Boy I hope that was a good surprise. Working with voice acting is new for me but I think it adds a lot more to it.
I got a lot of cool plans, I think I'll do 2 more of these "short" animations before we start with full-lenght episodes for the prequel.

After seeing Gaster's relationship with Roman, his speech to Papyrus about him not having to be the strongest fighter and appreciating his kindness hits way harder

Not to mention his constant pushing Papyrus to stay out of the fight altogether, trying to protect him from the harsh things in the world. Much like his father, he knows that Papyrus can't truly stand up to what goes bump in the night. But instead of trying to push his younger son to become a warrior, Gaster accepts that son's nature and does his best to keep Papyrus as who he is.

Everyone's talking about how the Papyrus scene hits harder with this, but I feel like this also hammered in how badly Gaster took Sans' death. Especially since he witnessed it firsthand.
8:52 really can be interpreted as foreshadowing, but also as a flashback scene in that one moment Sans turned back one last time as he was melting, which would fit perfectly since he snaps right after, just like in this scene.

This feels like a full blown TV show. Honestly, Glitchtale is probably one of the most incredible things I've watched on this platform. I really don't know how to express how much I admire this series.

I love how this in a way explains why despite the fact Gaster is canonically probably the strongest character in Glitchtale he refuses to ever unleash that power unless pushed beyond the point of rational thought. I feel this gives so much more power to the scene between Gaster and Papyrus where he explains how proud he is of Papyrus for NOT being a fighter but rather finding other ways to solve problems.
Such an amazing animation and a brilliant build up to season three!
He seems he needs to lose himself in a way in order to unlock his destructive potential.

I love the parallels in Roman and Gaster's fight with season 2
Roman orders Gaster not to move while he attacks him, that's exactly what Gaster does 1000 years later in his fight with Betty in Animosity: he doesn't move a single bone.
I'm sure this series will be pure gold.

Very well done background for Gaster's character! There is so much parallel in that father, son training session to Gaster's final fight with Betty. Gaster lost someone close to him, viewing it as his fault, just like his father said would happen one day. This causes Gaster to fight the way his father wanted him to against Betty, (he never moves or even closes his eyes) (he even says "Is that all...") before his eyes turn from the red of his father, to his own signature purple, before going ham with the attack his father always knew he had. All this would have broken him though were it not for Papyrus (who personifies what's okay with not being a fighter). All in all the character motivation built in this origin is really well done and fits beautifully with what is done later in the timeline. As always Camila has done a fantastic job, I can't wait for more!
I love how Gaster's Father is named Roman, like Times New Roman. It's cold, rigid, and neat. I would know, I have written so many papers in that font.

8:46 this scene just gives me so much flashbacks of the gaster killing betty. Not only did he do it the way his father wanted to, but also because he lost someone he cared about, like his father said he would. Even the dialogues and the soundtrack are somehow similar

Gaster’s father has so many parallels to the fight with Betty. The fact the gaster was too weak to save sans from melting, too weak to have helped sans, how he looks down at the ground, how he activates polychromatism due to heavy emotional damage (sans’s second death, he did spend time bringing back his son and his father berating him for being weak, as for now it seems he just wants to be loved). This whole thing is amazing in every way. I can’t wait for more episodes and references.

This doesn’t even feel like Glitchtale anymore, that’s how good this is. Full voice acting, animated masterfully, and an interesting backstory for an interesting characters.

Especially since Cami dropped the Undertale text for full voice acting. unless she finds an audio filter for Gaster speaking in Wingdings which really is what made him a more "interesting" monster. But hey, it's Cami's AU and Animated series so she's the producer and calls the shots of the series.
9:20 something small, but I like the way the tears and blood mix in this scene. Like Gaster's true kind self mixing with the brutal monster Roman wants him to be for just a moment, creating what happens next

I can see Romans personality in Gaster's, but he still manages to care for his two sons and do what ever he can do help his fallen one. This is the gaster I know and love. And as a scientist he does every damn thing to help even all of monster kind, become redeemable after the void and still being a loving father no matter what. This is why I love gaster as my favorite character

As cruel as he can be, Roman is somewhat right. If a situation arises that requires Gaster to be more powerful, he doesn't have the practice necessary to be able to save everyone. I'm theorizing that Roman will die at some point in the human monster war, and his death will be the cause of Gaster's shift in power.
While his ways of teaching Gaster seem cruel, this kind of thing is what builds his character in S2. It's what makes him powerful enough to finish Betty, after all.
Hate him or not, Roman is somewhat right in the end.
(Also animation was absolutely stunning. Can't wait for the rest!)

it's almost as if roman *knows* the war is going to happen, and is preparing gaster for that. maybe there could be some merit to that, since in general conflict usually goes on for years before it turns into a full blown war, so maybe there was already political tensions pulling towards the start of a war, and roman noticed that?
I like the fact so much that in fact the magic of Gaster and Roman are similar, but still somehow different. That is, Roman's fingers are painted in the color of the magic he uses. Genetics, on the other hand, changed it a little, but still left the magic the same. Camila is just a genius, that's great.

