Very well explained. I read a lot on this subject and watched other videos; here you fill in lots of gaps as to the reason of how the impedance works.

I intend to rely heavily on EFHW antennas both vertical and horizontal for NVIS when portable.
    Your vids support my intentions.
BTW: Good music old chap! Also, in a previous vid, I noticed a few prop driven airoplane pics on the wall. Were you a pilot back in the day? My dad flew P40s/P51s/C47s in Burma/China/Formosa in 44/45/46.

Does wire gauge make a difference? Is a 14 gauge better than say a 20 gauge? I made the antenna with both. My 20 gauge i tuned with my MFJ tuner. I even made the coil for 80. No tuner needed. A great antenna to use portable. Thanks for sharing.

does hieght matter? will inverted v work?

    • @hollisfarmshoney
      @hollisfarmshoney 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Inverted V works great with an endfed. Mainly because the connection for the coax is lower and easier get the midpoint up and where you want it.

Height is might, with antennas, if you wish low angle radiation. I have experienced big differences between 6 and 10m meters up.

Hi , I have a 1:1 balun and I want to ask if when i will ad 20 meters of wire on ech side (dipol) will it work properly on 40m an 20m band ?

No Snake oil at all, the antennas from Myantennas are made by Danny a former employee at Cushcraft antenna engineer.
The Unun is a 48:1 and requires no radials unlike an end few with 9:1, an earth connected to the transformer box is recommended.
No RF int he shack either, these antennas got great reviews on the my antenna site and on Eham.
Depending on the installation they perform better then a full size G5RV probably ( and I'm no antenna expert ) because they are resonant on multiple bands requiring no tuner unlike a G5RV that needs a tuner, a lot of People think the tuner somehow tunes the antenna it doesn't, it only matches the antenna at the radio end while the antenna itself is still non resonant but allows the radio put out full power.
The myantennas antenna needs no tuner because it's resonant on the bands advertised, depending on installation a tuner might be required for the lowest swr on some bands, but it's a very efficient antenna.
I have one of these antennas half installed, I am working on my license and hope to pass the exam in May. I will finish the installation in a few days hopefully and be ready for when I get the license and if I don't get it in May I'll use it for receive until I pass the next exam. I will be using a very old basic radio to begin with and the my antennas antenna will save me the expense of a tuner until I get more experience and funds and I can later on experiment with my own antenna builds.
These multiband antennas are also good for portable use, QRP etc as they require no tuner.
Tests have shown that the myantennas antenna is indeed resonant on the bands shown and it's good to see Waters & Stanton stock them, they should be the first choice for anyone looking to buy a wire antenna.
It will also work 160 meters with a tuner but at reduced power to prevent the transformer from getting too hot but not be very efficient , they also make one for 160 meters @ about 240 feet long.
They can't make the antennas fast enough they are selling so well !
Hyendfed antennas also sell multiband antennas. Based in the Netherlands, also with good reviews. These antennas do work when designed right.
