    Gin
    Excellent video Lady! Yes, you need to change gears every now and then to empty your mind and get some much needed R+R. The Stowe are of Vermont is my skiing playground in the Winter as I am a full cert ski instructor and staff trainer there. I enjoy riding my motorcycles there and all over New England to empty my mind of everyday life. All of the places you mentioned are beautiful and must see if you are in the area!
    Peace Gin and many lucky shamrocks for you to keep for luck Lady!

    Carpe diem! When you get older like me, the days pass faster and faster. It is then very beneficial to take a good look around you and enjoy what nature has to offer us for free! Many people ignore this and pursue material things without ever being satisfied. Thank you for summarizing this so beautifully in your video! 🌷

    I enjoyed your travel Video. I was raised near Albany, NY and my family had a cabin in North Hero, VT. We visited the Trapp Lodge in 1966 but did not stay long. A place you might find interesting is the Shelburne Museum. Travel safely.

    Thank you for the video, I am 6th generation Vermonter. My family owned the land in Ripton where the Robert Frost walkway is back in the 1800's. There is a sign with the original homestead still there to this day. Frost's cabin is on the farm just up the hill from the original farm house, my ancestors are buried in the cemetery next to the Frost walkway. I live 6 miles from the homestead now. I ride my Harley around Vermont every year enjoying all the natural beauty nature has to offer.

    Really enjoyed this vlog Gin! Thank you for taking the time to make it and for sharing it with all of us. You're SO right when you talk about taking the time to "be in the moment" when you have a chance to get out and see something new and perhaps only once in your lifetime! In fact, I did a two week trip in October to the South Dakota Black Hills/Custer area. Talk about beautiful autumn colors!! I made my way north to Deadwood (woke to a snow squall one morning which I loved!) and eventually over to Wyoming to Devil's Tower to Bighorn National Forest, then south to Colorado. This was a first time for me to see this area in my life. Not only did I drive around, I hiked, biked, rented a four wheeler for a day for trail riding and did some mountain lake fishing (caught some of the nicest rainbow trout of my life!) but I made so many cherishable memories because I put the focus on my journey, rather than the destination. It looks like I need to put Vermont on my "list" of places to visit. I DO hope you got to do some MDing while there!🙂

    I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to our lovely little state! Just FYI, the Robert Frost Trail is west of the Green Mountains, not in them. It's technically in the Taconic range. (And in spite of the signs, moose are far more common in the northeastern part of the state.)

    Thank you so much for taking us along! The trail, the lodge, the chapel are all amazing! Yes! I strongly agree that being at one with nature is absolutely soul cleansing! I get it! You shared "The Road Less Traveled" with us and it is indeed a great read! Here's another which I think you'll appreciate:
    TREES
    I think that I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a tree.
    A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
    Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
    A tree that looks at God all day,
    And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
    A tree that may in summer wear
    A nest of robins in her hair;
    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who intimately lives with rain.
    Poems are made by fools like me,
    But only God can make a tree.
    Joyce Kilmer

    It's been a pleasure to step outside of metal detecting with you. All work and no play and R&R can make for exhaustion of both mind and body. Things can 'go stale'.. Sometimes I've likened it to head-butting an oak tree: lovely when you stop. Only the very dull can fail to notice your commitment to the hobby, as well as the un-selfish ways you bring us with you. Enjoy it, the finds will still be resting where they fell. That's it Gin.

    Hi Gin. I’m so glad you were able to visit Vermont after treasure hunting across the lake in NY. This video gave us a glimpse into your ‘softer’ side. I really enjoyed that. I’ve heard so many nice things about the Von Trapp Family lodge and have always wanted to go and it’s only a couple hours away. I will take your advice and make the trip next year! I’m thrilled you got to Vermont! I spent quite a bit of time there hiking and camping over the years. It’s my favorite place. I agree, being outside in nature is where we are suppose to be, not in an office or factory under fluorescent lights. I hope you fell in love with this beautiful state and plan to return, so much more to see. If you have time, check out New Hampshire as well. Another beautiful state right next door. Thank you for sharing your video Gin, I haven’t been up north in quite some time so it did me good just see this video. I love your channel and hope you will return to New England soon (Spring, Summer or Fall; not winter 😊) god bless.

