I had a dvd with this segment from a sport compact car magazine that i watched easily hundreds of times. Now I have s 13 year old that I'm sharing this magic with thanks to finding this on youtube.
pity we can't appreciate the fine sound of a vehicle anymore... we need to have multiple mufflers to be quiet and not get our cars taken away - "Australia" :(

It really sucks hey. I feel your pain mate I feel your pain.
since a couple of weeks, i find myself watching this video again and again just to hear that awesome engine sound of hakosuka. it makes me feel good. :)
Japan's Ferrari 250 GTO and probably almost as valuable. May not be as beautiful (subjective) but same goosebump-raising scream with half the cylinders of the GTO and same reverance and track dominance.
The Hakosuka beat Japan's best cars. The 250GTO beat the worlds best cars. There is a reason the 250 GTO is the most sought after car in the world. Its because of its VALUE.
Not quite, but close. The stock motors made 160hp, but the racing engines made over 200 (supposedly). It's at least got open carbs and racing exhaust, which aren't stock. The stock motor is a beast anyway; short-stroke 2.0L straight six. If you wanted to match it's power per liter with a 350 small-block V8, you'd need 462hp, from the factory. Factory small blocks from this period made like 250hp. The S20 might not be in the same league as the Honda F20C, but it's much older (and smoother).
i dont even need to watch this video, the sounds are more than enough. god i love that sound. my s2000 sounds great at 9150rpms but this thing is pure evil.
The engine in the Nissan GT-R (the new one) is a VR38DETT (3.8L Twin Turbo V6). The engine in the car in the video is the S20 (2.0 L N/A Inline 6). The VQ he was talking about is the V6 engine that's in the 350z/370z/Maxima/etc. (VQ is the engine name...it comes in diff. displacements, most commonly the 3.5L and 3.7L)
The RB is what comes in the R31/R32/R33/R34 skylines and in a few years of the Holden Commadore (and a few other special cars). It is either a 2.0L/2.5L/2.6L/3.0L inline 6 and can be N/A/Turbo/or Twin Turbo. If this isn't detailed enough, check out wiki on the nissan engines.
I entirely agree, it's not an SR20. Not sure why you mention it, since the guy you're replying to didn't mention anything about an SR20, he was talking about the S20, which is what the Skyline GT-R had.
it may not have had much power but im sure would pretty much be right up there with similar cars in its class from the time period anywhere in the world
Play this video when I am ill and will jump out of the bed immediate!. This is unbelievable.. YEEEEEHAAAAAAAA..........goosebumps all over. Old school 6-cylinder engine sound.
I don't understand why they said this was the last run of a hakosuka gt-r on Fuji speedway? Anyone with a GT-R can go to an open track day or sign up for a classic racing event and go race there, I'm sure they have plenty track days there.
Nissan guys if you ever read this which i know you wont, stop making mass produced crap and take a listen to this wonderful old S20 exhaust note the way the revs crackle and pop through the gears, the lovely high rpm staccato along the fuji straight this is what cars are all about i hope the Japanese car industry remember this soon
Yeah I agree mate, looking at that engine it's not an S20 huh, I agree it looks like an L Series, maybe an L28 or even an L31 (overbore and crank mod?) Would love to know!
dude, honda developed vtec in early 90s or even late 80s... and turbocharging isn't "fair" in motorsports, for example, 1.5 l bmw had 1300hp :) so N/A is N/A, turbocharging and supercharging is a field of lot more horses..
i lost count to how many times i've watched this
and every time he shifts down at the corner at 1:33 I get goosebumps
Same 😆
I had a dvd with this segment from a sport compact car magazine that i watched easily hundreds of times. Now I have s 13 year old that I'm sharing this magic with thanks to finding this on youtube.
Me too the same.
Nice is a bit more footage of this car racing on TH-cam too.
The sound is amazing
man from 2:16-2:22 man it really does sound like all of the modern tuned GTRs today. This was definitely the pioneer of the GTRs we all love today.
63 years old and still smashing those corners, i hope i can still drive like that at that age because i absolutely would!
The first cars named Skyline GT-R ( this model ) were produced between 1969 and 1972...
he's talking about the driver you lugnut.
He’s still driving.
@@fontheking5hes talking about the gansan. The driver who is in the machine. He is one talented og
naturally aspirated straight 6's make great sounds, especially with sidedraft carburetors, headers and big single exhaust.
and driven to within a few rpm of blowing them up for lap after lap.
@@pauljohnson7may can you don't see the age of the comment it's 8 years old I don't think there going to respond
@@xexvlogs5371I'm pretty sure they don't give a fuck
Real cars with real engines doing real racing.... Good times...
Just the sound.. OMG! Give me chills in my body! high pitch exhaust sound!
in 2018 still one oft he best car video's on youtube!
In 2020 too!
2021 too
Include 2022 in that
What I love is there is absolutely no attempt to hide or tame it's rawness.
amazing sound.... intoxicating.
Honestly I think that might just be the most intoxicating sound ever... Inline six are king
Brings chills to my spine! This gtr (hakosuka) sounds amazing!
Been watching this video for 13 years!
Nothing compares to the sound of an NA, ITBs, Headers and obviously that Engine
Orozconleche no ITBs in this case. Those are carbs
and this was some of the best 4 minutes and 21 seconds in my life. that car is amazing.
pity we can't appreciate the fine sound of a vehicle anymore... we need to have multiple mufflers to be quiet and not get our cars taken away - "Australia" :(
It really sucks hey. I feel your pain mate I feel your pain.
As someone who lives near a main road, I am SO glad more people aren't inconsiderate douchebags roaring around at 3am.
Australian road laws manage to be the antithesis of fun while simultaneously avoiding any benefit to overall safety whatsoever.
I feel you I live in germany...........
You gave your country away to jews, what did you expect?
The 2.0 Sounds amazing. WOW!
I love watching this over and over , sounds amazing at high volume , pure mechanical sound
since a couple of weeks, i find myself watching this video again and again just to hear that awesome engine sound of hakosuka. it makes me feel good. :)
The sound gives me shivers
(I am a Corvette guy and) I have to say that thing is AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!
heard that man... just like the old BMW's cant beat their raw sound and power. love this car to death
What a sound. Wow.
Japan's Ferrari 250 GTO and probably almost as valuable. May not be as beautiful (subjective) but same goosebump-raising scream with half the cylinders of the GTO and same reverance and track dominance.
"Almost as valuable". Its not worth anywhere near $30million. Would barely even scrape $1mil. Great cars though.
Fujimamanama VALUE not PRICE, there's a difference, the Hakosuka has about the same value as the 250 GTO
The Hakosuka beat Japan's best cars. The 250GTO beat the worlds best cars. There is a reason the 250 GTO is the most sought after car in the world. Its because of its VALUE.
@Frank White unreliable?? Then how did it win endurance races jackoff??
Sounds every bit as savage as the 250 gto which I've watched many, many times also.
Every now and then I come back to watch this video just to hear that engine rip!
God damn It sounds like it don't want to stop revving. Sounded like he just had to up shift because the gears maxed out!!!
Old video but good video, electric cars may go faster but somehow I think the soul won't be there.

