I am all in. Live in Hood River. Curious which board is best for this.

I have somehow bene able to sneak into micro waves and wind swell with a 45L prone board. i can imagine with a proper DW board, you can REALLY drive hard with hand paddles and score some swell.
I'm thinking a 85L Majek DW board will work well as I'm 69kg

Hi you mention 1050 is cm2 of the wing ?

Awesome explanation and video examples. What size front wing are you using ? I think most of the Voyagers now using F-one Eagle which is super HA so go's fast but need a lot of speed before the wing engages. Looks like you are on a lift setup so maybe HA170.

Awesome video! Do you think that having gone through the learning curve with the SUP, it helped you to figure out how to catch bumps with the paddles? In other words, for someone who is new to DW (but proficient enough of a foiler), would it be easier to embark on the hand paddle learning curve of DW? Or still easier to embark on the SUP learning curve of DW?

i think itll be easier with the hand paddles. but the voyaging/navigating/bump reading and the skill of downwinding, theres no shortcut.

Cool vid. Could you Share your weight and what board specs (size/width/vol) and foil size /brand you used when you first started paddling with the hand Paddles. Alot bigger gear than using a sup paddle? Also what hand Paddles are you using?

180 pounds, board is 7'4 18" wide and 95L at the time i was using a 1050 sized wing

very interesting video : what is the surface of your hand paddle ? it seems bigger than a classic hand paddle for swimming!

Awesome videos man! So, I’m assuming knee paddling also lets you get away with a shorter, less volume board compared to SUP dw?

Same questions, I’m only got my 85L 6”3 DW board, I think it’s too small for paddle, I’m 70kg, curios if I going to hand paddle..

Should the board be thick in the tail for this? I guess this is impossible without hand paddles? Can’t I make a board that paddles fast enough on my stomach or knees so I don’t need an oar or hand paddles? It would be great to just catch and surf small or large swells without either. Like being a little kid riding a skateboard with soft wheels down the street during the 1970’s. Please let me relive my youth without going to the gym or using a motor (like my electric bike).
