It is so nice to see a voice actor get a standing ovation. So much of their time is spent behind-the-scenes and hardly anyone knows who they are. And yet they bring so much entertainment to our lives. Bravo!!!! I cried when I watched this segment but at least both Josh and Craig have moved on to things they really enjoy doing.

Taylor G - I think you’re right. He got passed over for Colbert, when I think he expected to take over Letterman’s show, when he finally packed it in (about 10 years too late IMHO). I remember the last few episodes of TLLS it appeared Ferguson was really just going through the motions, to get it over with. Had he inherited TLS from DL I might still watch late night shows. But none of the current “big three” impress me very much. It is rare these days I tune in.

MoparManiac 96 Craig said in an interview recently that the show was completely controlled by David Letterman as part of his deal to go to CBS. Letterman had an extra hour following his show on CBS and the executives couldn’t tell Craig anything. CBS could complain to letterman, but they wouldn’t dare.
Craig knew that the weirdness of his humor was disagreeing with CBS. For some reason they don’t love puppets?! Letterman was happy, and Craig could experiment. So when Letterman left he left too. He wasn’t going to go crazy trying to fight an executive focus group.

@@ODiddy67 This makes sense, and explains a lot, and reveals kind of what we already knew about the soulless and boring bent of the corporate media. The late-night shows that have been on since Craig lack all individuality and wit and a sense of surprise. I'm not one of these boring twits who complain about late night now being "too political," either. The politics are largely beside the point. Anything can be pulled off successfully if you have a unique entertainer with a plethora of imagination, and none of that currently exists in late night.

Show was not underrated. Celebrities loved coming on the show because they knew they would be having an actual adult and fun conversation. Fans still love the show almost a decade after it left the air

JRT should seriously consider doing some radio announcing as he's got the smooth baritone voice just made for radio.
One of the most undervalued and underused talents in showbusiness. The run in TLLS was just legendary, the moment that sarcastic voice was forgotten and he was allowed to use his real voice (the voiceboard stuff ain't the real GP) , the jokes got so unbelievably good that it will always remain one of the best comedyshows on earth.
I don't think we'll ever see such a cool, in sync dynamic duo on late night television, ever again. That show was a goldmine for jokes and laughs.
He and Craig had chemistry that was second to none.
I can't tell you reading this how much joy these two humans have brought me. Josh, thanks for all you did on the show...In my little 'desk clerk type mind, you two are easily THE best comedy duo I have ever seen. And to think, almost all of it was spontaneous. You two are just brilliant.

Still remember I was WFH when this show ended. Greatest intro ever, and the saddest ending clip. Seeing that snowbowl with Goeff , Craig, and secretariat frozen involving the happiness, laughs, and the unhappiness of finalizing the show, just broke me and I got me crying. Really miss this show!!!
If I remember correctly even Craig got a bit emotional halfway through his monologue.

I honestly wish that Craig and Josh would get back together for another show following the late night formula, but on a streaming platform so they have more creative freedom and it doesn't cause them severe burn out like cable TV can. And instead of using Geoff, it could just actually be Josh as his sidekick like Andy Richter sitting next to the guests.
They could do specials where Geoff occasionally returns.

James Corden is a soft, high-estrogen and non-threatening fat-boy. The face of a post me-too era man. Craig Ferguson was becoming too dangerous to show the public, that real men still exist and that it's still possible to flirt with women. When I first saw this episode, I had no idea of who Thompson was, until who he said of who he was and what he did on the show. I'm also shocked he's from my hometown of Cleveland, OH.
But all aside, this show was my favorite late night show to watch on weeknights. It will never be the same. Great cast, funny humor. I miss this show so fucking much. End of story!!

The other night I fell asleep watching something random on youtube and woke up hearing Craig and Geoff banter back and forth. Yet, if it wasn't him, this show would eventually, become dull and very repetitive. Craig kept recycling his stuff, over and over again, while Josh had always something new to bring, so i do not think i agree with your comments. No offense.
Sadly, Josh wasn't much on screen. It's tv... Being just a voice impersonator, and not having his face or real name attached to every character he played on TLLS, is like hanging a poster on a radio station wall and saying "it's been exposed".

They delivered The best of times ever in L L NIGHT LAND on every show!
Craig and Geoff is one of those "You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain" situations that happened in the best way possible. Craig got Geoff to deconstruct and lampoon the Host/sidekick paradigm of late night shows. And they did initially. But once they gave Geoff a real voice and personality they became the thing they swore to destroy, and late night tv was the better for it.
And I am still waiting for their next show together, G. P. and the Fergs. With their tech savvy sidekick, Cat Damon.
