Lilo being autistic-coded is so so important to me. Like her being bullied for being different and finding companionship in other “weird” things and having this obsession with photographing tourists just makes her so real and relatable

Also, Nani is canonically 19 years old in this movie. Imagine you’re a pro surfer, and then overnight your parents die, you have to take care of your 6yo sister, and help her through her grief as you work through yours. My heart goes out to Nani so much.
Ikr Nani and lilo are 2 of my favorite animated characters of all time and their stories are so sad and heartbreaking. But someone pointed out that the reason lilo feeds pudge a sandwich, regularly, is bc the parents died in a storm and shes trying to prevent it from happeneinh again,i guess.
That comes up in the series as well. A few of Nani's old high school friends come to vacation and run into her. They think she managed to make it as a pro surfer and she's embarrassed to tell them the truth
Pleakley is “him” canonically his first name is Wendy Pleakley and he is very much into drag and I love that this was done especially in the early 00s 😂🤟🏼

Oh you have no idea. Pleakley, the one-eyed alien in the wig, is a queer icon. Especially for anyone who's seen the show that was on the Disney channel. They didn't even hide it.
Sad fact: (and a small history lesson) the way the US acquired Hawaii as a state was because Hawaii was originally a monarchy and so the US imprisoned their queen for years and the song Nani sings to Lilo was written by their queen for her people while she was imprisoned
Your history is wrong. #1 Queen Lili'uokalani was arrested and imprisoned in her *palace's upstairs bedroom* #2 she was conspiring to over throw the government of the republic of Hawaii #3 it was not years, it was from January to September of 1895 (8 months) until the rebellion stopped
A couple details about the movie: If you go back to the scene where Stitch is used to play a vinyl recording, Nani has a lot of trophies in her room. It is assumed that she was a professional surfer, or working to become one, before her parents died and she had to give up on that dream to raise Lilo. There's a scene that was cut from the movie that explains why Lilo takes pictures of tourists. Basically she's had a lot of interactions with ignorant tourists who were treating her like an exotic animal ("oh, look! A local!"). So she started taking their pictures like they are the exotic animals, to get back a little bit of emotional control over those situations, as a way to help her deal. This is one of my all-time favourite movies. I love your reactions, and all the picks you've listed make me so excited to see more of your channel. Much love from Germany!

Theres so many good details about this movie! But Nani and David really are the best. Keep in mind Nani was 19, she just lost her parents too and now has to be the parent. This movie is so wonderful for "broken" families that have suffered loss. My family was decimated by more than half within ~15 years from deaths and divorce, including both of my older sisters. We're down to myself, my adult niece, and my parents now, and I often use the line from this movie to describe us: "This is my family. It may be little, and broken, but it's still good."
Lottsa deleted scenes portray Lilo's perspective of the tourists far more, they treat her as an "other" in her own home, so she photographs tourists the same as they usually do with natives. I suggest checking em out, would've loved if it was more a part of the film's themes! Only really present in the theatrical cut with the "fakey luau" Nani's fired from and Lilo's wall
Lilo and Stitch is one of the best movies I've enjoyed. It's so funny, awesome and emotional. Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten 😢😢😢🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🤣
Why is Pudge the fish important? Because of this, Lilo has come to the conclusion that Pudge the fish controls the weather-as he is a fish in water and rain comes from the water- and gives him peanut butter sandwiches so no other kid has to go through what she did. She is coping with the loss of her dead parents. And this is her only way of being able to express her feelings about this. I read somewhere on Disney facts sideline that explained that she blames herself because on the day she didn't feed him a sandwich, the storm happened, and her parents died. So, this is why she thinks Pudge the fish controls the weather and it's a sad tale yes. But she has a lot to deal with being a 7-year-old who's being raised by a teenage sister. Lilo is also heavily damaged herself. She suffers from abandoned child syndrome which is a common illness among children who have lost their parents. She also has a behavioral disorder called intermittent explosive disorder in which she often has outbursts of anger and usually takes it out on her classmates violently. I wanted to share this with you.
