I am wondering when he'll get to Big Push stuff.
I love the way Chinchilla is able to move through her registers so easily. It isn't easy to go from a mixed chest to mixed to head voice. Especially when she flips from her mixed to her head voice and she's around E5 or F5. I'm not exactly sure on the pitch at that point. And she's a beast with her belts. Her dynamics are always so on point and convey a ton of emotion. Though the beginning of the song is technically below her singing range, she still supports the lowest notes enough that she can be heard blending in a range where Ren and most male vocalists are comfortable. I just can't get enough of either of these two.
I truly believe that Ren will be remembered as the artist who broke the rules of songwriting and also wrote lyrics and invented beats that worked across all genres. Will he be as big as people like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Eminem, 2Pac, Snoop Dog etc? I really don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he reached the same dizzying heights as any or all of those mentioned. He is a force of nature who has overcome some terrible traumas in his life and deserves to be recognised as a true phenomenon in the music/art arena.

This is the best duet I've ever heard. Raw & real. The emotion in this performance never fails to move me.
I should have realized it before listening to this song, but it evokes a lot of imagery from the film "What Dreams May Come," with Robin Williams. Tropes such as love, loss, suic*de, the search for self, etc. I think anyone who is moved by Ren's music might find a profound connection with the film. And it's as visually stunning as Ren's songs are audibly so. Awesome reaction, Knox.

The synergy between Ren and Chinchilla is stunning. It's amazing how an artist with such specific vision as Ren has works so amazingly well with others; Trick The Fox, The Big Push, Sam Tomkins, Bibi, Eden Nash, Samuel Perry-Falvey and now reactors like Knox and The Wolf Johnson as well as several other artists.
The way they harmonize, their voices dancing around and through each other, is so intense. Their combination leaves me beautifully haunted.
Dude… your breakdown/analysis skills are amazing. You should be teaching a class on this sort of thing in a university. Always blown away by your reactions/breakdowns.
This is such a powerful duet. I think this one may be more powerful than Chalk Outlines. There was so much emotion in this performance. It is truely a joy to watch people living with passion and sharing their gifts. Thank you for the reaction and the breakdown for some of the poetry. The music speaks to me, lyrics on the otherhand elude my sometimes. I appreciate someone pointing out these meanings for me, then the music I can feel makes sense with the story I hear.

Great reaction! The way this felt to me was Ren was singing this song from his friend Joe perspective and how he thinks Joe was feeling leading up to that horrible night, then at the end Ren switched to first person. That’s what makes Ren music so great there are so many ways it is perceived and all are perfect!
Agreed. The whole song makes much more sense from Joe's perspective. Only the last almost spoken part is from Ren's point of view, when he says that his friend gave up the fight, that same fight described all along in the song.

This is such a beautiful and haunting piece, one of my favorite Ren songs if I dare say that. To me, it’s such an accurate depiction of depersonalization/derealization. The pain and trauma that it takes to get to a place where you feel that it can’t be real, this must be a sick joke, etc is immense and hard to describe. Ren brings you into this so well. I forgot how to be me when I was at my very sickest and to see someone else thriving and bringing a voice to lesser talked about issues that some of us face is so validating and refreshing.
Seeing these teasers with Ren...wow! Did not know you were going to the UK to see Ren. When I saw the first photo of you Wolf and Ren it totally blew me away. Great reaction to 'How to Be Me'. Their voices together are powerful.
This is hauntingly beautiful ❤ The intensity of the connection between Ren and Chinchilla is incredible. You should also check out “Crutch ft Bibi.” It’s an older song written before he found out why he was so sick. Both the song and video are stunning.

I'm shocked that you hadn't reacted to this sooner love hearing your breakdowns and so unedited and in the moment of hearing things.
Absolutely haunting. And no, it wasnt filmed on "the bridge".
after listening to this songs on almost a daily basis since it came out, I've started to interpret it as a conversation between Ren and Joe, with Ren representing himself and Chinchilla representing the ghost of Joe, if you look at it this way, a lot of the lines can be interpreted in 2 different ways, from the 2 different perspectives sometimes one of them more literal than the other (the most obvious one being "I can't breathe").
this could theory could be further supported by the singing in this song, being best described by the word "haunting", as you yourself described it as such in the video, further possibly suggesting leaning into this dialogue with someone's ghost.
Also the fact that Ren sings this final verse alone, which is the only verse that could only be interpreted from Ren's perspective would also further support this interpretation (though this could also just be because it is more beautiful to end the song with a single voice, or since those lines in particular are so deeply personal for Ren that he chose to sing them alone)
again, not saying any of it is like this necessarily, I just started interpreting it like this personally.
Man, I love the way you react. But I feel really bad that I haven't gone and listen to your own music yet. Right now I'm just obsessed with Ren's art bc it's healing me. Yes, the Blind Eyed official music video came first, and has the most interesting production. The live outdoor busking version is full of talent and enthusiasm. The live indoor MC sessions, on the Music Crowns channel, is the best overall performance, in my opinion, and the one I keep coming back to when I'm in the mood to hear this song again. But Blind Eyed ft. Angry Car Park Attendant is absolutely the most fun, and is NOT to be missed! Pick any two for a great twofer video, or go wild and do all four!

My favourite thing about this song is how it can recontextualize itself in the last line.
My first interpretation was it was a person struggling with depression, with wanting to end it.
Every time after that it was a song about grief and guilt.

How, How does Ren do this. About a month ago I was suffering and hurting and I had made up my mind to unalive myself. I sat there coming to terms and deciding how I was going to do it. This very song came on and drew me in wmd seeing and hearing the pain in Ren stopped me and made me realize how much more pain I would create if I went through with it.
Then this morning I've been REALLY struggling and again was contemplating ending MY pain and leaving an apology note because of how much pain I would create. Then I get a notification and look down and see this video. It was like a message reminding me of that night and how I felt when I realized what kind of pain I would cause others if I went through with it. In a way it makes me angry. I want to be selfish and not have to think about others. I'm in so much pain, both physical and mental. . . It seems that all I can feel is pain. In my darkness it seems as if my friends and loved ones are standing in my way. Relief is in sight, I just can't reach for it.
Please stay. Part of what I get from Ren's music is that while there is pain, even large amounts of it for literally years...there is also possibility. I don't think that even a year ago Ren could see that he'd be where he is now. The future is uncertain, give it a chance to surprise you. Please...

But how long can I keep going when I wake up with pain, when I need drugs to numb me so I can get through my day, when I go to bed and lie there alone with my pain until, if I'm lucky, I finally dose off just to repeat the cycle the next day, or many nights I just lie there in pain and listen to the quite hours tick bye until it time to get up.
Thank you for caring enough to take the time to comment. I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful. I'm not, it really does mean something to me that someone would care. For context I had a rollover accident and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, and a compression Fracture of T8 in my back.
I'm trying to believe that things will get better. I'm trying to hope that once my compression fracture in my back heals things will change. But then I stop and think about my TBI and try and remember what the doctor said about my future. I will need to find a different job, I will never handle stress well, I'm never going to be the same and I will need to learn a new normal and that's scary to me.

@@redangel169I am trying. From childhood I've struggled to visualize the future. I could never answer the question of "what do you want to be when you grow up." I understand the future brings possibilities, but I can't picture it. I can't see a goal to work towards. I can only see a fraction of what is going on around me, and a past that has been filled with physically unexplainable pain. Now with a brain injury it's even harder to picture any type of a positive future.
