I am really sorry to hear the passing of Fred and I can only say that my heart goes out to his family and I wish you all happiness and continued success.❤🙏
My thoughts exactly. However, on the same train of thought, thats in wite water. Its quite possible that all the fines washed away long ago. But there is that one scene where they panned the tailings that makes me think they missed a whole lot.
Who the hell would do this work to find next to nothing to divide 4-6 ways. Who are guys trying to fool. Your money comes from being in the show and playing it up.
I'm watching from Haines, Alaska, about 30 miles from their work site. It's cold hard work for real but it's strange to see how Discovery UK (Raw TV) exaggerate everything. I talk to these guys and know their families. The work is very real but the film company sells fantasy, imaginary dreams. There are dozens of people working in the area that don't have a film crew or sponsorship. For them it's just cold hard work.
@@xAdam2gx A good day mining in that area means you found enough Gold to pay for the diesel fuel you burned in the pumps and generators...excavator, etc. At least you didn't loose money again.
@@TheChilKat seesh, i mean time spent elsewhere doing something else could make you money... so technically they do lose money lol... apart from these guys doing the TV gig. Its the same in australia though with our Gold shows on discovery... so dramatized for content its just unwatchable.

It's holy F miserable weather in that area, and aggressive bears routinely. These film crews have a full staff. From cooks to nurses. The camp security jobs paid $35/hour USD last year. (Wild TV).
Theres a show on Discovery in Canada called Jade Fever about Jade mining. It's a pretty dumb show but all the Jade they find looks great at first until they cut into it then it turns out to be worthless.
I admire their no quit attitude....but Fred's hunches and speculation have coast alot of work for little reward. Their pride causes them to continue to make rookie mistakes....i.e. not being able to correctly set up a sluce box first try. Sometimes you gotta go where the gold is, not just the heart.
@@weche4083 be fuck they're not. This is their third or fourth year up the mountains and they're only catching decent gold now. Only doing one 4 hour dive a day. They should be running two or three dives a day. One lad out one lad in. Work it in a cycle. Working 4 hours a day is not exactly productive.
I'd like to get in touch with these guys. I have a 4 inch gold dredge, with air pump, water pump, suction hoses, & deliver hoses too, & it's equipped with Gold Hog mats. I can no longer use it in Washington state, thanks to the new regulations, it's cost prohibitive for a hobby miner like myself to acquire the needed permits to operate it!
The claim Junping did not even happen. It was scripted. They wanted to bring fred onto the show so they created drama to bring him in and the Hoffman's wanted a bigger claim with more gold . There was no claim jumping
My question would be...if there's that many big nuggets & gold in the rapids!, what could potentially be at the bottom of that waterfall!!!??... have they ever looked!???...
I have a lot of respect for the work ethic and ingenuity for these guys, but gold mining like this seems like a really difficult way to make living - very dangerous to get down there, risking your life every second, and then it's a complete roll of the dice whether the gold is there or not, glad it was this time, but too often it's not, perhaps these men would be better off putting their skills to a different venture,
Rick should take Tony's offer and use some of Tony's equipment. Fred should stay. Rick yes to both questions, he's getting better and better . More gold is coming.
What is the point of this ... all the money they’re spending and the effort involved for near zero return ... they were clueless mining in Alaska and clueless dredging
I have been watching this show for a while now and its fun to watch but i think this crew is really missing out on there methodology. The fact that there not seeing any fine gold tells me there water speed through the riffle box is way way to fast. Sure looks like it. Its ripping through that box. Thats why there only seeing big chunky gold and not one speck of fine gold. Kayla prove this by extending the riffle box which essentially slows down the water or more time in the riffle box and then found a shit load of fine gold. What i would do is stop using such a big hose and powerful suction go to a smaller hose with less powerful suction and a grate on the end to block sucking up big rocks just suck up dirt and small rocks. Push all the medium size rocks behind you as you go. Maybe have another diver behind you harvesting and removing the medium size rocks behind you as go. Smaller hose means slower water over the riffle box. This means you will catch everything even fine gold. If you got big chunky gold you must have fine gold too. Right now your just blowing it out the back end and I have never seen anyone pan the tailing's now and then to check. A few ounce's of fine gold everyday would make the difference especially in morale and your still going to get any chunky gold. It will take longer to hit bedrock but your making money all the way. I sure would try it because the way your doing it now clearly sucks.
I like the show, but..........last I saw he still owes Hoffman $50,000. look at cost of helo moving & equip. pretty sure he has not made a profit, other then the show paying him. LOL but oh ya he says "kiss my ass" LOL

This show is fake, how four people live on $30k that suppose to be their best season, and speaking of the veterans it is sad, less than a gram, give me a break
i think is not the amount of gold that they make, that makes me like this particular series, but the challenges they have to face...al the other series where they make hundreds of thousand $ worth of gold every week makes the whole enterprise look like a boring industrial process, whilst this one looks like a true adventure...i am just wondering if Discovery pays any bills for the right to record the show?
This is definately more entertaining than moving dirt.. But they are bleeding money every year. Without the TV money they would have given up long ago.
One thing I hate about this show is if you go watch the ones in Alaska or whatever they make more in one week clean up than these guys making the entire season how are they splitting that between 10 people you can't make a living off of that and it's so dangerous I feel like they should be making a million dollars a year each with the danger they're going through on these white water crazy trenches risking their lives hanging off of these fucking cliffs and then you see the guys up in Alaska just digging through fucking dirt like it's a normal day here in Ohio where I live I just don't understand it how do you split 100 Grand in a season between 10 people when up in Alaska they're making 14 million dollars in a season that's not even as long of a season as what they're having I feel like that's a stupid way to gold mine I don't know man I can make a hundred grand a year by myself working a job no I can't make it in 3 months but I can make it in a year and I don't see these guys being able to support families of what they're making just my two cents maybe I'm wrong
So $1500 per dive if you put these guys 4 on $50 per hour 12 hour shifts their losing $900 per day before they even pay a single bill . The cost of setting up camp and fuel transport ect , your bankrupt within a month! Their being paid $ by the TV Network to be there ,you won’t make a single dollar 💵 from doing what their doing!

That water is so clean and perfect to drink w/out treating it.
Parker, loses more than that in his tailings
He better with the millions invested. They are running low income...
That dredge they have is under 20000. That couldn’t lease you one of Parker’s excavators for a year
What a great crew of guys. Great team work.
Thank God Discovery pays their wages cuz with that amount of gold everybody would have done split each other's throats already
They are missing tons of fine gold with that set up, if theres nugs like that there should be smaller gold too
