Taylor G - I think you’re right. He got passed over for Colbert, when I think he expected to take over Letterman’s show, when he finally packed it in (about 10 years too late IMHO). I remember the last few episodes of TLLS it appeared Ferguson was really just going through the motions, to get it over with. Had he inherited TLS from DL I might still watch late night shows. But none of the current “big three” impress me very much. It is rare these days I tune in.

One of the most undervalued and underused talents in showbusiness. The run in TLLS was just legendary, the moment that sarcastic voice was forgotten and he was allowed to use his real voice (the voiceboard stuff ain't the real GP) , the jokes got so unbelievably good that it will always remain one of the best comedyshows on earth.

Show was not underrated. Celebrities loved coming on the show because they knew they would be having an actual adult and fun conversation. Fans still love the show almost a decade after it left the air

Letterman had an extra hour following his show on CBS and the executives couldn’t tell Craig anything. CBS could complain to letterman, but they wouldn’t dare. Craig knew that the weirdness of his humor was disagreeing with CBS. For some reason they don’t love puppets?! Letterman was happy, and Craig could experiment. So when Letterman left he left too. He wasn’t going to go crazy trying to fight an executive focus group.

Hands down the best late night talk show. So quirky with a super strong cult following. Craig was the smoothest interviewer and Craig and Geoff were the BEST together.
James Corden is a soft, high-estrogen and non-threatening fat-boy. The face of a post me-too era man. Craig Ferguson was becoming too dangerous to show the public, that real men still exist and that it's still possible to flirt with women. You have to hide people like that away now in this hyper-puritanical age.
I honestly wish that Craig and Josh would get back together for another show following the late night formula, but on a streaming platform so they have more creative freedom and it doesn't cause them severe burn out like cable TV can. And instead of using Geoff, it could just actually be Josh as his sidekick like Andy Richter sitting next to the guests. They could do specials where Geoff occasionally returns.

When I first saw this episode, I had no idea of who Thompson was, until who he said of who he was and what he did on the show. I'm also shocked he's from my hometown of Cleveland, OH. +tOny D For the opportunity and exposure Craig gave Josh by letting him do this show, Josh should be sending Craig to an all-expenses paid dinner at a restaurant...LOL I'm kidding for the most part. Josh is very talented but he really did get alot of free exposure and celebrity by doing this show.
Yet, if it wasn't him, this show would eventually, become dull and very repetitive. Craig kept recycling his stuff, over and over again, while Josh had always something new to bring, so i do not think i agree with your comments. No offense.
Sadly, Josh wasn't much on screen. It's tv... Being just a voice impersonator, and not having his face or real name attached to every character he played on TLLS, is like hanging a poster on a radio station wall and saying "it's been exposed".

1:43 When he says "My mother is here tonight. Yes", I could hear a little bit of Geoff's there if he amplifies it a little more. It's strange hearing it from someone else and then all you get is a lifeless robot. Which makes him the real Geoff Peterson.
He is lovely and his voice is the definition for 'silken'♥️ I hope he got a lot of other jobs after this, even though I guess none could have been as fun as being Jeoff Peterson😭
