I don’t see any problem with someone hiring someone to do work you don’t want to. In fact the guy who does the work os probably happy he gets work out of that guys laziness. Plus this guy might enjoy doing his lawyering job and might not wanna come home to do something that takes up all his free time and would rather pay for someone to do it for him. I can see both perspectives, I’m an electrician and often people call me out to do things that aren’t hard at all just because they wanna relax that day, and personally that great for me because it’s easy money. Then on the other hand sometimes I’m at work making good money and I need a pipe fixed for example and yes I will hire someone to do it. The problem was the guys wording because honestly this is common practice. We hire pool guys to clean the pool, we go to fast food because it saves us time, we buy vegetables because we prefer to have someone do the gardening for us. A lot of things now and days are made to make like better for us, I know not everyone has the ability to do that but if you did I’m sure you would use that outlet. So yea, it was just the guys wording that set people off, if anyone thinks they are better than him look at your daily life and I’m sure there is a situation where you use someone’s job to make your life easier

Here’s a fun story: so my parents work in a pub, and were located by a river (we live in Fowey) so naturally there’s a lot of seagulls. This couple or whatever complain about the seagulls and refuse to pay, so we go to charge their card. Turns out they took all the money off of the card so we could charge them. Anyway, my parents are trying to sort it out and take it to a small claims court and all that stuff.
Honestly the first persons job is probably working at McDonalds, because obviously they don’t have enough mental energy to be considered competent in any other scenario

Unrelated but when i first know my friends, we talk about lots of thing like our good memories with our parents, one of my friend only smile when we talk about our dads, then when i know she had lost her father at such young age and never actually have memories with him i started apologizing and we never talk about parents especially dads again. This is why in every conversation i will always look other person mood. If they're quiet and seems have no interest talking abt it, i will stop talking and change the topic.
I used to clean houses. It was kinda split. Most of the time, the wife was not comfortable having a cleaner, but their husbands had shamed their homemaking. These were the houses I loved working because they were always already clean and i would still get paid the same as if the place were trashed. The other side was SAHMs who didn't want to focus on cleaning, just "parenting". But they didn't do much of that either. I quit those jobs fast because you don't want to find a dirty diaper shoved into a couch.
The last one seemed pretty reasonable, I think it was just a marital argument, not a logical one. I think that way sometimes as well, like if he could spend some time working overtime and make more money than he would need to spend on a cleaner, plus he enjoys his job more than he enjoys cleaning, then it would be worth it. I could understand it might feel a little weird at first having someone you don't know come into your house to clean or fix something. But I completely agree, there is nothing wrong with hiring a cleaner. If nobody ever needed hired help like cleaners then their jobs wouldn't exist in the first place. They are trained professionals that take on the jobs a lot of people don't want to put the effort into doing themselves. From his attitude towards the problem it sounds like he probably doesn't do much cleaning at home at all which would make sense with his job. So I think the wife was just trying to prove a point by making him clean at least one thing in the house. However it is not easy to get someone to change their usual routine especially if they don't like whatever the change is. He offered a fair compromise but could have worded it to his wife better, if he wants to spend money on a service he can afford without it having a negative impact on his family there really is no reason he shouldn't just pay for it if that is what he prefers.
