tough soil. The 3 ringer is a cool pc of history too. The loop-iron you found does indeed appear to be hand forged. I'm a welder, and as such have used many forged ornamental iron pcs throughout my career. Although I'm not sure what exactly that particular pc may have been used for. Thanks for taking us along. !
Great Job Finding that IHP That was from the Time of the WAR OF NORTHERN AGGRESSION, That 3 Ringer was a Dropped Yankee Bullet, Confederate Bullet's only Have 2 Ring's or Round Ball, KEEP On Swinging and Digging HAPPY HUNTING LUCKY GIN 🍀
Coles Hill, Hansborough Ridge and everything north through Brandy Station to the river is very rough ground. I hunted there with Pulse Induction well over a decade ago and would never hunt with a vlf there. Congrats on sticking to it and getting some finds.
PS right where you are standing in the beginning of the clip is where a few Confederate buttons were dug at the very first Cole’s Hill hunt. Right before you came to the power lines was a nice little camp that produced a lot of rare picket bullets and a ton of bottles.
Congrats on the IHP; it has a nice patina on it. Curb strips and roadsides are great places to hunt. Ha, right now I have the opposite problem you have. The ground is so wet and soupy its like a day at a mud spa. 👍👌
That wrought iron eyelet looks like it’s a harness loop for an ox or horse drawn wagon. It would mount to the wagon tongue and the reigns would slide through it.
A heavy farming area obviously, some nice finds! I think my strategy would be to see how close I could get to farmers house..maybe ask special permission!
Hi 🙋LuckyGin🍀, nice hunt video. I love watching you get so excited in finding that old Indian head penny. Who knows it may have been in that same spot ever sense 1861. It was a 1 in a million shot in finding it ; thats why you are LUCKY GIN 🍀. You are so adorable whenever you get excited. Did you have a wonderful thanksgiving meal with your family? Thanks for taking us along from Tampa Bay Florida, USA. 💝👱⛾get some hot coffee as you relax after that hunt. Until next time HAPPY hunting. 💰💰
Hello my friend.👋 I do get so excited, especially when it’s a coin, because there are so many I haven’t found yet. I’m imagining this penny may have been dropped by one of the civil war troops encamped there.🙂 I had a great Thanksgiving and I hope you did too. 🤗💖🍀
@@LuckyGin thats a great thought about it being dropped by a civil war soldier..... Back then the value of a penny was so much greater than today's currency. It was alot of money. Maby an American Indian dropped it; if only money could talk 🗣. Good Luck out there LUCK GIN 🍀🤗⚘
Wonderful video. I’m wondering if in one video you could show us one of those larger, pulse detectors and share the differences. Also, have you set a goal of hunting in all 50 states? That would be a real lifetime goal. I have set a goal of golf in all 50 states, and have the rest of my life to reach it. I’m sorry the soil in my Virginia is so hard, but you are a very determined, strong individual who doesn’t let adversity stop you. This hunt seemed to be a logic puzzle placed on top of a treasure hunt, and you solved it with the Indian head coin find. Congratulations young lady, keep digging!
Great video Gin. I was so excited when you told me about the coin. You did great under those power lines. I couldn't get anywhere near them. DIV is so much fun and I am really glad you got to experience it. I can't wait to go back.
I’ve never been to a show infact I’ve only detected with about ten people over the past 12 years But in fields I run a 15 inch coil and in beech mode if it’s had fertilizers put on it not sure if that’s right or not but it’s what I do. Your mystery item looks like part of a single tree for farming with horses
Hi Gin. I respect your tenacity. Here is food for thought: Since you spend so much time metal detecting, have you considered upgrading your machine? I use an XP Deus II, which offers numerous features to notch out hot rocks, mineralized soil, etc. It's expensive ($1600), has a steep learning curve, but offers more discrimination than other machines. It is considered by some, including me, to be the most advanced handheld metal detector available. It's also one of the lightest, which results in less fatigue. That means less digging and more precious finds. Happy metal detecting 😀
Great stuff Gin !!! Thank you for sharing your journey !!!! I have lived in southwestern Virginia for 71 years . Most of our soil is clay based. I guess you are use to the sandier soils!! Also we have very friendly folks living hear !! After all "Virginia is for lovers" !!! Please stay safe and God bless you !!! Eddy
Great finds Gin! I’ve had problems with the soil like you were having with the mineralization before and it’s hard to find targets. Here in Texas, the ground is hard digging most of the time because it’s so dry! I like the Indian Head for sure! I’ve hunted a long time and found a lot of rings and cool stuff, but never an Indian. That’s still on the list! Great video and great finds! Keep up the good work!
Happy (post) Thanksgiving! Tk u for sharing ur adventures w/ us! That Indian head penny find was awesome!! Having never detected, tk u for explaining the soil mineralization situation.
Nice job Gin!! Virginia can be tough, we dig in the cold harbor area where the soil is a little more forgiving. However, to find a civil war era coin on a campsite is a hard thing to do for sure!!!!!
Wow lass that was hard work for you But who said metal detecting was easy. Great video and thank you for sharing, kind regards Ian and Connor Green in chilly old yorkshire England.....
Coles Hill was a tough place to dig. You should be happy with two of your three finds you made. The bullet is a 58 cal miniball or 3 ringer so it is a Civil War relic. The 1863 Indian Head cent is also definitely from the Civil War period. Good to see you made a plan and stuck to it. Well done.
