I’m heading to Manitoba next May for a bear hunt.
What do you use for repellent?
No mosquito till mid May usually or on a dry year there way less.
We use no repellent when hunting trophy bears

they're just attracted to food. If there's a load of seed lying there they'll eat it.

How do you not lose as much blood as those bears with all those mosquitoes around? There’s no way I could hunt in those conditions.
Big bears and mosquitos go together.
It is exactly the same in Alaska and worst once you have a bear down
The shooting angle from the tree stand is just absolute perfect to drop the hammer on those bear getting the vital organs hit.
From the tree stand the shooter has allot more options where to shoot the bears.
The 45 degrees down shot is a killer on bears I found when hunting over bait.
Even my AR 15 chambered in 6mmx45 loaded with 80 grain Barns TSX shooting bears from a tree stand I get far better faster kills than from ground level shots.

14:43 Is a truly unique kill. Your bullet must have gone straight through the bear's spine and killed it instantly. It did not move an inch.
can you explain how it works? I don’t get how the darts kill the bears unless it’s just tranquilizers? What type of ammunition or bullets are they using?

I hunt pigs over corn all the time so I get the baiting part... but guns at 20 yards? Seems like an obvious archery shot... why be so close. You could be 100 yards back no problem right?
Well, no loss for bullet energy at that range.
Freaking bullets may have the same energy hitting the bear as the bullets had when left the barrel.
I own allot of large magnum rifles but one rifle that took me 8 years in search of parts to make the whole gun is a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem I would like to try exactly this kind of bear hunt on.
I load 200 grain Barns TSX bullets for the 35 Rem then put one of these in the chamber and the round noise in the tube magazine.

sorry but not for me, I'm for hunting but more of the stalking variety, just don't sit right hiding at a food trap and shooting a hungry animal ok for rats and pests but not such a grand animal stalk the beastie, pit your skill against theirs

Every method is good and unique the problem here is we’re in bush country that spot and stalk is impossible this is all thick bush flat land cedar swamp.
