The reason some furries are afraid to show that they are a furry is that the other "normal" people think we rape animals, and oh we're weird for wearing a fursuit or drawing porn of our characters, well, most of us furries hate that and they are the weird ones for thinking we are like that, guys, be yourself

The automatic assumption that being a furry is a sexual thing just drives me freaking crazy! My daughter has a speech disorder and feels like an outcast sometimes because despite weekly sessions of speech therapy she doesn't sound like most other people so she has the desire to get a fursuit so that she can blend in and just be like everyone else in the room. There's no hidden sexual agenda there at all and my wife and I are supportive of the idea and we are giving her the opportunity to work with me and earn at least a portion of the money required to buy her own fursuit. I can't tell you how strange it was as her blue collar heterosexual father to take her to Anthrocon, the initial shock she had to hear me say I would take her made me wonder what I was getting myself in to, but we made friends with other families there and I actually had a good time despite the crossdressers and other miscellaneous characters blowing my mind. I'm just a little confused what a dude with facial hair wearing a dress has to do with anthropomorphic animals but I tried not to make a big deal out of it as I discussed it with my wife on the phone and my daughter looked at me and said "Dad what are you talking about?, I didn't see it." We had front row seats at the panel with Majira Strawberry and friends and everyone we met was so, so, so nice! We are making plans to go next year and perhaps 1 or 2 other cons. Sorry this was so long, I love your work and hope to find something at least half as nice for my daughter.

Im glad you were there for your daughter and got her something extremely expensive, just to make her happy! I rarely see anyone this kind on youtube anymore, so its nice to find someone at last!
I honestly think that it's great that you are able to support your daughter and make her happy. I know a lot of people who's parents don't like the fact that they are furries, which includes my dad (my mom thinks it's fine though). I hope your daughter will someday be able to get a suit!

Idk why people think it's THAT weird, one of the main human ice breaking questions is "what kind of animal would you be". People put on costumes and makeup for movies. It's escapism. There's something about being a different version of yourself, or not even being yourself for a bit. Halloween as well. It's fun to be someone else for a bit. Im not a furry, but I could see myself as being one if I were creative enough and had more money haha.

Cons are fun. Every space has it's weirdos. I've gone to anime cons for years and years...and I honestly think furry conventions are more fun. It's a fucking trip when the 7 foot tall suits walk past.
Tip, Find a foam pad at fred meyer for 20$. Buy a turkey cutter for 15$ or less. Carve that foam! Honestly, first suits can look a little ..unique...BUT the community is fucking nice and seeing that somebody was even willing to try is a win. Everybody that attends KNOWS that suit makes gotta start somewhere. Good luck. I'd like to encourage you to buy a day pass to a con sometime. If you don't enjoy it you can always still meander the merchants hall or find the gaming area and check out a console and game. ^_^

I really don't understand the hatred towards furries. We get it, it's weird. But it's just a fascination for anthropomorphic animals. We don't rape animals, and not every single one of us draws porn of our characters.
It's weird. There's a shit ton of Drama inside the fandom, usually due to people with mental disabilities being put in a position of power. (Eg moderators/Administration) People do 'Cringy' things all the time. There's a fuck ton of porn if you search any furry art site without the SFW filter, which some people can be extremely triggered by. (Case example 'So sorry' from undertale). There's the otherkin/therians too who are often grouped in as Furries. Many find fursuits creepy. There is also a pretty loud but small minority of furries who advocate bestiality and think that it should be okay on the grounds that animals can consent. The very popular Rainfurrest video. I could go on, but you get the picture.

I'm not a furry, but I've started watching a lot of videos about furries because the art and how you make the suits are so interesting! You shouldn't be afraid to stand up for yourself or your community, and I love the way so many people express themselves online!

Oh? Sexualized images of art created by professionals of anthropomorphic characters are unacceptable, but actual footage of real people having sex with each other is okay? I'm going to clear a few things:
Everything, can be sexualized. Everything. Just take a look at Google. No, it's not a fetish. How I seem to see it… Fetishes are sexual only things, and the fandom being so large of a group it's impossible and almost always incorrect to be able to assume something about every single one.Not every furry has a suit, take myself as a example. Meaning not every fur suit can have sexual interaction to each other in their suit if they have not one. Furries are people who like anthropomorphic characters. Talking animals, two legged fauna, and animals who do both remain a example. Note sexual interaction is not in that list and never will be. Many people of young age are in this fandom, which of whom do not even know what sex is or don't fully understand it. If you're upset at the fact we treat being a furry as if a sexuality is because of the fear of the many people whom threaten to gas, light on fire, or harm them for liking a fox on two legs. Only a small part of the furry fandom would sexualize suits, take example of looking through the images in searching "fur suit" and finding little to no of what is called "Murr suits" unless searching it specially. No, we don't all sexualize each other with the suits. Unless specially designed and built to do so, reproductive organs are unable to be accessed due to the suit blocking it. We aren't a group of zoophilic people ( I believe that's the correct term, tell me if I'm wrong.) because again, unable to assume everyone at once like mentioned. We aren't pedophiles because we come near juvenile humans for reasons of a kid-friendly entertainment.
If you wish to argue with thus, do provide proof to back up your case.

