My family left Milton Keynes in 1989. Great to see these. Brings back memories of a better, simpler time. PS Glad you filmed The Point - it was great! 😊
I was 12 in 1992 living in MK. Later on I went to work at The Point in the cinema when I was late teen/early 20s. Loved it. It really does feel like another dimension looking back through a video like this. People walking around looking up for a start!! Now it’s all heads down on phones. Or arms up on phones filming. I remember hearing about the World Wide Web for the first time and what I imagined it was was absolutely nothing like it is 🤣 it’s the complete innocence of not knowing what was to come….Nostalgia is a doozy of an emotion!!!
Yep I know how that feels nostalgia - I worked in The Point in 1995 and like your self looking back things were different, it was like a whole different world was it better ? in some ways yeah.
I was told to limit how much TV I watched or how much time to spend on my computer but even if I hadn't and spent as much time as I could on then it still wouldn't match the average use for people on their phones these days.
@@TimeEmotion1971 yeah I think in some ways it was better - I was younger for a start 🤣 so hadn’t made as many mistakes yet 😅 I do think people were better off looking up and out at the world and each other rather than down at phones and inwards. But equally tech connects people and offers people opportunities they might not have had or to learn and seen things they might now have known about so for some people it vastly improved their ability to access others and the world….so swings and roundabouts I guess. But the organic human soul has been altered - and I don’t think that will ever be returned . I don’t think that is good or better.
@@lucylocketsthinkingpocket There are definitely good users for tech, especially mobile phones. Very handy features but I think the public at large hasn't yet found the sweet spot for using your phone when needed when out and about.
Yes, to be a white British person is very much a minority in this city these days. Spend 30 minutes at the shopping centre or Willen Lake and you'll see what I mean...
The old planters in the shopping centre were so much better - unlimited dad seating (waiting for mum to come out of the shop). The planting was actually well-designed and themed from tropical to desert biomes, and it lasted for decades.
The same as every other person in power did..and will continue to do so, in my lifetime... The banking cartels bidding Whatever it may be, at the time.. That is ALL they do
Blair? Online shopping has killed towns & cities. Everyone who has ever bought something by clicking a mouse has contributed. It is stretching things beyond belief to blame that on any politician.
I'd left MK by 1982 though I did visit in '92 - got a free 25 years baseball cap as I recall. McDonalds was new to me in 82, I think burgers were 49p which was quite expensive
I was living in mk back n days oldbrook and fishermead it was nice area i lost my two best friend's there for gangs violence than i moved to cardiff since the day i lost my friends i never join other gangs again i just focus the reality of live
Great video - thanks for sharing.
P.s. Great camera work.
Nice video. It feels like opening a time capsule from the past.
where did this country go?
@@christistruth3112in the bin :(
@@TimeEmotion1971 true and sad
Can we go back to these times now please
A magical time when kids were kids , adults were adults , innocence was everything , raves were flowing .
And like a click of the fingers where did it all go :(
A bit rose tinted.
Kids were still annoying and adults were still thieving, violent thugs.

What a brilliant video. Thank you so much.
It really brought back memories of when I first came to MK in 1984.
Thank you, keep up the good work 🥊👍👊

And of course the great replacement is a conspiracy. I moved to MK in '88 and have seen it 'enriched' beyond recognition. Now an absolute shithole.
