65 years of service. Where has this Tele been. USSR, Germany, UK, Australia, Alaska, Kentucky, West Virginia, Viet Nam? Just think of the people that were entertained by this thing. Millions maybe. The original owner may still be breathing or not. Given it's experiences it may be priceless. But, I have been wrong before.

You did this amazing '52 more than justice Mark, love to see a player digging real deep on a Telecaster, showing us what it can do. But, if I owned this I would get your tech to restore it back the original wiring/pickup switch set up. Why? Because this one's a rare original and you don't mess with the best. Get to love the semi muted tone at neck position, play some thumpin' bass, it was there for a reason. Hardened Buchannan fans will recognise the audible 'click' from the amp, enhanced with a little reverb when he switched from middle to bridge position, telling us he was about to make his '52 cry, scream, go places no one else knew. Changing the wiring losses the click. And the vibe. Keep it original, it's how it was meant to be. Peace&Love.
The solders already broken. Changing it back isn't helping to preserve anything

My wife asks what's so different about this Tele from the guitar I have out right now? (a Squier Classic Vibe tele) It's the same color and everything!

Don't underestimate the classic vibe tele - they're great guitars. Nothing you can't do with it than you can do with this...except keep it as a retirement investment :-)
I love my Classic Vibe. It's an amazing guitar. Only change I've made is strap locks and a Seymour Duncan Hot for Tele neck pickup (needed higher output rhythm playing). But those old Teles are just something else for twang.
Agreed Steven. I'd love a '60 like Robben Ford's. Until then, I'll stick with my FSR Tele and Greg Koch replacement pickups. The best thing about inexpensive guitars is that you have no fear of modifying them.
love my cv tele!! put a nocaster in the bridge and a classic 57 in neck. yes, they are routed for a humbucker
My wife refers to my guitars as "the red one", my 1961 Les Paul S.G, "the yellow one" , my 1952 Telecaster,, etc. What can you do but smile and play guitar?