3.0 CSL from the same era and category made way more power and was way more race successful........
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo You compare apples to pears and still...you are wrong.
I'm rewatching that video for years now
Another reason why we love Best Motoring International and Hot Version DVDs - for their segments like this one. 10/10!
I think this is the perfect gtr second close to r32, the proportion of the car is just right.
Came back to watch this master piece 🎉2023
December 2020 still one of the best car vids
Nothing like hearing it scream coming down that straightaway!!!!!! Ear candy!
That thing looks so awesome. Probably the best looking historic japcar.
Still one of the most exciting vids on TH-cam. Gives me a woody everytime.
Best straight six sound for me
omg .... i could close my eyes and listen to that all day!
What a glorious sound!🤟🥰👍beautiful car indeed!😎👍
Seen this car today, the sound it makes is heavenly.
this video is 10 yrs old...i feel old..
Its older than that i think. More 2004ish, before Fuji got the F1 upgrade (downgrade)
I'd swap my ride for one of these in a heartbeat.
I have been looking for this video. Somewhere I have a dvd from a magazine with this and other skyline related paraphernalia, gotta hunt for it!
Well said sir. I can never get bored of looking at kpgc10's.
See if people start making more video without music and just the exhaust note of the car then it would be great.
i dont even need to watch this video, the sounds are more than enough. god i love that sound. my s2000 sounds great at 9150rpms but this thing is pure evil.
This I can appreciate. Honda does do a great job of getting good power out of very small displacement.
The engine in the Nissan GT-R (the new one) is a VR38DETT (3.8L Twin Turbo V6). The engine in the car in the video is the S20 (2.0 L N/A Inline 6).

lol this is like the 5th time i have come back to this video. God damn that sound is SOOOO GOOOD
for this car i would kill for😉nice Job Mr.Hakosuka

