There are a few reasons the set can split a part. The most obvious is being able to move the set and stability during movement. The base would be too fragile if you had to move it around if it was just 1 base.
I think LEGO did some ostracism against that 2006 Vikings line you talked about, as you can't find 7018 on their website anymore. I used to own that set (probably still do somewhere), I remember it being one of the best I'd ever played with. I wouldn't know why LEGO would just erase it from history like that, maybe some controversy or something, as they ended up 'rebooting' it in 2022.
I think this one looks better than the 10320 Eldorado Fortress. That one surely brings a lot of nostalgia, but the overall style is quite old due to it being a remake of the 1989 set. The whole thing just feels very 1989 which is not necessarily a bad thing. This one, however, uses a lot of new parts and new building techniques with a much better color scheme. Also it’s cheaper. So I will choose this over the 10320. :)
For the price, I am not shocked at all at the number of mini-figures. Yes, it would be nice to have more figures, but then the price would be likely $150-$200, which is more in line with what I thought this set was going to cost when I saw the piece count. I'm thrilled that it's only $130, and I'll just buy some extra vikings from Bricklink, plus I plan to get a couple of this set and I have a couple of the 3-in-1 sets, so I will have plenty of vikings at the end of the day. If this had been a $200 set, I likely would have only gotten one.
I'm glad you said you feel like something is missing, and can't put your finger on, because I feel the same way. I loved the Vikings line, and have been looking forward to this one. But after the reveal it seems a little lackluster. Probably still picking it up, though.
While this is a very nice set, lego is going overboard with their redesigns of these Ideas sets! I honestly like the original fan design better….same with the Jazz Quartet, the A Frame Cabin, and the forthcoming Insects set.
The water, roofs, and trees are too simple compared to the complexity of the walls of the buildings and the rock work which makes the whole set feel disconnected.
finally, lego skyrim!

I think this set is absolutely amazing!!! I also think the price is really good,I thought for sure this would be at least $200.
The varying heights of the buildings adds depth
The hammer has B and H reference to the designer BrickHammer.
I also think even a small fishing boat would make sense since the village is completely surrounded by water
This year has been really good for Lego Ideas.
They use the happy Santa face for a viking, yet Santa himself is always getting an angry face
Headbands were wildly popular during the original Ninja (castle) line
I think this set is a great value. Personally, I plan to buy two and scale up the buildings.

What it needs is the Viking Ship set 31132 next to it.
Sure. A dock with no boats isn't especially interesting.
Just came to say exactly this, the Viking Ship is retiring this year also, so get it while you can
Keep up the good work man. You work hard at what you do.
This hopefully will pair well with the creator viking ship
Are you kidding? $130 is super reasonable compared to Lego’s current pricing strategy
Yes. Make that long house BIGGER!

Wish there were Lego Viking villages based on the How to Train Your Dragon film
Really nice set! Hoping to get it soon!

its a long boat that is missing.... maybe 2 chickens and a civilian pose
I feel like a fishing boat and a bigger main hall would have made this set next level, I still will be buying though.
This guys setup is like a lego hoarders story. It's too busy, holy cow gimme a headache trying to see anything
For the golden dragon armor piece, did you mean to say they were from crystallized instead of dragons rising?
*If I Had a Heart plays in the background*
Ah yes, the famous polish vikings 😂
In France there is an exclusivity for the FNAC stores.
They are preselling for only 117€ instead of 140€ (Thats 0.055 euros pp)
bro, 1 earthquake and this man's house is coming down.
is this set good for investment? I would try to combine this set with Medival castle 31120 :)
Feels weird hearing "original" and "classic" used to describe something from 2006
I know right, 2006 feels like only a few years ago
Gone are the days where you get 20 Vikings in a set, but now days we can get 20 or 200 Vikings from pab.
I thought that he wasn't in LAN anymore, wth is up with that?
I’m on a six month probation, but this and a couple other sets were sent out before that
I thought you wouldn't be getting more sets for early review? Did you get it before the braille mix up?
He was sent this set before that.
i plan to get this one and also the 3-1 Viking ship w/ serpent
16:56, minor error, the're from Crystalized not dragons Rising 😅
does this goes well with the medieval blacksmith set?
Was that the ww1 sopwith camel in the opening first seconds? Such a cool set
Seems that our Certified Lego store won't be getting this set. A bit disappointed.
No goat, no purchase lol.
When does it release?

Is it just me, or do LEGO bricks seem to have declined in their clutch power within recent years starting from 2021?
Ugh, why did they give them horns...
Way to feed the stereotype Lego...
Other than that, it looks good.
