    I've been playing zstars for years. Started with them, went to chrome soft then came back and haven't dabbled with anything else. I absolutely luv these diamond balls. To me they hold the greens a bit more for my 8, 7, 6 & hybrids. Luv ur channel more importantly luv ur content. Been a fan for years.

    Mark, thank you for testing these. I have used the Z-Star myself. I'm currently using Cut DC. I just feel like I have more control with the Cuts, around the green with chipping and pitching. Maybe this spring can I get my new irons, that could change. I'd love to see more head to head comparisons. Keep up the great work, Cheers!

    I typically choose my ball on green side and putting performance with irons playing a significant part. Drivers can be adjusted to fit the ball. Great video Mark. As always

  • @paulmcfadden6517
    @paulmcfadden6517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's nice to see the subtle differences between 2 balls in a real dataset. I think a big problem when choosing a ball is the ridiculous claims printed on the boxes. Every ball seems to provide explosive, low spin distance off driver combined with incredible greenside spin.
    On the new Diamond, it's certainly nice to have the option to slightly increase spin for the mid irons only. I would imagine though, that subtle adjustments might be needed when playing this ball off mid irons into the wind.
    Another worthwhile video. Thanks Mark

  • @deanclay9992
    @deanclay9992 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the content Mark... looks like it almost comes down to your preference for feel around the greens as to which ball you would game. Both seem really consistent in mid to long irons and I think we would all like a ball that will help us to have a consistent ball flight and control when landing on the greens.

    For my money I'd play either of those, I like a good urethane ball as much as I like a cheap 2 piece golf ball and I have both types in my bag.
    Manufacturers would love us to believe the tech is required, but I have played enough rounds of golf with people that have retired playing 2 piece balls they have found on the course, to realize that a 7 iron bump and run can finish as close to a hole as a 60° lob wedge to know it's all about how much practice you put in.
    Thanks for another great video, my favorite ball test you have done was when you tested the complete range of Srixon balls in one test.

    Nice review Mark. I play off a handicap in the low singles and I also play a decathlon golf ball - the INESIS Tour 900. Here in India they retail for around ₹2500 for a dozen (that’s about 25£) and I am yet to see any tangible differences on course. I have never had the dry ball data compared to either the TP5 or the Z-star which I have played before , but from what I see on course, I’ve never felt like I’m losing out and therefore never needed to. I keep getting asked by my playing partners why someone at my handicap would use an “INESIS” golf ball and often imply that I should to change to a “better ball”. Sometimes the note of shock in their voice as they walk up to a ball on the green and say that’s an INESIS and I respond “that’s mine”, makes me smile.
    Basically this entire mini thesis is to pay homage and give massive respect to coaches like you who always want to find that nugget of truth hidden behind all the razzmatazz that’s presented to us club golfers - which, truth be told, we all have at some stage of our golfing journey, fallen for. Thanks Mark for keeping it simple -Always (unlike this post)! 😝

    I have to say The Srixon Q-Star Divide is my ball of choice. Because ... I can see it. I will say it does have a "nice" feel. 3 things: 1 - Have you considered "feel" off the putter. I think that's more noticeable than even the wedge. 2 - Yes, I like to see you test all 3 Z-Star balls against each other in the same test. 3 - Yeah, I don't think Srixon "needs" this ball. But it does take more shelf space to display 3 types of Z-star than it takes to display 2 types of Z-stars. More shelf space = more noticeable on the shelf.

  • @gavinporter8035

    When the balls performance is so similar, surely it just comes down to whether you like a softer or harder feel at strike point. Also whether visually you like to see lower or higher trajectory. Which ever one gives you that confidence boost must be the winner! Like you said Mark, too many options out there just complicate the matter. As if we didn't have enough things to think about, stance, swing plane, club face square, and the list goes on!

    Never gamed a Srixon. I do prefer a softer sound though. Makes me feel like I hit a better shot even when I don't. Years ago bought a bunch of used Topflight golf balls off eBay...cause I was cheap and did not know better. It was like hitting a rock. Every now and then I would drive one into the the woods at the back of my lot until they were all gone. I still find them now and then when I go for a walk in the woods some 15+ years later. And I can't help myself, I pick them up and go about hitting them back out there when I am out back practicing my chipping. They make a nice sound when the ricochet off the trees.

    With your analogy of the rack of blue trousers. A comparison of the balls across the Srixon family would be interesting to see to get a true insight of what you’re actually getting for the huge price difference.