Fun fact: the spaceship chase scene in the mountains was a reshoot. They were originally in a plane with buildings then the day of darkness happened. So it was changed.
I’ve been waiting for this!!! I’m from Hawaii, and I love how this movie captures the people of Hawaii. Especially the look, I could point to a 100 people who look like Nani. Even their pidgin accents are great. Such an underrepresented group of people in the media ❤
fun fact i like to tell people watching this movie for the first time: remember how lilo has a tradition of bringing pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich every thursday bc he controls the weather? remember how her parents died in a car crash bc it was raining? :D
Seeing the relationship between lilo and Nani is so nice to see because it’s so realistic! And although I never lost my parents I was raised with a single mom who worked her ass off to provide for us so I was left to help with my siblings and the fighting and setting is so real 🥹♥️
A couple tidbits to rend your heart: “Lilo” is Hawaiian and means “lost.” So someone lost and someone to mend the heart back together. Lilo is in the autism spectrum. It’s why she is so challenged relating to others. She and the entire movie is special.
Ah, yes... The beautiful lifeguard and, of course, David. They were great contribuitions to my bisexual awakening. And, speaking of bisexuals: you need to watch "Mulan" and to know the bicon Li Shang.

When I first watched this movie back then and learned Bubbles dealt with aliens in his past (plus his shades), I thought his character was a reference to Agent J, Will Smith's character in "MiB - Men in Black".
This is one of my all time favourite animated movies hands down, alongside two of those you mention coincidentally 😅 The character's in this movie are allowed to have emotions even when they aren't "pretty" and they feel far more realistic because of it, i never get through it without crying a whole lot. Would love you to consider bednobs and broomsticks and Lilo & Stitch 2 for the channel 😊 also a possible series? Dead boy detectives on netflix?

This is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. I love how Lilo just accepts everyone for who (or what) they are. I love the realistic portrayal of the relationship between Nani and Lilo. Something a lot of people miss is the reasoning behind Lilo's fixation on making sure Pudge gets his sandwich. She says, "Pudge controls the weather." Her parents died driving on a rainy night. It's her way of making sense of and controlling her world in a way that makes sense to her child worldview.
Hunchback is an underrated movie. Music is fantastic and the villain is so horrible because he is so real like someone who could actually exist (and probably has)
I just watched this movie for the first time in _years_ a few weeks ago. I barely remembered watching it, but my goodness it brought me to tears *twice.* Love this film, so cool that you're watching it!

The audible gasps I produced when you said you haven’t watched Atlantis and Hunchback of Notre Dame genuinely concerned my co workers 😂😂😂 also I would love to see you react to Grease and Hairspray that would be iconic! ❤❤❤
Sad History fact: originally the big climatic space ship chase was going to have Nani, Jamba, Stitch and Pleakly steal a plane and do the chase through the city. Then, unfortunately 9/11 happened and they quickly had to change the scene to their own spaceship and flying through the mountains. They had to change it for obvious reasons…but you can find the cut scene somewhere on youtube
What's sad about Nanis luau job is that this is actually what Hawaiians had to do when the western culture took over. A luau was a sacred practice until the westerners took the concept and had the audacity to change it into a time to stuff your face with food and put on grass skirts and coconut bras and dance the hula. And when they had these events, they didn't even let actual Hawaiian people in, so to make money to take care of themselves, the Hawaiians were hired to work in these disgraceful events to clean up after the tourists like slaves only to make less than a buck.
Stitch has been my favorite disney character since I was a child. His behavior is the result of his neglect, he was made to be a monster & he embraces that, but he grows from that because he wants more than that. It is like when a kid is raised to believe that there is something wrong with them, that they don't deserve love. That's part of why Lilo & Stitch's friendship is so impactful- they are both coming at it from the same perspective, just different experiences.
