  • I installed the myantennas.com 8010P on my roof. It seems to work very well. Here are a few contacts using CW with Morse code and LSB on 40m. UPDATE: Members of the VMARS net (3615USB) tonight told me they had never heard me so well before, thumbs up for the 8010P! You got away from all the metal with that basketball hoop frame, SWR improved.

    Thanks very much for these videos! The LW antenna performs very well. I would like to think that it could also do well in, for example, a SOTA situation, as long as you could get it up to a tree, etc. I say that because it seems relatively easy to deploy.

      +thormusique Probably but the case is too big. We really need a QRP version...

    I have the 200w version, as you see it works very well!

    Good altitude. 30m might be a result of odd harmonics

    I was wondering about the antenna analyzer during part one. The numbers look more realistic on this try.

    I wish I had room for 130 ft antenna. It would be nice to have all those bands without switching antennas all the time.

    Hello and thanks for the videos. I have a 4010 that I converted to 8010 by lengthening the wire. I made it excessively long and trimmed it back until I got optimal SWR at 14275. The transformer end is currently 5 ft up with the end about 20ft off the ground. I'm using a 4m counterpoise strung along under the driven element. My SWRs are excellent everywhere except 80m. I'm wondering how long of a coax you are using? I have about 6ft but this is only for outdoor use.

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, usually 25 to 33ft.

    • @ericschleppegrell4467
      @ericschleppegrell4467 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you do any trimming to get the SWR so sweet on ALL bands?

    I have an MFJ 10-40 end fed wire. I am wanting to get an end fed that will go to 80 using it as an inverted V to be able to fit my property with a decent swr,. Do you recommend the Myantenna 80-10?

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, yes, it has worked very well for me. You can however build a 49:1 transformer yourself for a fraction of the cost. See my video on it.

    • @bobarry1
      @bobarry1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the MFJ has a 49:1 unun you can simply add wire to it! But a sliding insulator midpoint high up and bring ends down to make an inverted V or sloping in my case. W4GHV

    Thanks for the video. I have been watching many videos about end fed antennas with 49:1 transformers. I want to operate on multiple bands but I really don't have any use for 80 meters. Is there a reference of antenna lengths for each band. I know the longest (135 feet) will do 80m and below but again, I don't care about 80m and would like to operate with a shorter antenna for 40, 20, 17, 15 and 10. Is there a chart for antenna lengths? I also want to operate portable without a tuner. Thanks in advance. -- 73/KG7VCL

      Use 468/F. F in Mhz, result in feet.

    • @WASRT001
      @WASRT001 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RadioPrepper Yes, thank you. I did calculate center of 40m phone band 7.240mhz equals 64.64 feet. So, with the 49:1 transformer, will it work on other bands (30, 20, 15 or 10)? I guess the was the jest of my inquiry. Thanks again, your videos are awesome. 73/KG7VCL

      Ah pardon, je n'étais pas sûr comme je ne suis pas habitué à écouter le trafic HF et encore moins en morse, je suis en train de travailler pour passer le certificat. Vous avez passé une licence aux USA ? J'ai lu qu'il y avait 3 niveaux, (technician general et expert si je me souviens bien). Vous avez du repasser l'examen ou existe t-il une convention d'équivalence d'un ou plusieurs de ces niveaux avec le niveau HAREC ? Excusez moi si je vous bouscule avec ces questions répétées, c'est justement le genre de choses qu'on n'apprend pas dans les livres ou les clubs (je suis inscrit à celui de Neuilly qui fait des sessions sur YT, dans le Gard les clubs manquent). Ça fait longtemps que j'écoute mais les relais, et comme j'ai déménagé et que je loue actuellement, je voudrais rester discret et j'ai commandé une antenne long fil de 20 mètres chez Wimo, que j'espère pouvoir percher à 4-5 mètres de haut. Je devrais l'avoir dans quelques jours, en attendant je cherche toujours quoi faire pour le contrepoids ou la masse, le sol est très sec chez moi. Merci beaucoup pour votre gentillesse, j'apprécie vos vidéos.

      Zut, j'avais oublié ce passage de mon cours, la série F4Vxx est attribué aux résidents de l'union européenne et F4Wxx aux autres résidents venant s'installer en France, j'aurais donc du deviner. Merci à vous

    How does the 8010P compare to the Par End Fedz you reviewed so favorably?

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't really thought of those two as competing antennas. The 8010P is going to be installed horizontally, most likely. The PAR is probably going to end-up as a vertical. It's too early to tell, but the 8010P seems to perform better than the same length Windom I had up in the same location. For a house antenna, for anyone who has the space, the 8010P is great for 80m and does 30m as well. For portable operations or if not using 80m and 30m, I'd install the PAR vertically for DX. Time will tell...

      @glennnofsinger1658 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great, thanks for reply and description of performance. Have you had a chance to evaluate the Hyendfed EFHW from Holland? Would you expect the performance to be similar at the horizontal home deployment as your 8020P?

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Glenn Nofsinger I have never tested that one, so I can't comment. All I can say is that as far as antennas are concerned, size matters..

    Have the same antenna
    Pick up a two military poles at about 15 feet long. How will it work flat top as Nvis. As for emergency and about work anywhere. Have up now as a sloper 15 at one end and the other about 30 feet. What would be your input on this. Knowing the band are not on our side.
    Just trying to get the most out of this antenna. Using the EFHW-8010-1K.

      A horizontal antenna can work surprisingly well pretty low... I would not hesitate to try at 15ft. I have made contacts on 80m with a 134ft wire six feet off the ground.

      @@RadioPrepper Hello, Do you have room to string up an 80m full wave loop? Its all i use on all bands and it is at least 5 to 7 s units quieter than dipoles. Just a thought. Sounds like you are having fun and thats all that matters. Cheers.
