Tasha, I am a 60 year old man and this too is my favorite song of all time. It has special meaning to me and my eyes water as I listen to it these many years now. I remember well the early afternoon in August of 1980 when my parents dropped me off at my university dorm and they helped me move in my things and clothes. Things were moving too fast for me. As I looked at my mother she would look at me and smile and whisper to me, "its going to be alright", the way only a mother can reassure her child. As she put my things away and they were leaving, dad said I have one more thing for you son and he went out to the pick up and brought me a brand new radio. As we hugged and said our goodbyes I saw them pull away and disappear in the distance. I went back into my room, laid belly down on my bed and looked out the window and turn on the radio, the song that started was, yes, you guess it, "Sailing". My eyes started to water and all I could see was my mother saying to me, "Its going to be alright". After all these many years, this song is still my favorite song of all time. RIP mom and dad.

Man, This had me tearing up…When I was a young kid, my mother, now deceased, used to have an old Chevy with a manual transmission shift on the steering column. She would drive the HELL out of that car. My mom would listen to country music stations only in her car. This song would come on often and she would crank it up while we’re flying down the highway with the windows down. This is really making me miss her so much. Great memory.

I was traveling across the country on an adventure with my best friend. It was the late 70's, almost 80's. I wasn't from a well off family so airplane travel was not something we did. The song comforted me as I was sailing way above the clouds over 30,000 feet, a little scared but excited. It will always be an innocent song of adventure, that comforted me.

A feeling of freedom to have peace. Just peace and contentment. Lack of strife of any kind from anyone or towards anyone.

Since I was very young, every time this song came on my mind instantly took me into flying like in your dreams you can fly. I imagine having a love with someone that creates the feeling this song creates. Christopher Cross is the GOAT song writer. Thank you for liking this song and your reaction!! The alien's are invited to the BBQ for sure!!

This and Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" are my favorites. Two of the most beautiful and melancholy songs ever recorded.

"Sailing" reminds me of being at the beach with my friends right after we graduated in 1982, since we had it on tape and played it quite a lot. It takes me back to a simpler time and reminds me that music itself is the thing that "takes me away" and has been one of my favorite songs since the first time I heard it. I have so many favorite songs, but a couple of the prettier ones are "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" by Simon & Garfunkel and "Time" by The Alan Parsons Project. I think Tasha would love both.

Very underrated musician! Chris Cross is really, really good. Can really play guitar, too. I, too, absolutely LOVE this song! I'm both a sailor and retired Navy, but this reminds me of the very first time I was sailing...it was the most magical thing I eve experienced.

I was an undergraduate at UT AUSTIN when this song, about sailing on nearby Lake Travis, was released and Cross, an alumni, became famous. I, too, had several adventures upon the lake with people I loved and am always reminded of those days and years when I hear this wonderful and peaceful piece of music.

I was at UT Austin also when this came out! I remember seeing him at the Frank Erwin Center in 1981 on this tour and he said the exact same thing you did, it was about sailing on Lake Travis. Seen him many times over the years, in 2016 at the Moody Theater with Michael McDonald, Eric Johnson, and Mike Love. And then again in 2018 at the Paramount Theater with Eric Johnson and Monte Montgomery.

This song is so much than sailing, it relates to so many more things. Sometimes we all go through stuff and we need to sail away, we need an escape. Close your eyes and this song will take you away, atleast it does me. One of my favorite songs!

I always associate this song to a time when I left home after HS and joined the Navy. It was one of those songs that would come on the radio when we had down time during some very intense training. I would dream of traveling the world knowing there was more to Navy life than just boot camp.

This song always takes me back to the early/mid 80’s, riding in the “way back” of my parents station wagon. The air outside was cold AF, but the song was a lullaby & got me asleep right quick.

I'm really late but I love this song too. It's a song that transports you through every good memory you've ever had. Then you're hit with this nostalgia. It's bitter sweet because you know can never go back to those times if that makes any sense. It's an angelic song, an endless cool breeze on a summer day. It'll still be timeless 50, 100 years from now.