Lilo and Stitch NEVER made me cry....someone help me understand why I'm tearin up during this reaction!? 🤧 It's about time I subscribe Hairspray will get moovin for sure🎵🎶🎵🎵🎷🎸🎺📻
This will always be my favorite Disney movie! Found family, bit of a comedy, action, sadness! Everything you could want but also tackling hard topics but doing it in a way kids can digest but also hits the grown ups in such a different way understanding the full thing 😭
The scene with the spaceship chase through the city was actually redone after the movie was already made. Originally they hijack a plane and chase down Gantu though the city. They changed it because it involved the plane crashing into a building. Right before it was set to be released in theaters, 9/11 happened, and they made the executive decision to delay the release in theaters to reanimate it so now its just a spaceship that LOOKS like a plane.
I love this movie because it touches very quickly on colonization, gentrification, grief, sisterhood, and how unjust the United States systems are. Lilo taking a picture of the tourist in HER home land (because thats what tourists do with everything), Nani singing the song that was made from their Queen to her, CPS targeting low-income and barely surviving (and mostly POC) families and separating them, even if they do all the right things. And Nani having to make sacrifices to her own life and giving up her ambitions to raise Lilo, which is a reality for a lot of people. Mertle (or whatever her name is) treating Lilo like an outcast in her own land when SHE is just another gentrifier and colonizer, and having the nerve to treat her like an alien. Even the music of the movie is so well thought out and having a Native Hawaiian like Mark Kealiʻi Hoʻomalu put his cultural touch on it made it soo much better. Several of these issues are still extremely prevalent in the United States. This movie is very special to me.
Oh PLEASE eventually react to Hunchback, you will be GAGGED at how hard Disney goes in that one. The music, the story, the animation, it is my all time fave. I think your jaw might drop once you realize how dark the movie actually is!
Ahhhhh! So excited for this! Lilo and Stitch is such a gem, and I don't feel like it's talked about nearly enough. Another Disney film that you should totally add to your list (if it's not there already) is Treasure Planet. That is my absolute favorite Disney movie, and it's very underrated. Love your reactions, Niall! Keep it up :)
Lilo and Stitch is such a good movie!! One of my favorite Disney films (you're right, it defintiely feels pretty different from most of their other movies!), and it makes me really happy as a Hawaiian who used to be a really weird kid. Funny fact: The reason Lilo has an obsession with photographing tourists is most likely a joke about how tourists go to places like Hawaii and take pictures of locals, so Lilo does the opposite 😂
The song Nani sings to Lilo is the song the queen of Hawaii wrote before she was forcibly removed from the throne by the US. Also, the ship was originally going to fly through a city. Then 9/11 happened and they changed it to the mountains.
Omg, I would definitely recommend for you to watch the Hunchback of Notre Dame. In my opinion, it is Disney's darkest animated (still somehow) children's movie. The opening is on the same level of epic as that of the Lion King. The songs are all just pure bangers! A 10/10 movie, really recommend watching it!
I will also say it’s very refreshing to see different scenes that you have personally reacted to. I’ve watched quite a few of these Lilo and stitch reactions and you’re showing a lot of sections of the movie that other reactors haven’t shown so genuine props dude that’s wassup.

"This is my family.
Treasure Planet is beautifully animated pirate movie.
“Oh good. My dog found the chainsaw” top tier cinema line. The delivery 🤌🏻
My goat, my queen, Auntie Pleakley, is and always will be a drag ICON💄💅💋💃✨️👑
Fun fact: Chris Sanders, the co-director, co-writer, voice actor for Stitch, and character designer, draws pinups in these character styles.
I would love to see you do Atlantis! Milo is bisexual twink coded and I love him so much.
Lilo and Stitch is one of the best movies I've enjoyed. It's so funny, awesome and emotional. Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten
😢😢😢🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🤣
I agree 😢😢
A cool fun fact is the voice of Lilo is also the voice of Chihiro from Spirited Away in the Dub English version!