If this isn't detailed enough, check out wiki on the nissan engines.
i like that this vid is 15 years old and has less than 1/2 million views. A true hidden secret.
I found it 9 years ago and still Coe for the sound
This and the Alfa Romeo Busso V6s are the best sounding sixes..
The R8 doesn't have a V6...
add the Porsche 959 and any 6 cylinder 911 to that list and i cant agree more!
ill add the honda rc166 to the list
What? Do you ever heard the engine of 240Z? Or the 350Z? Not even mention a RB26 screaming all the way to 9k rpm ...
dmendonsa the 350z does not sound good, and the 240/260/280Z cars sound like tractors.
I just pitched a tent.
Great, thanks to that exhaust note, I am now pregnant! ffs
Guys 2:15 😭 it sounds like a monster out of the corner. this thing is beautiful. listen to 2:15
1:37 i cant stop listen :D
Ikr.... I pulled it back around 6 times already
I tho the US just wants to muffle that beautiful sound :(
I entirely agree, it's not an SR20. Not sure why you mention it, since the guy you're replying to didn't mention anything about an SR20, he was talking about the S20, which is what the Skyline GT-R had.

I wish the Fuji Speedway was exactly like this plus the big banking ,today ..........
The hakosuka is truly legendary
Play this video when I am ill and will jump out of the bed immediate!.
This is unbelievable.. YEEEEEHAAAAAAAA..........goosebumps all over.
Old school 6-cylinder engine sound.
Sounds fuckn epic
And that's why they call it godzilla
Love it!!!
They never called the Hakosuka "Godzilla".
good to see one in person let alone drive one. holy shit!
The engine noise reminds me of the scream given by a warrior making a charge in an old Japanese samurai drama.
I've got tears in my eyes. Thanks for posting this, it's just magic!
I got chills just listening to this! D=
Best sounding car
I cant get enough of this vid....
I like how the music stops just as the car gets close enough to really hear the engine.
At 1:35 just in case you were wondering... :)
@seven7thirteen13 the "mini intercooler" your talking about is actually an oil cooler its was popular with kpgc's in the 60's and 70's
@BoQuan22 What do you mean? Was a hakosuka in that movie or it was simply mentioned?
My blood boiling for the sound...this would be my new car in WMMT3dx+...
Finally Found something that sounds better than a air cooled porsche
They don't sound that good tbh... At least not compared to those Audi group B 5-cylinders....
The sound of baby lions being fed into the engine. LOL.
Yeah, this engine sound is heavenly. It brings out the real GT-R gene.
I was thinking which musik I want on my funeral..... This will be it. Fat engine sound.
There will still be goosebumps on my skin. YEAH.......
Just imagine the sound of that s20 vs the rx3 and its melodic rotary redline lol
i need an rx2/3 and a hakosuka parked side by side in my garage asap
Music to your ears.
thats just ... heaven.
@DrifterTank240
how much power is this motor making? where can i find some specs on this exact car?
oh man, that thing sounds beautiful
amazing. car Godlike motor
Just...amazing...godzilla all motor damn too nice...responce and everything god o god
That carb just wanna rev and rev and rev and rev some more....
That beauty eats the corners! WANT
Holy shoot this video came out when in the year i was born
Haka Sue ka? HAHAH OMG his pronunciation is hilarious! More like "Ha Co ska". Great video none the less !
I don't understand why they said this was the last run of a hakosuka gt-r on Fuji speedway? Anyone with a GT-R can go to an open track day or sign up for a classic racing event and go race there, I'm sure they have plenty track days there.
gotta love the outboard oil cooler hahaha
Straightpipe would be my guess...that's just how the engine sounds, no special mufflers required, much like the RB series engines :)
Nissan guys if you ever read this which i know you wont, stop making mass produced crap and take a listen to this wonderful old S20 exhaust note
the way the revs crackle and pop through the gears, the lovely high rpm staccato along the fuji straight
this is what cars are all about
i hope the Japanese car industry remember this soon
its worth way more than that man. i saw one on sale before on a forum for $40,000
and an OS Giken twin Cam for $60,000
such sounds! Skyline heritage ftw!
I actually have a scale model of the Hakosuka like this in the video except it has 8 instead of 6.
That is music !!! awesome sound
holy shit those are fast they sound so great
yeah short stroke and straight six is best combination!
its a beautiful piece of machinery, wouldn't you say??
Yeah I agree mate, looking at that engine it's not an S20 huh, I agree it looks like an L Series, maybe an L28 or even an L31 (overbore and crank mod?) Would love to know!
