Finally. Been eagerly awaiting your full thoughts on this series. From little you told me on Reddit, Already decided to purchase the series but I may go the OHC route instead, they look fantastic. In my eyes Tom kings run is very mixed. A few highs but many lows, suspect I'll enjoy Tynion detective more. Cheers Maddogg.
I still have mine sealed so I jumped out before the spoilers started, but you got my hype level up a few notches so it might be time to read it soon. I'd bet after I've watched The Batman I'll start reading it ^^
It's funny. I was really skeptical of this series when I first heard about it. And I didn't read it until it was already completed. I agree the beginning isn't as good. But I thought it was fun even the night of the monster men stuff. Anyway it's definitely a gem and deserved an omnibus collection
When rebirth line started Detective Comics by James Tynion IV was one of my favourite comics to read. I absolutely love it and was heartbroken when it ended. I would also recommend reading his run on the Batman title when he took over after Tom King and his 15 issues Joker run.
My first rebirth run. James IV is actually in my top 3 comic book writers. I love Rebirth detective comics, the art by Martinez is spectacular. My fav vol is 2 and 5. I would recommend JL: dark same writer and artist and the story honestly better than the detective comics run. The art is set even higher especially vol 2, JESUS. I love those two run. I love the new bat family especially clayface and orphan
Something is Killing the Children has the SAME problem with the fakeout double page spread paneling. Felt like such an idiot. I wonder how much of that is a Tynion issue.

If you can only get one Gotham Central is an amazing omnibus. But it’s not a typical superhero book. It’s like watching a detective TV show set in Gotham City. One of my favorite books!
I find that Tynion comics have a LOT of that weird "is the paneling across two pages." Made reading Something is Killing the Children a chore sometimes.
Well yeah if you can afford it. Cataclysm trade can go for a fair bit as its oop and not the easiest to find. Plus the artwork will be oversized in the omni.
