One of things I really like about your channel is you’re not boring to listen to talk fluently no long drawn out storytelling I like it you doing a good job
A big thank you for your video! Just a couple of pro tips: You will need a 3/8 torque wrench that pivots (Harbor Frieght ICON) and at least one extended 8mm hex head socket cut to size to get all the hex head bolts properly torqued to "42" POUND FEET not 50. You are bolting into aluminum heads, so be careful. Remove your front tires. I read another comment about jacking up the engine and trans... That's a great idea. The frame rails are so close to the manifolds that it makes it hard to get to get to the bottom bolts.

I remember the first Duramax & Allison I drove 20 years ago. Super impressed then & they’ve only gotten better across the & board & technology is skyrocketing. I got the exact same kit. I got one side all out just need to remove the driver side. I’m glad I also went with the Ppe down pipe. Maybe a little trick for anyone tackling this not so fun job is to remove the two trans crossmember bolts an put something to distribute the load over a jack under the trans pan and jack it up until the top just touches the floor and get yourself an extra 1-3 inches back there. Makes a big difference IMO as any guy or girl knows a little extra in the right spot means a world of difference! 😉 Happy New Years from KS 👍🏽
I bought the same kit for my build. Lots of people say they’re not worth it but looking at the stock manifolds I can’t see why they can’t be a huge upgrade! Great video 👍🏻
This is just a thought I like using anti seize on manifold bolts as well as other ones just a thought. I know other people are making comments about your heat source you can put a coil inside your garage off your out side central boiler it's like having free Heat.
Huge thanks go to you I got a 2003 lb7 that I'm building. Your videos have been helping me tremendously. I'm defiantly getting this set up I run a hood stack on my truck always worried about my heat messing up gaskets and wire connections.
The ppe are the same as dmax store max flow. I have pictures of both side by side, there literally identical. Up pipes are exact same and they can be swapped
I just put the d max store manifolds and up pipes on my lbz. Didn’t really notice and difference. Exhaust note has a slightly louder wrap to it under a load. Other then that didn’t notice and lower egt ( that’s what I was going after)
When I first bought my LLY and started learning about Duramax motors (and diesel in general). I noticed just how cramped and small all the piping was, especially the exhaust manifolds. I always thought to myself I wonder how much more power these trucks could make just by flowing better. Glad to see they actually work. I bet you'd notice and even bigger difference after a stroker pump and wind her up to 4k
Thank you for all your video's. My 2005 LLY is a work horse. I can not believe how much difference these upgrades have made for power / torque and surprisingly, MILEAGE..
That down pipe bracket is prone to breaking off. I chased a rattle for days before I finally found mine had broke and was rattling against the down pipe. After a search on the groups I found a ton of people have had the same issue.
@@TruckMaster yep, and mine is a PPE down pipe as well. I really didn’t care after the fact though. The hangers support the exhaust well enough and that bracket was never a thing till the later years LML. Never had any issues before.
Great video. May have to add that to the list. I have my HSP traction bars. But about to tackle the input seals on the axle and yoke before I put them on. They have started to seep gear oil out at the yoke.
Put these on my 2014 lml a while back and it sucked but it was worth it! Looks like they started coating them also mine completely rusted in a few days
Great video ! have you tried a great penetrating oil that is home made ? Mix pure full synthetic transmission fluid with equal part of acetone, works great !
You do realize that those manifolds are ceramic coated, taking the temperature on the outside without a egt probe will not give you an accurate exhaust readings. You need to get an egt if you’re going to make recommendations on a purchase.
Hey Josh thanks for your videos they help a lot. Love the detail you put into your installs. I have a question. Back in February of 2018 you done a video for a manifold and up pipe. I was wanting to install the same parts but could not find your part number. I have an 06 GMC with the LBZ. I have 4” exhaust a single stage tune, the pcv delete and egr delete. It has 370000 miles on it. My bellows cracked on my up pipe. So I wanted to put the same thing you installed on mine, I do have a new 3” down pipe to install at the same time. Mine is an everyday driver and I don’t do any racing or very heavy pulling. So would appreciate the info on what you used unless you recommend something else, thanks in advance!
Appreciate all the install videos! I have replaced the down pipe and installed a 4” exhaust and now I am considering the manifolds. I’ve seen the PPE and recently your HSP manifolds. Still deciding which way to go. Cooler EGT and better power is always a plus. Can you explain why only the passenger side exhaust manifold goes to the EGR? Why doesn’t the drivers side… I still run the EGR as I do not want reprogram the computer. Again Thank You!
Surprised you didn't show off how crushed the driver side manifold is from the factory. Flow is a good thing! Compliments the intake piping flow better!
The only mistake I saw (and maybe you did and didn't show it) but you didn't put any anti-seize on the bolts. Seems minor, but it makes things so much easier if you ever have to tear things back apart. I did these when I did my HG in my 05. I had the engine pulled so my job was a lot easier. Which was good, because one of my studs broke off in the head.
Crazy how low your boost is with your high flow iit and new manifolds/up pipes. Mines all stock. Deleted tuned and s&b intake. Ive hit 42lbs boost in tune 5
