    A classic medley from a truely classic Rock and Roll band. This album was the Beatles return to their roots... and what a tree they grew from those roots!

  • @MrMot611
    @MrMot611 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In my opinion the best 15 minutes of music in the Beatles history. It all came together here. Even Ringo's one and only drum solo. And in the end . . .

    Goosebumps with "the end" as the last song recorded... and then the little "gift" for the Queen :)
    Thanks for sharing.

    It can't get any better as far as medleys go... Tremendous piece of music. There is no other band that dismantled at the height of creativity and musical excellence. Yes, the Beatles were different from others in that too.

      True, but debatable. Just listen to so,e of the stuff that Pink Floyd has made

    • @mistercheez
      @mistercheez 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tommy Knowles Agreed, I'd say Pink Floyd surpassed them musically and creatively, but nobody will ever surpass the Beatles in terms of influence.

      I love Pink Floyd too, in fact I adore them. But what I really wrote was that there is no other band in history, which disbanded at such a height in their creativity and musical excellence. When Pink Floyd finally called it quits (back in 1994) they were hardly in their prime :)

    • @mistercheez
      @mistercheez 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gioma771 Hard to define what Pink Floyd's prime was! I wouldn't say the Beatles were in their prime when they broke up though, the Get Back sessions were disastrous and they were all at each others throats. I'd say they were in their prime in 66/67, Revolver and Sgt. Peppers were absolutely outstanding albums.

    • @Gioma771
      @Gioma771 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mistercheez
      It's a matter of taste, Get Back sessions resulted in a (maybe) poorly produced, but still brilliant Let It Be album. And the Abbey Road sessions (and the resulting Abbey Road album - the last sessions and album recorded by the Beatles themselves) were truly an acme of the Beatles' anthology (in my opinion).
      For me Abbey Road is the BEST Beatles album hands down, despite the fact that many believe Sgt. Pepper was the best album.
      As for Pink Floyd, their prime years were 1972-1979. The Final Cut was good in itself, but still a step back after the Wall and after Waters' departure Pink Floyd were never the same, - all of this is of course my personal opinion and nothing else.

      Tim Rodd You may be right, and that's say a lot considering how rich the entire Beatles catalog is. "Abbey Road" is the best Beatles album in my opinion, although "Revolver" is extremely good. The medley conclusion of "Abbey Road" show so much ability and capability of four great musicians.

    This is probably the greatest rock medley ever. Paul tried to duplicate them with Wings but he could never come close to this nor could you expect him. What this group did in their short period of time is still mind boggling to me. I am now 55 and convinced there will never be another supergroup.

    Abbey Road is the Beatles' Project to show to the world: these are we. There is a whole sequence of songs and verses showing what they wanted and were not what the world expected of them. Fab!

    Ugh man so sad what today's music has become. No soul spirit or divine connection anymore. Just cars women money the end what a hollow existence to live. Man I hope the world wakes up one day and just thinks to themselves what are we doing here why are we going the direction we are. This music is just irreplaceable uncanny and masterful work I salute you beatles and all who appreciate this masterpiece. Peace be with all of you.

    I guess you had to be there. For all those who do not understand the Beatles contributions to music...you didn't hear them for the first time, at the time. There was NOTHING like it preceding them. Innovative is an understatement. So much of their music has been incorporated into all the many bands that followed them. I hear their influence everywhere. So, if you like any music at all, most of what you're hearing is Beatles influenced.

    In speaking of the Abbey Road LP, s
    upposedly, the last recording ever made by all 4 of the Beatles at the same sitting were the words, "1 2 3 4 5 6 7, all good children go to heaven." I kind of wish it was "and in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you make." but according to Geoff Emerick and George Martin,, it was actually, "1,2,3,4,5,6,7, all good children go to heaven!" I absolutely love near the end when all of them take turns playing their own riff knowing it was their last LP. They seemed so happy at this time. I don't know if the were prophets like some people try to make them out to be but even the youngest of people have heard of or know a Beatles song. They are and will never be equaled or matched.
    ( My personal opinion is that this is the greatest album, written and recorded by the greatest band, in the history of recorded music).
    I do not think any other Band or individual can come anywhere even close to what The Beatles accomplished in the relatively short time of 10 years. They paid their dues in Hamburg with the 10,000 hours of tightening up and becoming a professional band who still sells over 30 million a year. Think about that for a second. Some bands will not make that much in their whole careers, Shows just how powerful they are and always will be.
    They paid with their nerves, while we enjoyed with our ears.
    I want to personally want to thank them for making the music of not just my generation, but of all the ones yet to come.
    BTW, John Lennon was right when he said they were more popular than Jesus. He was just saying that the kids were more into them than they were to Jesus Christ, he was not putting down religion or anything similar. He just said what he said, it was taken out of context, and some people took it and ran with it. Those same people 1-2 months later were out purchasing the same LP's the burned. Look it up. True story.
    I apologize for this long post, but I felt I had to say what needed to be said.
    jk

    Side 2 is probably the greatest single piece of music in rock history. Features all four musicians at the height of their powers. George Martin was right when he said the Beatles were of their time. What he should have added was that they were timeless, too. Nearly a half century later, they proved they could compose classical music. And yeah, what way to go out.

    I was blessed with seeing Ringo at the Greek Theatre......
    And Paul at Dodger Stadium in 2014 and had a GREAT TIME..
    I miss John and George like crazy but watch and listen to them on TH-cam all the time.
    Hey checkout the Rockabye baby lullaby renditions to the Beatles here on TH-cam. Golden Slumbers is my favorite but they should redo it with the BEATLE BOYS singing because the lyrics say it too
    Sleep pretty darling, do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby........

    At first, John was adamantly opposed to a medley. He came around when McCartney encouraged him to write a few songs for the project. "The End" was recorded live and in one take. At the completion, they were all beaming. Perhaps it brought them back to their youth.

    Most overrated work of the Beatles and one of the most overrated fragments of albums of all time. It just doesnt keep the magic that all of the Beatles' compositions have. It sounds so vulgar and mediocre to my ears, when i first listened to their discography i havent heard anybody talking about this album so it's not like i was having prejudices, it has always sounds like that to me. And i still can't understand why people likes it, i think a lot of you all should try to hear it as a piece of music and not like a bunch of songs of the beatles like it means they gotta be masterpieces just for that. Guess the people who read this comment will not share my opinion because if u're hearing this, you'd probably like it, but this are just my thoughs

      David Mitchell For me, any other beatle album comes close to this medley and overpasses it for far too long

      Luis Fernández López Wow, you are entitled to your opinion, to each his own taste, but man, I am so sorry you can't appreciate this piece of work like I do, it is truly a gem, in my opinion, sorry for your loss.