I agree. And that's why he seems have to heart to see his son get hurt. Maybe he felt guilty for not raising his son better and that's why Roman ask him to not invite him again. That's truly emotional 😢

i absolutely love how this series is still connecting to the source material being undertale, but it's completely rewriting it into something so much more detailed and investing. we started from a little music video that had an error on how the universe works and now we're here over 6 years later with something worthy of it's own crunchyroll series

Hearing the Glitchtale characters fully voice-acted is quite a strange yet awesome upgrade.
It fills you with DETERMINATION.
Roman is a hardened veteran,he's won countless victories for monster kind and has seen countless soldiers die by his orders,he senses the war between the humans and monsters coming and he's trying to prepare his son for it,he feels as though Gaster will be unable to harden his soul for the impending bloodshed

That, was an emotional rollercoaster, the voice acting was phenomenal and added so much more to the impact of the characters thoughts and feelings. And the animation was flawless as usual, same goes with the story and sound design. Thank you glitchtale team for this amazing animation!

Roman is so abusive, but his training seemingly worked against Betty. I’m interested in seeing what caused Gaster to develop himself as a warrior, or perhaps he snapped and his instinct drew him to his father’s training.
Perhaps it was the war between monsters and humans, or the aftermath of the war
Well he was already shown to be a way more capable fighter before beating the ever living shit out of betty. So something must have happened in between there.
God the writing in this series manages to make me cry every damn time, present gaster is something that roman would never be, gaster is strong both emotionally and physically, he can fight, protect and recognize that being loving is not weak, but rather strong
The animation quality(including sound design, voice acting and music) has reached a point where you could make a tv show out of it
as long as you dont split it from undertale it would be epic
Haven’t checked up on GT since the finale of season 2 and man. Gaster is so well written it’s ridiculous, his father strives to make him a the strongest fighter he could be while in the end he was strong it wasn’t his desire to be a fighter like his father. The animation improvement is insane and the voice acting is on point ( i really liked Roman's voice ). The combination of everything makes this the perfect start to season 3.
As horrendous as Gaster’s father is, we all sometimes need a moment in life where we need a reality check. I’m not saying his way of parenting is right, hell it’s really wrong but without understanding what that harsh reality is early on figuring it out too late will have really bad consequences.
Thank you I needed some more advice like that in my life pretty much the weight gasters dad was my mom was and like Esther he never had a parent had them both parents know that I but I I'm just like yesterday I hate fighting I don't want to hurt anyone but sometimes with how cool and effed up this plate this world is sometimes you have to be the fighter in order to survive but you're right his parenting was not okay you gave me some encouragement today

Exactly, I actually think Roman is a really good person. He can be a little harsh, but he taught gaster the right thing, you need to become stronger in order to protect your friends, you need a reality check every now and then. That's how life works.
this makes gaster's fight with betty so much more interesting and so much more tragic. betty forced him to become the monster his dad wanted him to be; the monster he was scared of.

Super hyped for this, Gaster has been such a mysterious character through most of the series... so this'll be enlightening
Fully voice acted. I wasn't sure if it was going to fit but, what came of it was a whole new level I didn't think was needed but is now greatly appreciated. The animation is as always wonderfully smooth, the expressions were nicely accentuated which was emphasized by the actors words/tones. And of course nyx offering us a wonderful chorus, now to watch another great story unfold.

Whoever came up with this line is an absolute genius and deserves an award, the double meaning perfectly reflects the two interpretations we are given of Roman and his ambitions for Gaster: both the honorable soldier who wants his son to protect those who cannot protect themselves and the ruthless fighter (killer?) who believes that only complete annihilation of your opponents guarantees a victory.

keep in mind they are a race called the monsters. he probably means become the man i know you can be or the warrior i know you can be but in monster terms. gotta remember that in undertale the word monster has a different meaning.
@@DarkXream That’s what I meant by saying the line has a double meaning, if used in the context of “monster” being the same as “man” it would link to Roman’s intention to have Gaster become strong to protect the weak, whereas if it followed the meaning of “monster” the way it’s generally used, it lines up more with the idea that Roman wants Gaster to show no mercy to anyone, hence him being a ruthless fighter.
@@DarkXream The thing is, Roman also uses "monster" in contexts where it isn't necessarily synonymous with "man", like the line "Until you learn to confront the monster inside yourself, my son, you will never be a warrior.", it wouldn't make sense if you replace "monster" with "man".
If awards were given away so easily they'd lose even more meaning. Besides, it's not exactly original