    So much history in that area! My dad's side of the family is from the Albany area (Waterford - oldest incorporated village in the US). Too bad you didn't have a chance to visit Ft. Ticonderoga and Ft. William Henry (southern end of Lake George). I'm envious that you got to stay at the Von Trapp Lodge. I just visited the gift shop and got a souvenir sweatshirt. Thank you; I appreciate you popping by my video. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I’ll be looking forward to visiting again. Driving through, I saw so many old abandoned buildings that I would love to have metal detected around. Looks like there’s some amazing history there.🙂🍀

    Fitting poem, Gin, written/published a century plus 7 years ago....
    "...Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. ....".
    ....Doesn't it summarize your (recent) life, Gin ? Previous careers/work was a bit "stoic", perhaps "confined"... Now...you've chosen the freedoms the outdoors and adventure offer a soul. Maybe I read bit too much into it,.... but I don't think so. I've LIVED that "outdoor freedom, and adventure", also. 'Would NEVER go back to the 9-to-5 behind a desk.
    Great adventure, great vid, always fun watching. All 5he best, Gin, from Florida....

      You are 100% spot on my friend. I feel like I’ve lived more in the past year than my entire life. I’ve not completely escaped the desk (cage) yet, but making progress for sure. Funny things start to happen when you are no longer willing to trade freedom for money. I’m sure people assume I’m having a mid-life crisis, but the truth is, I woke up one day and decided to really live…..to not live a life of quiet desperation and go to the grave with my music still in me.

    I live in Waterbury VT, thanks for making me thankful for my home. Love to backcountry ski at the Von Trapps. I also love traveling, this spring my wife and I drove out to Utah. Totally agree with trying to live in the moment. I may never see those places again. What I love is the dream of my next adventure, love exploring our great nation. Hope you liked Vermont. Oh ya this past Halloween was the nicest weather we have had in years for that holiday.

I’m sure there’s so much more to see there - you have a lovely home state.🙂 I know just what you mean about the thrill of planning the next adventure. I spend much of the cold winter months planning and researching; gives you something to look forward to.🤩🍀

    It great to "step away" from our computer screens, our phones and just
    switch off. Explore our local parts of our own community's either by a
    simple bush walk or just putting around home doing the gardening.
    There is more to life than work and electronics. Life is to short.

    Never knew Vermont looked so Europe-y. Seriously, minus the big lodges it could easily have been filmed in Norway or Sweden. And wise words about nature and the effect it has on us simple beings, I´m not sure we were meant to stray this far into civilization and technology. (And look at me, an idiot sitting watching a scenic nature clip on YT.. =) )

    • @LuckyGin

      I often marvel at how removed most people are from nature. I doubt most could survive if they found themselves unexpectedly alone in the wild. Yet I am more comfortable alone in the wild than in a room full of people. I like to share the experiences here on TH-cam though because I know there are many who can’t go on these types of adventures due to health issues. Don’t feel bad for watching - you are just getting ideas for when you have a chance to go.😃🍀

    Good to take a break from the grind....been there...done that for sure but pretty sure I saw Samuel Champlain holding a metal detector in that first shot. Enjoyed the tour. And agree with you about the Matrix. The world continually tries to pull our attention from God and His creation and sadly, many times, is successful.

    Some may say this wasn't a treasure hunting video but I disagree! Gold, silver and objects from the past that are found are treasure but the real treasure is enjoying our beautiful country and world and in my opinion if you don't understand that to miss the point of life. We spend way to much time in the matrix as you call it and not enough time in nature. My favorite times of year is spring and fall but one thing about winter is when all the leaves are off the trees and undergrowth you can walk trails you walk the other three seasons and see thing you had no idea was there so don't count out winter for those long decompressing walks. I'm not as much into cold weather either but it's worth the discomfort. Besides you will never fully enjoy beautiful weather if you don't experience the less than optimal conditions. Thanks for the ride along Gin!

    • @LuckyGin
      @LuckyGin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very true what you say about experiencing the less than optimal to appreciate the exceptional. The. Yin and Yang of life; you need them both to fully appreciate either. I do enjoy winter walks in the freshly fallen snow, or when the waterfalls have frozen. I think we very much agree on the point of life and where the real treasures lie.🙂