I’ve been waiting for this!!! I’m from Hawaii, and I love how this movie captures the people of Hawaii. Especially the look, I could point to a 100 people who look like Nani. Even their pidgin accents are great. Such an underrepresented group of people in the media ❤
I remember reading the VAs are Hawaiian and used real “slang” and phrases too.
fun fact i like to tell people watching this movie for the first time: remember how lilo has a tradition of bringing pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich every thursday bc he controls the weather? remember how her parents died in a car crash bc it was raining? :D
I dont know why but the 2 second pause then lilo jumpeing to beat the shot out of that other kid is the funniest thing in this movie to me
Lilo and Stitch has always been my favourite animated film growing up!! All the characters are just so real and the story is beautiful ✨
How the heck am I just now noticing the Mulan reference?
Seeing the relationship between lilo and Nani is so nice to see because it’s so realistic! And although I never lost my parents I was raised with a single mom who worked her ass off to provide for us so I was left to help with my siblings and the fighting and setting is so real 🥹♥️
the look on your face when Bubble said he was part of Roswell was funny AF🤣
A couple tidbits to rend your heart: “Lilo” is Hawaiian and means “lost.” So someone lost and someone to mend the heart back together. Lilo is in the autism spectrum. It’s why she is so challenged relating to others. She and the entire movie is special.
“This is the future liberals want!!” (complimentary)
Ah, yes... The beautiful lifeguard and, of course, David. They were great contribuitions to my bisexual awakening. And, speaking of bisexuals: you need to watch "Mulan" and to know the bicon Li Shang.
YESSSS our bi king! Voiced by queer actor B.D. Wong!
Niall: *names movies to react *
Us: Yes
Hey did you know that there are 3 more movies (all together)the next one is stitch has a glitch, then comes stitch the movie, the series (which there is of)witch you have to watch before you see the last movie Leroy and stitch and no that’s not a typo that’s the name of the last movie you should watch the rest and record it and put it up on TH-cam!!!!!!!
I feel like you should do every lilo and stich movie. Because they are all underrated 😢
When I first watched this movie back then and learned Bubbles dealt with aliens in his past (plus his shades), I thought his character was a reference to Agent J, Will Smith's character in "MiB - Men in Black".
This is one of my all time favourite animated movies hands down, alongside two of those you mention coincidentally 😅
The character's in this movie are allowed to have emotions even when they aren't "pretty" and they feel far more realistic because of it, i never get through it without crying a whole lot.
Would love you to consider bednobs and broomsticks and Lilo & Stitch 2 for the channel 😊 also a possible series? Dead boy detectives on netflix?
Love how real the relationships feel and as an autistic person, I love Lilo as ASD representation! 🥰
So glad you reacted to this movie! It’s one of my favourite Disney movies. I also just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been in and out of the hospital a ton lately due to a medical condition, and it’s been extremely traumatic and hard to get through. Your videos are on my phone or tv while I try to stop my symptoms, and I actually catch myself laughing even through all of my suffering. If I didn’t have your videos to watch and enjoy, I’m not sure how I’d cope with my medical episodes. Thank you for putting the time in to make these videos, and unknowingly making a strangers life easier. Wishing you all the best ❤️
Oh wow, this comment made me teary eyed! I’m so sorry to hear about your medical condition and I wish you all the best in your recovery. Thank you for reminding me why I keep working on this silly little channel. All I ever wanna do is to make people laugh and smile with my commentary so I’m glad that my videos allow you a bit of escapism. I’m wishing you all the best and thinking of you!! Take care and look after yourself 💚✨
@@niallnochill Unfortunately it’s a permanent thing but my doctors are working on making it manageable. You’ve accomplished your goal to make others smile, I can’t wait to see how you continue to grow and inspire others :)
I hope your condition is stabilized and as minimal as possible soon!
