  • Today, Ian and Mikey test the new Beverly Golf Ball. A four-piece premium ball that's coming in at $69 USD.
Does the LA Golf Ball justify the higher price point versus the ProV1?

Absolutely agree, that seemed an odd comment. I've always bought "mint/near mint" balls online and found that they perform perfectly for my needs. But have never done a launch monitor test on them, so would be interested to see why I should "NEVER BUY THEM"

@@adrosjp as he said you buy them for the savings. There will ALWAYS be a performance difference of some kind with a ball that has been used for a while, even the one you've played with for 5 rounds. The point is whether .5mph ball speed or something miniscule like that matters enough to save the money. For most its a fine trade off, others who don't need to save money, should always buy new because they're better, even by the tiniest amount.

Didn’t Shields do a buy used video, where he cut open all balls from the box and found different core colors indicating, that they were from different generations ProV1s? That’s definitely one reason to not by used. You might get different generations from the ball you want to play playing vastly different from each other. Imagine a batch with mixed generations Callaway Chrome Softs. Those changed so much over the last years.

@@adrosjp I would love to see a comparison too just because the 4A balls are usually in the condition of being played for a couple holes. So by what they are saying, you should be pulling a new ball out of the bag every couple holes? I more so understand them saying not to buy the refurbished balls because you don't know if someone re painted a top flite and put the pro V1 logo on it.

I think a LostGolfBalls roundup would be a great video!
New ProV vs "Mint" vs "refurbished" vs "4A" vs "3A"
Another great idea would be "Used refurbished ProV1 vs New budget ball"
I used to use 4A used balls, and while generally they performed well, they really lack consistency. Now I use new Srixon Z Star's since they do everything I need, and you can get a decent price when buying in bulk.

They would never do a video using 4As, it would be too far below their "standards", but if they were really trying to find the truth or prove a point they would test them. The worse that could happen is they'd be wrong and they'd have to change their opinion on camera.

My take on LA Golf is that they make products for their influencers and those who have a healthy amount if money to play with. It's not wrong of them to do so, but it's not like these are products for the average consumer. $805 USD for their shafts (pricing out 4 - PW), putter shafts are $400+, and their putters are $500+ (more than Scotty, Bettinardi, Toulon, etc).

Id love to see a full comparison of a nitro (cheapest ball) $.62 a ball usd, kirkland signiture ball (mid level) $1.70 per ball usd, and a pro v1 ( premium ball ) $4.50 per ball usd. With numbers for driver, 5iron, 52° wedge. Maybe add different handicap golfers, or swing speeds. Like a 115mph club head to 90mph. To see is it really worth the money to performance. ( first video) Then play the same 2 holes with each ball. A par 3 and a par 5 compare score, workability, and whatever other differences you see. (2nd video)

Another great video from you all. Interesting comparison. LA Golf ball performs with irons like it is a lower compression ball, which is typically what you see (jump in iron distance, but a loss with driver). Spin numbers are good though. Very niche ball but could be a good fit for the right golfer, much like an AVX is.

For me bottom line at some point becomes cost vs. performance, a few yards of difference overall does not justify a $15 extra cost for a dozen balls. I'm not that great but did have a ball fitting done about a year ago (16hdcp) and the ball that overall worked best for me was the Bridgestone Tour BX followed by the Chrome Soft X LS. Just show each golfer is overall different from one another and needs that is best suited for their game.

I have a GC3 launch monitor. Tested Prov1, Prov1x, Wilson Triad, Bridgestone Tour BXS and BRX, Vice Pro and TM Tour Response with a 3 year old 54 Cleveland wedge (~55 rounds/season) around 73 yd shot. All very similar spin of ~8500 except the Tour response which was 7200 and 3* higher launch. I then tested ProV1 wet and the spin dropped by 4000 rpm. I have since tested with a new Cleveland RTX wedge and gained ~600 rpm of spin but when I went wet, the spin only dropped 600 rpm. Bottom line for me, I need to change my wedges more often and although the balls were similar in wedge spin, I seem to keep the Titleist balls in play more than other balls. Honourable mention to the Wilson Triad though if you want to go budget.

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

We're never going to recommend using used golf balls. Various golf journalists and outlets have done tests and proven you're potentially sacrificing a ton of performance using them. Even small nicks, scratches, or blemishes can be the difference between your golf ball behaving just as you're hoping versus not. Maybe try new golf balls, but at a slightly lower price point to get that cost savings!

I play same golf ball all summer/season however living in Scotland our inland courses get soft and go onto winter courses (fairway greens). I play the balls I find in the summer over the winter months when performance is not at a premium and you can loose balls in the soft fairways and rough.

The quality control comment at beginning is interesting. I would say you are off with direct to consumer being what you are saying I know trying get the comparison difference of 55 bad balls in a bunch of a 100 but let's be fair that statement is soooo far off. I have played vice balls all year never had one issue with quality and actually these balls have worn better than anything ever for me. The reason I stopped playing Titleist years ago is they got too proud of themselves (to expensive). I then found balls that are better priced and at times compromised a little in the past but know more now I get as good performance. Titleist keep upping their price (always most expensive ball out in stores every year) and why because they know they can because they have people from the past when it was true fooled and blind (loyalists) who listen to all they say and never truly give fair unbiased shots to another brand for what needs to be a full year test. Lastly let us not forget Titleist wasn't first composite ball to market in 1999 to 2000 the brand who start the composite run and who for a time started to look to push Titleist to the side even on tour was Top Flight Strata's. Then Titleist made/copies pushed hard marketing because of money abilities and here we are let loyalists not forget that once Titleist wasn't the ball and money/marketing put them there. So maybe you should look at things not just marketing and softly bashing other brands by there "number one ball on tour" statement like those guys aren't paid to play it.

So, long story short, it's simply not better than a ProV1x. On the plus side, it really isn't any worse either (except slightly off the tee maybe), but there is just no justification for the price. None.

It really is. Customer service is near non-existent. Website contains little to no useful information on products. It’s more of a marketing company than a golf equipment company. I think they’re trying to do what Swag Golf has done, hype it up with colourful, cool looking and cool sounding products (that really offer nothing new in terms of performance), build up a cult following, sell stuff for sky high prices.

LA Golfs marketing is a bit much and it cheapens their product. Their social media kind of feels like if Playboy had started a golf company. It should be about the golf but instead they try to create some kind of weird jet-set lifestyle vibe, with guys smoking cigars hanging with girls that are too young for them. Why can't it just be about golf.

This ball has nothing to do with being in the golf ball business. This is to generate discussion about LA Golf. They know no one is going to buy this ball.

Equal performance for $15 more - this ball won't last long because it's not meaningfully better than Titleist or even urethane D2C brands.

From a pricing standpoint, it is a complete abomination. A bush league tactic to generate artificial hype for a product that won’t compete with Prov1, Taylor Made, Callaway, Srixon, and Vice balls not now, not ever. Stick to making shafts. 👍

As a super fan of TXG. I have to say how disappointed I am with how far this new channel has fallen. It is utter garbage that I can longer stomach watching! I have unsubscribed and I feel very sorry for you Ian
