30 Mile Oahu Downwind Voyage
มุมมอง 9812 หลายเดือนก่อน
Alan Davis to area beach so far is Oahus longest downwind stretch we have done. For many years we overlooked or neglected the potential. The wind line is too far outside, the wind direction is finicky, logistics are hard, and so on. But glad we made the voyage because it’s great to get some productive miles in for M2M/M20 training!

Alan Davis is one of Oahu’s stickiest runs with the hectic backwash waters. But if you can conquer it, nothing replicates the speed and rush you get from making it. Also discuss several things I feel with gear, approach and lines I take and other cool topics on downwinding. Enjoy!

20 Mile BIG! Downwind foil Run North Shore Hawaii

We finally voyaged from town and drove out to North Shore to Join Eric Sterman and Aaron Eveland, north shore locals and voyaging veterans. The run did not disappoint, it was 20 miles of wild, big and high speed foiling. Something our town runs or Hawaii kai run can't replicate. It was an amazing day with a group of friends with high stoke and great vibes as usual! Fried chicken at the end made...
Downwind Foiling: POV pointers and concepts for reading bumps

Pumping mechanics, mast height, speed stability, and turning are the various foil skills needed so you can focus on what you are seeing when deciphering the bumps. Build your strong foundation so you can apply and practice the mental aspect of downwind foiling which is the most important and influential part. Get the reps nd the time ou...

Voyager Foiler Reverse Hawaii Kai Run Downwind SUP Foiling

Winter in Hawaii offers some different wind patterns and we were lucky enough with WSW winds in January. Completely opposite and reverse of our normal ENE trade wind pattern. A rare opportunity to start where we finish, and finish where we start! Fun and amazing run and times with fellow voyagers. Featuring John (Armstrong), Ryan (Unifoil), Vince (Nash) and Simeon (FONE).
Voyager Foiler Raw Footage Hawaii Kai Run "7/10"

Voyagerfoiler.com No music necessary, you hear the wind, the foil whistling and the stoke when riding and gliding among fellow voyagers! we have a scale to measure the downwind runs we have, fun, ease and size of bumps are all contributing variables to the scale. Here we have a 7 out of 10. Nothing giant, water and ocean moving well, and enough smiles and good sensations to score this at a 7. w...
Light Wind Big WinG Voyaging (SUP downwind Foil)
มุมมอง 9279 หลายเดือนก่อน
As we transition out of summer months in Hawaii, we have have a drop off in consistency with wind. We will still have patches of wind and potentially reverse runs, but many light to no wind days. Always good exercise, mental practice and voyaging practice to sharpen your skills, dial in your gear and perfect your technique in light wind voyaging. In my opinion, its easier to go from ADs, (3 mil...

Such a good interview. I relate to the 20+ years but I’m more like 50 years and gone back to barely standing. So his return from Utah rings true with me.
Legend! Remember watching his clips to get synced to foil. Super chill dude. Great talk story interview.

Can't believe we're only in 2024 but already reminiscing of the early days of foiling! Soo good 🤙 I can say that for all of us not on Hawaii, all your content in those early days, 2018-19-20 was super inspirational for us to take and attempt to apply back home. Foilwizard was the first one focusing on style on the foil. Enjoyed the interview!

This is sick!!
That is a huge effort. Bumps looked brutal for an 800 wing. Voyaging for sure.

Awesome what size boards you guys on ?
I’m on an 8’4 114 L board. Nick 9’0 105L I believe
Sick! I want to do it!
Next time we got solid east winds let’s go!
@@voyagerfoiler5976 yeah, let me know an I’ll fly over!
Looks so fun, whats ur opinion on where to put GoPro on the paddle. I did a run today with Gopro and a floaty near the top of the paddle under the handle, and it was tough to get my usual cadence when paddling. I'm curious to know your thoughts. thx
Yeah, too close to the T top handle and it’s a little off. 4-6 inches from the t towards the shaft works well!
Hi. What fone wing, tail and mast do you use? Thx
@@arno25475 80cm mast, Eagle x 800 145 DW stab
I have the same foil eagle x 800. I am 70kg, doing wingfoiling in the mediterranean sea. I wingfoil downwind, and have a hard time staying on a swell/bump more than 10seconds, i cant connect bumps really and tend to run out of speed and lift. Any tips on how to connect bumps with the 800? Thx
@@arno25475 do your best to go at angles more or carve. To slow down and stay with the energy. The 800 is a great wing
Mayjah runs going down!!! 🦅
i like that voyager vision at the end!
this is one of the best downwind foil videos on TH-cam. Thanks guys!!

Brilliant fellas!
You guys have it going on
Great discussion boys! Coming from a shortboard background, I definitely had a period of time while learning to foil where jumping back on a shortboard took a couple waves to get things dialed back in. I found that as I got better at foiling, the transition back to a shortboard got easier and easier each time I did it. Totally agree with you that now I feel like, if anything, foiling has helped to further improve my surfing and keep things sharp for when the waves are actually good enough to surf. Keep up the great work!
Stoked it's not just us. That woulda been awkward. Ha!!