Heres basically just a smaller/better written summary, yes i am a furry, not addicted to be a furry though. I only like drawing animals and making alive, currently i have 2 suits, A half suit and a small partial. Money was raised by me and no, I will not be buying such expensive suits when i can help on "important" things, I have to be doing school and other things. If anyone really wants to get a fursuit for so much go right ahead it's your money, i can't do anything about that. It still sucks A LOT that people still see furries as sex toys/items since yes okay fine 2% of this entire fandom may use it for that reason but that still doesn't mean that the other 98% will? Furries have this negative stereotype towards them. I met someone who was a furry back when I didn't know what that meant. I thought it was weird but it made the person happy, not to mention they weren't hurting anybody. So I didn't mind it. I feel people should have that mindset.
If someone is doing something that makes them happy and doesn't hurt themselves or anyone else, let them be who they are.

I'd love to have a furry suit. But my mom is a hater and thinks they are stupid so my dreams kinda got crushed from there o_o
Wait until you're an adult so that you can use your own money. If you're still under 18 and/or depending on your parents for food, housing, etc., it's their decision to fund your furry-ness or not.
I'd recommend saving up and getting a job and putting a little bit of money away each month so that eventually you have enough money to commission one, buy a premade one, or make your own. Remember: Fursuits are an art, and by definition, a luxury.
If you're feeling too low and down about not having a fursuit, just think about what makes a furry... Well, a furry. You sure as hell aren't required to own a fursuit, or even a tail/paws/ears etc, to be a furry, anyone can be who they want to be. Even a furry. Being a furry is about community, (and yes, a lot of fursonas and suits).
However, don't take this as me trying to discourage you from purchasing a fursuit, it's just a good idea to save up for it yourself and do your research on what maker you want it from.

The fandom is not and has never been about sex. This is just what trolls, sensationalists, and massively ill-informed people say.
The fandom is about the common interest in anthropomorphic creatures. Though that definition will change from person to person, that is the basis of what the fandom is.
However, that isn't to say that the fandom doesn't have a sexual aspect, because it does. But it is very important to understand that this is just a small part of the fandom, and not the fandom as a whole.
It is a part of nearly every fandom, and nearly every group and subculture. There are some furs who may have sex in their fursuits. Just as if you were to go to the anime fandom, you will find a sexual aspect there, and there are some people who will have sex in their cosplay costumes. Just as if you go to the heavy metal fandom... etc.
That is nothing at all to be ashamed of. People who engage in sex in their respective fandom are not bad people, nor should they be hidden away from the world as though they are. They are people just like you and me who happen to engage in a different part of the collective interest.
They do something that you or I may not do, but that doesn't make them any less (or more) of a good or bad person. There are furs who do not wish to own fursuits, or go to cons, or go to meetups, or buy commissions, etc. That doesn't make them any less of or any better of a person than those who do.
The people that should be ashamed are those people that look down on and seriously try to stifle people for being, or at least trying to be themselves. Whoever or whatever that person is that you wish to be.
Individuality is a glorious thing to behold, not something to point and laugh at and attack because you have none and it makes you feel more "normal". Whatever normal is supposed to be.
Not to mention those fools who can't take 5 minutes or less to educate themselves, and instead continue to spout the same crud as though they are experts in whatever they are rambling about. If you can't take even 5 minutes (or less!) out of your entire life to understand that what you're saying is nonsense, then you shouldn't spend any amount of time criticizing or trying to "educate" others about it.
But, this is the internet. That will happen all the time regardless. Probably in the recommended videos section with an entire TV show or TH-camr dedicating their time to spouting nonsense. Probably right below or above this comment...

Zexidous there are some people out there that actually have a sexual embrace on Furies and think they are sexy or cute and some people that thing sexually about furries use them for sex.
Zexidous actually, there was a point in time where furries were all about sex. If you dig a little, you will see the first furry convention ever held was confurence. Only 2 suiters showed up and one had on latex. Most of the confurences after that was just a sex filled convention. Don't get me wrong, furries have changed A LOT and the sexual side isn't prominent anymore
I just got my first commissions for my suits and I'm so overwhelmed. Three people came out of no where and were like hey make me a suit and the only reason I said yes to all three at once was because I desperately need the money XD

I looked at some prices and I think you should buy a head base and put fur on it yourself because it is a lot cheaper, I'm waiting until I'm 18 for a full suit so there is no chance of me growing out of it. Honestly, I've found furries strange to me due to the fact furries have been shown to me as, "bad". I made a friend who was a furry, and I realized there's really no difference. It's no different from being human, like, it's just a costume. It's a human inside wanting to be themselves.

Personally I think it's kind of cute when suiters who have suits by the same maker gather together for group pictures. Like if I got into making suits and I made hundreds of them I would very much appreciate an annual postcard from the receivers and commissioners of my work. I would like to know those suits are still out there being cared for, being brushed, treated with love.

That really is the long and short of it, fans of anthropomorphic animals. Just like any other fandom you have those who just like to watch and get artwork, and those who like to create through drawing/painting/digital art, costumes, performances, etc. Not everyone fursuits (that takes money and physical stamina...it's over 100 degrees in those suits) and not everyone has their own fursona, but all are just as welcome.

Fur suiting should really be appreciated as an art. They look super hard to make. I'm not a furry, but say I make a really cool hoodie from scratch, of course I'm wearing it 24/7 i'm proud that I put effort into it and the final results.