This series... Has gotten to me many times. Seeing Gaster and Roman's relationship is just sad. many people have pointed out the details from Papyrus and Gaster's conversation, but I found another one. I saw that, with the knowledge that home life from childhood can affect a person's personality in the future, that it holds up in this. Gaster mentions that he was never a good father. This is a nice little detail because on Roman wasnt a very good father. Just wanted to point that out

I think that Gaster is too soft which is why his father is like this. He's too emotional, the absolute reverse of what Gaster needs to be as a warrior. He wants Gaster to understand that if you can't fight with all your might, you'll die in the battlefield. Gaster has a bad habit of holding back, unless it's someone he truly hates, Roman wants to change that. Gaster needs to toughen up if he wants to survive in the council, where death haunts all members.
This is so unrecognizable from undertale, this feels like a completely separate thing from it. And I love it!

Roman may be cruel, but he just doesn't want Gaster to die nor experience losing the ones he cares about because he couldn't save them, like Roman did.
Being a father is hard. And all he wants his for his son not to go through the loss of his companions. It mate seem cruel but as Roman said, the world Is cruel. Gaster needs to realize that Roman is not teaching him to be cruel. But to be more powerful to save his friends. Also amazing job. I love how you introduced voice acting into all of this. Absolutely terrific.

This series is really a masterpiece. There is very very few people in the project and yet, it has gone so far. It started with some little fight between sans and frisk (very epic btw) and it has became a literal anime with its own plot and comunity and all the stuff. Its just inredible and i really think that its very beautiful to see how a whole new universe from undertale and a whole new comunity is created in such a magnificient way. For real, thank you Camila and company.

This was phenomenal, the voice acting really turning this into an anime at this point. Your work is always hella good, I'm excited for the next part of the prequel series
I've been watching Glitchtale since megalomaniac and boy how far has it gone, full on voice acting and animation I can see why it took rather long and I'm glad I stuck around long enough to witness it's major improvement
Things I noticed with amazing details:
1. The relationship with Roman and Gastor reflecting with papyrus and when gastor said “your not a fighter I’m proud”
2. Not moving or blinking when killing Betty
3. Details of when he yelled and the giant gastor blaster and hands came out like this one after sans died
4. The tree somewhat represents papyrus when gastor was protecting him
5. He realized what his father was true after sans died and didn’t hold back
(The art has gone so far and improved so much! And there’s so many callbacks and details)
Tough love. His father wants what he believes to be best for his son, and while he can't "know" what is best he does know what will keep him safe enough in the long run. And hey, he wasn't wrong. That stuff saved his life.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how fucking amazing Roman's voice is?
Regardless, I'm really happy to have been proven wrong. Voice acting works wonders here, and I can't wait to see more.

I love the unique backstory to Gaster, it makes sense why he comes off so cold, especially in early Season 2. I just feel really sorry for him😔💔
The amount of foreshadowing in that one sparring scene alone from parallels with his beat down of Betty to the crack on his blaster mirroring his future scars, Amazing work Cami!
Ironically, since we're in the prequels, Roman needs to get with the New Times, where Gaster doesn't have to be a warrior. I am so excited for this series; we're going to see all the wizards of the council working together, and we're going to see the villains come together too! This is so cool!

The thing is, Gaster is a part of the council, someone who protects the weak and demolish the strong who dare disturbs the peace of monsters and humans. If he can't find it in himself to fight his father seriously, then he'll become soft. Easy to manipulate.
Had no clue Camilla made an origin storyline, that’s fully voiced and animated and I’m so mad I’m just now finding it through TH-cam’s goofy ass recommendations system
The Art and animation has gotten so much better, and the story is amazingly well written, huge props to you once again camila, the voice acting are really well done, phenomenal job once again camila!
The animation is great as usual, but the voice acting... DAMN MAN, THAT'S AMAZING! It's kinda hard for me to understand, but still great.

I like how Roman is a play on the font "Times New Roman", but instead of new, he's old. I like that.

It's lovely seeing details in this animation compliment Gaster in Glitchtale, like how his father instructed him not to move during their duel, and how it translated into Gaster not moving during his final stand against Bete
to see how far you've come is amazing, starting as a little animation for some kind of made up lyrics for a song in undertale to a whole new story and the animating style looks like something out of an anime, it's just simply beautiful.
i couldn't be more proud of you and everyone involved and what this entire series has become Camila, you always exceed my expectations, this even more so with voice over work, which honestly caught me off guard.

Glitchtale has become an entire different thing, like an anime. It feels different than Undertale and any other universe and it’s so amazing. The scripts, the designs, the backstory etc are all remarkable. 101/10 series for sure.