@@chellesama8256 that’s very sweet, thank you :)
Fun fact: the actress who voices Lilo is the same one who plays Samara in The Ring (the first one)
I had forgotten how beautiful the animation in this movie is. I wish Disney still did 2D animation like this. :(
I would love to see you react to Brother Bear if you haven't seen it yet! Such an underrated and emotionally deep film
When Stitch is alone in the woods and cries out “I’m lost” hoping it will bring his family like what he read in the book… it just broke me
Hunchback is an underrated movie. Music is fantastic and the villain is so horrible because he is so real like someone who could actually exist (and probably has)
Fun fact the last Disney movie that was fully drawn was The Little Mermaid.
This is one of my absolute favorite movies. The holy Trinity being Lilo and Stitch, Atlantis, and Treasure Planet
I just watched this movie for the first time in _years_ a few weeks ago. I barely remembered watching it, but my goodness it brought me to tears *twice.* Love this film, so cool that you're watching it!
Emperors New Groove and Atlantis are some of my absolute favorites. I quote lines from Emperors New Groove all the time 😅
You should 100% react to those
Yesss this! I’m constantly quoting the “oh yeah, it’s all coming together” part
@sayit2myinterface I work with machinery at work and we actually have levers we have to pull so I always tell my coworker " Pull the lever Kronk" 🤣 My coworker hates it 🙃
The audible gasps I produced when you said you haven’t watched Atlantis and Hunchback of Notre Dame genuinely concerned my co workers 😂😂😂 also I would love to see you react to Grease and Hairspray that would be iconic!
It's about time I subscribe
Hairspray will get moovin for sure🎵🎶🎵🎵🎷🎸🎺📻
Every single one of the license plates says A113, a popular Disney Easter egg
"If it were me, I'd kill it in its sleep" made me shriek laugh. Thank you XD
My *absolute* favourite movie. I saved the ost on Spotify and followed the main singer.
All of his songs are super nice.
The sign on Lilo's bedroom door says kapu. Means forbidden, so it's basically a keep out sign.
Oh PLEASE eventually react to Hunchback, you will be GAGGED at how hard Disney goes in that one. The music, the story, the animation, it is my all time fave. I think your jaw might drop once you realize how dark the movie actually is!
20:23 - 20:39 LITERALLY ME AS A KID WHEN SHE GAVE ME A LESBIAN AWAKEDING
I can't wait to see the live action movie next year😁
Lilo and Stitch is such a good movie!!
As an LGBT ginger Celt, I feel this anytime I go out in the sun. I'm so pale Gondor calls for aid
Finally! Lilo and Stitch is my favourite Disney movie, followed by Big Hero 6. Love love love it
Wow, I’ve been treating you with the reactions then ✌🏼🩷
Not me crying when Stitch said he found family all on his own. 😭
I'm sorry but "This is my family. I found it all on my own"??? BROKE ME
Love how earth is in area 51 for the alians
Lilo like "YOU WANNA SEE CRAZY???"🤛🤛
Like you’re genuinely showing so much more than any other reactor and I am so fucking here for it! More than Half of them didn’t get those little pieces of backstory that really mattered and you did! And I really appreciate that! 😁
I just love you’re energy so much when I’m having a bad day I just love&enjoy watching you’re videos keep it up 🫶🏽☺️I’m so happy you’re finally watching lilo&stitch it’s my favorite childhood movie 🍿💙❤️
What a sweet thing to say, thank you so much!!
Also, I feel kind of attacked LMAO 😂 “ simple creatures, aren’t we?” Boy speak for yourself. I’m more complex in a Rubik’s cube. Lmao 🤣
Man, this movie made me confused on my sexuality as a kid. I mean sure Lilo’s sister is hot, but that dinosaur in the space suit and whatever the name of the captain who’s trying to capture stitch is.
Captain Gantu. And for me, it was David and the beautiful lifeguard.
