      @@TheVWMechanic_official i know brother wish We had such great engineers in greece. Last week i ditched my “reliable” toyota auris 1.2 turbo 2018 after 2 failed gearbox rebuilts (manual not cvt) a failed water pump failed alarm and “perfectly normal lspi rattling” without boost. I m looking for a used or new tsi based engine after realizing that in my life after 4 used cars and a new one (toyota) the most reliable was my fathers vw based engine. Toyota was by far the most unreliable given in was purschased new. I m thinking of getting a 1.5tsi based tiguan manual so i can give it proper love like my auris (oil changes at 7500km with api sn 0w20 oil) hoping i can finally move my family arround reliably

      They use them as taxis here in Sweden, some of them clocking well over 200.000 km. However, as with almost any engine, it can last forever, but it may only last 10k too. Regular maintenance and just a relaxed attitude is enough.

    Looking at purchasing a Skoda Karoq 1.5 with DSG gearbox, 2023 year, i have read various things regarding cambelt change interval, 5 years, /140000 k /belt for life, and so on, also the DSG oil/filter change, is it 4 years and is the box reliable, comments appreciated, thanks.

    • @TheVWMechanic_official
      @TheVWMechanic_official  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey buddy so first of all it’s a pretty robust engine and vw have just updated all their cambelt intervals to pretty much belt for life so it’s 150k and no age as a ball park figure (engines and models vary) and gearbox is done on mileage it’s either 40k or 80k depending on the box and the only issues I see with dsg are mechatronics failures which you can’t really prevent by routine maintenance and stuff

      Hi. Same here. The dealer changed the pipe but I can still hear it…very low noise level though. And can be hear only inside the car in complete silence. Under the bonnet, there are to many noises to distinguish. But for sure is the same issue because if I put the hand on that tube or valve, the pulsation have the same rhythm like the knocking sound which I am hearing it inside car. Unfortunately the noise is so low, that I can‘t catch it in an audio or video…
      However, did you find a solution? Dealer said something?

      @@TheVWMechanic_official I'll inspect the hoses twice a year to avoid such situations. Good thing they have a 4yr 100k km warranty and the extended warranty makes it 6ys 150k kms.
      Apart from this and regular service, is there anything to look out for with these engines. I strictly follow the turbo idling rule though.

      @@TheVWMechanic_official The bend cut in the pipe tells me that this is a design defect & I've always found VW engine bays complex. Switching from Toyota to VW seems a bit scary move for me since i own cars for long term.
      Japanese engines are very simple & less clunky. Didn't have any issues over a decade in my current Toyota. Seeing the complexity here makes sceptical for the 1.5 TSI Slavia (Fabia)

      Engine works still fine, makes not strange sound and no increased oil consumption.

      I’ve done 95k miles in mine now (it’s a taxi) and it’s nowhere near as good as the old 1.9 TDI PDs. I’ve had to replace the turbo at 69k that cost £900 and I’ve been quoted £1k to change the timing belt. It’s not great to drive either, clutch is slightly juddery on a quick take off and the ACT is noisy and intrusive.

    Hello - I have the same noise from my 1.5 Seat Ateca DSG. But I’ve had the part replaced as there was a hole.
    I can hear the noise from the inside but sounds fine in the engine bay. Also noticed that if I change to sports mode the idle revs increase slightly and the noise stops. Any ideas ?

      @@Ninjimdo I have tried today with AC on and indeed you can‘t hear it anymore. But I read on some forums (mainly on Briskoda forum) that is a normal noise for 1.5 TSI due to high pressure pump & injectors. People are also uploading videos there and indeed is same sound like in my car. Pretty sure that same in yours.
      Doesn‘t know what to believe anymore…I just hope that is not paranoia 😅.
