@ThePrint I have not seen the full video yet. I will definitely see. What I'm amazed at , is that finally a news media in India is realising that doesn't matter , how much viewership , you get, it should have a well educated representative to showcase the absolute current researches and studies to it's audience. After all, the next generation of India shouldn't grow seeing news on shitty politics and useless politicians (across all political parties) and trashy moviestars and their sickening dull movies. They should grow up seeing well researched topics on science, arts, literature, technology. Which brings me to the question, is there similar endeavour being done on arts, literature? How about making a series , similar to BBC Click? @ThePrint
So basically mystery was solved by "Ridge jumps". It is a very nice explanation and I'm proud to say that two of my professor are involved in this research. And I myself have worked in NIO, Goa as an intern.
Good journalism at its best. From providing non partisan views on issues to leaving us the viewers to calibrate our own opinion about the same issues. Providing us with such variegated topics to ponder upon and drive conclusions, this is what every dutiful and responsible citizen of India should seek from Journalism.
Amazing ! What a wonderful presentation. I'm no geologist or earth scientist, but the manner in which it was simplified and presented was amazing. I have subscribed and have shared with many like minded friends. Finally, I could find something sensible on TH-cam. Wonderful job. I'm looking forward to listening to Ms.SR !
🙏🙂🙂🙂I belongs to near bay of Bengal it's always being interested for me to know about these all regions ...like the Himalaya, the mangroves, Tista flow its stunning view..The Begal Tiger 😍

H Hi Neal! Thank you for appreciating our content. We understand that we are catering to a smart, well-read audience and our endeavour is to provide holistic news. We have lots of content on our website ThePrint.in on the arts. Do check out the Features section especially & give us your feedback!
@@ThePrintIndia hi print @purescience, I was wondering whether you can cover the recent discovery of potential superconductivity at room temperature, high presssure by Ranga Diaz et al? Thank you.
Dear Sandhya, can you pls do an episode on global warming and climate change...just wanted to know if we still have time to fix this or its too late now?...and as always great content..
I studied science and retain a very strong interest in its progress over the decades. This presentation is befitting of a scientist, not a journalist. The role of a science writer is to simplify for the understanding of ordinary masses without losing the core character of what is being said. Finally it left the one question unanswered; so what? Why should anyone know ?
The content that your providing is very upto date and would only reach school classrooms only in the distant future...But, now your able to stimulate thought & academic adventure in young minds all over the m world today itself... Thank you very much‼️
Wow... I understood only 10% of this whole session.. I remember studying of Gondwanaland, Eurasian plate Laurasian plate and Tethis sea in school geography lecture. Now is time to revise or maybe relearn . 🙄
For a moment it made me felt like I'm back to my classes again. Besides, crust passing through plume, activating volcanic activity and shifting spreading region in north and north western region, this conclusion is best supported with radiological study of igneous rocks. If plume did cause a spreading region (which it did cause bay of Bengal) it should also be present in igneous rock signatures.
It will help me in my research. Very informative topic I can't believe a news 📰 anchor can put light 🚦 on geological research. You must be a master in geology and I am not wrong.
I think there needs to be a coordinated effort between Indian & Australian geologists & then working (together) in Antarctica sites including Kerguelen I.
Plumes here means the conventional cells of pyrosphere. Exact location of the oceanic rift zone has not been mentioned. The formation of Narmada-Son-Mahanadi has not been simultaneously discussed. Please answer to complete the concept.
Sandhya should explore sunken dwaraka , sunken mahabalipuram , she will find tons of gold and diamonds apart from space age metals , she has to go for investigative methods , 100's kms of tunnels connecting temples in nallamalla forests, bases in Himalaya, mystic nallamalla forests etc ...finance can be arranged
Wonderful report, great scientific journalism by Sandhya something completely missing from Indian journalism. One small suggestion with my knowledge scientific communication with a larger audience kindly use more animations. Animations connect easily with people's mind otherwise becomes more like a lecture which only few would listen carefully.
Fascinating! Curious though... such symmetry breaking must not be present only in the Bay of Bengal, Isn't? Does this new theory or simulation explain similar features elsewhere or even better predict such symmetry breaking somewhere else? If not, it can be just another theory...
Why are these animations are so low res? I mean I am genuinely curious as it is so easy to make high res animations today for free on your laptop using free software like Blender or even just plain old Python.
Does it mean, India and Bangladesh are getting 3cm smaller every year? If the new theory of plume is correct, the northern parts of India are getting new hight every year and the Bay of Bengal is getting deeper every year. That's why every 120 to 130 years later, the earthquakes are happening to make the Indian plate inner move to the northern plate. It's a piece of shocking news. But, the most important is that the southern side of India will move 300km along inside of Bay of Bengal by stinking it after within 10M years.
After watching the video twice, trying my best to understand all I understood that I wasted 25 mins of my life😔😔, reading my geography book(fundamentals of physical geography) is like reading nothing, cause I read everything and nothing go into my head, all those terms, plumes, plate tectonics, ridges, abyssal plains,, all I am trying to mug up😔😔😔😫😫

The collision event of the Indian plate with Asian should also be considered which could be another reason for the differences between the two basins.
